The Eastern European waitress wanted to relate with us trying to copy our language (dutch), which was sympathetic and akward at the same time. She went out of her way to look for Coke Zero we ordered and was thought to be sold out. The only minus. Our daughter asked for a margaritha with ham but got sausage. This sausage was rather spicy, which is not her preferred taste. Probably would have better returned it, but she wanted to eat together with us. She took almost all the sausage of the pizza. We were on the first flour and it became noisy when three families joined. Curtains to damp noise would probably be a good idea.

This is a fantastic space. It's a hall type building that has been very carefully transformed into a large restaurant which successfully maintains an intimate feel using delicate lighting, cleverly created seating areas and has a large bar and pizza oven framing each end of the building. The menu's refreshing, as it's effectively a double-sided sheet with Italian delights on one side and mediterranean on the other, so if you have friends who want to eat Italian but you fancy something different or vice versa, the choice will please you in a big way. We're both vegetarian, and the selection of vegetarian food was excellent, though it's worth pointing out that like all awkward customers I set my heart on one of the meaty offerings and asked if they would be able to do me it without the meat, which the restaurant happily obliged. Top notch. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, we didn't feel rushed at all and once we asked for the bill it arrived promptly with the card machine following suit very soon after. Again top notch. The only thing we could fault was the starter, which arrived a little cooler than you would normally expect for deep fried brie, but was still delicious. A nice atmosphere, a great wine menu and effectively TWO menu's makes this an easy pick if you're looking for great food away from the usual chains. Highly recommended.

A last minute impulse led us to join my son and his partner at the Alexandra Ristorante in Ramsgate, for our 31st December 2017 late dinner. And what a surprise was in store for us all as none of us had been there before. Our new-year's dinner turned out to be our best 2017 restaurant experience and the best Italian restaurant we have been to, over the past 30 years! What a find indeed... Although late for our 21:30 table, we were very warmly welcomed in the Alexandra Ristorante delightful and spoteless surroundings. We savoured every bite and minute we had until we left at 23:45. The setting was perfect for our New-Year's eve celebration: a homely environment, in the heart of Ramsgate harbour. The Alexandra Ristorante building is indeed unique. The tables are tastily set, in a welcoming and stylish simplicity.. Quiet music provided a pleasant background to our family get-together. The perfect Italian atmosphere oozing peaceful charm... As for the food... well as a French accomplished cook myself, I like the best and I was not disappointed... The menu offered a wide variety of options, including a good range of delicious vegeterian dishes. Our food was served with care by the owners who clearly take great delight in pleasing their guests and much pride in preparing the best of Italian traditional food. Every dish we picked was exquisitely presented, in generous portions, home-made with fresh and high-quality ingredients, and so so so tasty!!! Italian food at its best.... All dishes were very reasonably priced and our three-course New-Year's eve meals with drinks cost us just under £25 per person. Very well done John: your food is scrumptious and your prices are honest!!! A big thank you to you, family and staff for making our late New Year's eve a really unexpected treat, despite Ramsgate Harbour fireworks being cancelled due to strong winds... Definitely child friendly with colouring and activity books and a good childrens menu - certainly my daughter's choice for pizza. Staff have always been friendly and helpful and having visited several times over the last year we will soon go back again. A real bonus is Pizza Express take Tesco vouchers which offsets the prices, which are on the high side - and is the reason this doesn't get 5 stars.
