The pub is beautiful and cosy, the landlady was kind and cheerful and the food.....oh god, the food! We both had a starter of pigeon, not something you usually see on a pub menu and it was superbly cooked and tasted amazing. For my main I chose the steak burger with chips and onion rings, the burger was big, flavoursome and juicy and the touch I like is that the tomato ketchup on table was all homemade, not from a bottle! We will certainly come back to this awesome place if we are ever near the area again because it was outstanding!!

But..we heard it had been recently taken over and lots of work had been done to the kitchen, so we decided to give it another chance. We were so glad we did! Despite being very busy, we were greeted warmly and with a smiles. The food was excellent, freshly made & cooked on the premises and at a very reasonable price. The beer is superbly kept and the overall atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. We will definately be going again, and have no hesitation in recommending this. We had just missed the lunch service but were made to feel extraordinarily welcome by Nick, the landlord, and were in no way treated like outsiders because it is very much a classic chocolate box village local and we'd come eighty miles from Cambridge to this sleepy Suffolk village. We were even given bar snacks on the house to make up (somewhat) for our disappointment at just missing lunch. But because we were treated so nicely this really was no problem at all. The White Hart is a basic establishment serving superb Adnams ales. Service is fast and friendly. This pub has a hidden positive. Having a large area at the side and back they allow you to sit there with your Aldeburgh Fish and Chips (frying next door) on a minor condition that you buy a pint or two. Who wouldn't anyway? Covid restrictions are in place at the moment but that doesn't stop the marvellous service. A nice hour or two.

I have many fond memories of this terrific, ancient pub over the years. It is actually in Snape,…read morenot Saxmundham - about five miles difference. So don't be fooled by the post code. The inn is 15th century and retains so many of the old features such as cut-outs in the wall to display the wattle and daub construction of the walls. The flagstone floors are lovely as well. The Admans ale is the best in Britain, hands down, although I do not recall whether this is a "tied" house. I remember, a few decades ago, watching the marriage of Charles and Diana on the telly in the bar and getting plastered with the locals. This place is as traditional as it gets. The last time I was there I saw no fruit machines and I doubt any have appeared since then. A Suffolk treasure beyond measure.
