We did not have a starter so unable to comment, My main course (rump steak) was far from anything to write home about. My wifes Suffolk chicken supreme wrapped in pancetta with ricotta, pesto & sun-blushed tomatoes, lacked flavour and taste. Because of the previous review, we thought the desserts should be OK, and to our surprise they were excellent. If it had not been for the desserts, coffee and tea it would have been 2 stars. To be fair the steak was probably a let down by the butcher, and with a bit of extra work on the pesto and ricotta would have made all the difference and have been an excellent meal.

The pub is very pretty and is situated in a beautiful village which we took a stroll around afterwards. The pub is very cosy with lots of character and very friendly staff. It is well known for working really hard to use locally sourced produce and this is the reason that we chose to go there. The menu is quite small which I like, giving an indication that nothing has been hanging around for ages. We all opted for the roast which on that day was lamb from just down the road. We were a little disappointed with the small amount of vegetables - it seemed more suitable for two rather than three adults - but everything was really tasty and perfectly cooked. We all chose a different dessert as they all sounded so gorgeous we wanted to try them all - we were not disappointed, they were all amazing. Now having eaten our yummy puddings we were pleased that our dinner was not a mountain of food because we would not have been able to manage dessert! They also sell a range of homemade cakes, jams and chutneys (my mother-in-law got a large bakewell tart to take home with her) and the lady across the road came in whilst we were there to sell eggs from her chickens to the landlady. All-in-all I am not sure that I have ever enjoyed a meal so much! I am planning to go back with my husband for our wedding anniversary. We were on our own when we arrived and by the time we left the place was full of couples and families and I liked that well behaved dogs were allowed inside.

We only ate once; the set up of the Harbour is much more for the family crowd, with us even witnessing chairs on tables at 10pm one night - not for the night owls. The seating upstairs, around 5 tables, is the only 'adult only' bar in the place. This is generally on account of the location of the Harbour, inbetween Southwold and Walberswick, with no real access to anything other than the pub. Food is their mainstay, so fair enough. It was busy when we arrived last Wednesday, but we managed - thanks to my mother's elbows and ability to spy people readying to leave - to grab a table within around 15 minutes of arriving. The menu here is fish heavy, naturally, but there are plenty of options for the non-fish loving. I opted for the ribeye steak, served with a tomato, mushroom, onion rings and chips. Everything was delicious and I really enjoyed my steak; it was the perfect colour for me and oozed juices, meaning I barely needed to add anything (apart from a dash of ketchup - so sue me!) Around the table, we also had a starter/tapas portion of sea bass, which looked fresh and inviting, a juicy burger, with what was definitely a handmade patty on account of how easily it fell apart!, and vegetarian fish and chips. Now, this was battered halloumi - fried cheese seems to be a massive thing at the moment, and the Harbour didn't dissapoint. It was salty but, washed down with a pint of Broadside, my dad managed to power through! All in all, family friendly, but don't be put off - you'll be able to get some great grub here. Lunchtimes are their busiest time, so be prepared to wait.
