Jerry Dixon's Automotive & Klassic Kars Center - bottom of truck

Jerry Dixon's Automotive & Klassic Kars Center

    (35 reviews)

My girlfriend brought her 1979/80 Chevy C10 Scottsdale in to Jerry Dixon's Automotive (JDA) for a…read more110 point inspection as it was running rough; they recommended multiple repairs. These included brake & power steering hoses, coolant flush, replacing front wheel bearings, and replacing the battery. She authorized this work and to our knowledge it was done. JDA stated that they did the work necessary to make the car safe to drive. However, she continued to have running problems and JDA recommended looking at the gas tanks. They scoped them and said they were full of rust. They said that "both tanks, senders, lines and probably the switchover valve need to be replaced." She discussed supplying JDA with the parts for them to install and ultimately decided to have JDA buy the parts and install them. They provided an estimate and went ahead with the repairs. JDA replaced the gas tanks, senders, lines, and switchover valves and asked her to pay the balance and they would deliver the truck. My GF looked at the final bill and it was approximately $1000 more than the original estimate. When my GF asked about this, they said that an estimate is just approximate and depending on what they found it could increase. They said they did extra work that they did not charge her for to counter her issue with the additional $1000. When she paid the bill, they reneged on their offer to deliver the truck and required her to pick it up at their location. She picked up the truck and we continued to have major problems with the gas tanks. When I start it up and switch the tanks, it dies. I tried multiple times. JDA said to bring it back and they would check it. I drove it to JDA and an employee took it for a test drive without taking me. They returned and said it was working fine, that if the tanks weren't switched regularly the off-tank gas line would drain back into the tank and require time to fill when switched to that tank. They stated facetiously that my GF should know that considering that she owns the truck. This doesn't make sense as it implies that once switched it would take some time to fill the line; how is the truck supposed to continue to drive if no gas is getting to the fuel pump?? I took their word that it was just a normal operational issue, drove the truck the next day and while I was driving it, the truck died. I toggled the tank switch and nothing happened. I was stranded on the side of the road and my GF had to have it towed. When she called JDA, they said that if the gas runs out and the truck stalls before switching to the off-tank, the switch wouldn't work as it needs more amperage to operate than a battery can provide when the car is not running. So they're saying that the car needs to be running for the gas tank switch to work?? NOT LIKELY. Given that JDA could not figure out what was going on, my GF brought it to another classic car repair shop for a diagnosis. The first thing the new shop said is that the gas delivery system is designed so that gravity assists in delivering the fuel, so JDA's contention that not switching tanks would affect the gas in the line was completely wrong. Second, they said that the battery has sufficient amperage to activate the gas tank switch even when the car is not running. So JDA apparently doesn't know how these things work. In addition, the new shop showed me that the gas tank switch that JDA installed is NOT an OEM part, that there are significant kinks in the new gas lines, and there are OLD lines that were not replaced. (picture attached) The new shop did the repairs and it is working fine now. Overall, my GF, Shelly, is extremely dissatisfied with JDA's work and ethics. Neither she or I have ever had to pay so much over the estimate for a repair (approx. 30% higher) and garages have always informed us of a difference in price BEFORE they did the work. Their justification that the parts/labor were necessary to get the job done is not ethical, they should have discussed this with Shelly beforehand. They refused to tow the truck when it died, then towed it without her consent while they were examining it at her property and wanted to charge her $250. The fact that the gas delivery system continued to be faulty and that they claimed it was our ignorance that was causing the problem was just false. Finally, when we picked up the truck, the rearview mirror was detached, the front right headlight was not working, the left side dashboard light was not working (very difficult to see gauges) and the horn cover was broken so we could not honk the horn if we needed to. They did a 110 point inspection which surely would have revealed the lighting issues. Delivering the truck to us with these broken safety items without offering to repair them is a good example of their careless attitude and unprofessionalism. We would not use JDA again and our advice is buyer beware..

My wedding was November 1 2024, so I brought my 1966 mustang to Jerry Dixon's in advance to get it…read morefixed up before the wedding. It sat for close to 15 years so I knew it needed a lot of work. I was very anxious it wouldn't be ready in time and bothered the mechanics way more than I would like to admit, but they were always so patient and professional with me! About two weeks before my wedding, I picked up the mustang and drove it for a week before it stalled out. Of course I was freaking out but they did everything they could to have it fixed up for my wedding a day and even delivered it to my Venue the morning of the wedding to ensure my wedding dreams would come true. It was so sweet and above and beyond! I know my Car still needs a lot do work and I fully intend on bringing it right back to Jerry Dixon's when I can. I fully trust these guys to do the best work around and make sure my wife and I are safe driving the mustang wherever we need to go. I couldn't recommend these guys enough! I'm so thankful!!!

Morris should not be customer-facing, he's obviously not enjoying the interaction. Quality: In the 3-4 years I've used these guys, more and more stuff adds up- under torqued nuts/bolts everywhere. Torque specs are there for a reason, I pay the exorbitant labor fee to get that sh!t right. Misdiagnosing, not listening to my repeated plea to check an o-ring (rather than tear down an entire assembly, which didn't fix the issue, it was the o-ring) and still charging me $700. Missing Nut: Got home after Davis installed new struts. Brand new front driver strut was missing a nut. The tire guy in the back: An untrained vagrant with an impact gun. However, since it's my husband's car he insisted I try the dealer-recommended shops first. I did--and the experience couldn't have been more different. At the first shop I visited, the representative was rude and condescending. He didn't listen to my concerns or answer my questions and I left feeling anxious and frustrated. I immediately went back to U First and was relieved to speak with Jesse again. He walked me through every step of the process, answered all my questions, and set clear, reasonable expectations. The price he quoted was significantly lower than the dealer-recommended shop and he was able to get my husband's car in on my timeline. Once I dropped off the car, the communication was excellent throughout the entire process. The repair is absolutely PERFECT--flawless paint match. If my husband had been out of town he never would have known the car had been damaged. Jesse also explained that the car self-calibrates, so there was no need--or charge--for calibration that the other shop quoted at $2000! In the end, my total was about one-third of the "starting price" quoted by the dealer-authorized shop. I highly recommend Jesse and U First Auto Body for their honesty, professionalism, fair pricing, and outstanding workmanship. I hope not to damage more cars but if I do I know exactly where I'm going!
