I believe the quality must have changed in 2 1/2 years. Lovely pub and gardens, handy parking…read moreoutside, tranquil setting in the village and hub of the community. We did not have a starter so unable to comment, My main course (rump steak) was far from anything to write home about. My wifes Suffolk chicken supreme wrapped in pancetta with ricotta, pesto & sun-blushed tomatoes, lacked flavour and taste. Because of the previous review, we thought the desserts should be OK, and to our surprise they were excellent. If it had not been for the desserts, coffee and tea it would have been 2 stars. To be fair the steak was probably a let down by the butcher, and with a bit of extra work on the pesto and ricotta would have made all the difference and have been an excellent meal.

I visited The Queens Head in Bramfield for Sunday lunch with my husband, mother-in-law (in her…read more70's)and my daughter who is 8. The pub is very pretty and is situated in a beautiful village which we took a stroll around afterwards. The pub is very cosy with lots of character and very friendly staff. It is well known for working really hard to use locally sourced produce and this is the reason that we chose to go there. The menu is quite small which I like, giving an indication that nothing has been hanging around for ages. We all opted for the roast which on that day was lamb from just down the road. We were a little disappointed with the small amount of vegetables - it seemed more suitable for two rather than three adults - but everything was really tasty and perfectly cooked. We all chose a different dessert as they all sounded so gorgeous we wanted to try them all - we were not disappointed, they were all amazing. Now having eaten our yummy puddings we were pleased that our dinner was not a mountain of food because we would not have been able to manage dessert! They also sell a range of homemade cakes, jams and chutneys (my mother-in-law got a large bakewell tart to take home with her) and the lady across the road came in whilst we were there to sell eggs from her chickens to the landlady. All-in-all I am not sure that I have ever enjoyed a meal so much! I am planning to go back with my husband for our wedding anniversary. We were on our own when we arrived and by the time we left the place was full of couples and families and I liked that well behaved dogs were allowed inside.
