Covid restrictions are in place at the moment but that doesn't stop the marvellous service. A nice hour or two.

We had just missed the lunch service but were made to feel extraordinarily welcome by Nick, the landlord, and were in no way treated like outsiders because it is very much a classic chocolate box village local and we'd come eighty miles from Cambridge to this sleepy Suffolk village. We were even given bar snacks on the house to make up (somewhat) for our disappointment at just missing lunch. But because we were treated so nicely this really was no problem at all. Great atmosphere, beautiful location. Will have to visit again to sample the food! Phone in advance, it gets booked up quickly.

I would advice booking in advance because this pub is very popular especially if you want to sit in the small bar/eating area. There is no music, just the sound of a packed bar enjoying an excellent and ever-changing selection of local real ales. The menu has an enormous range of food- we struggle to choose just 1 main each because so many of them sound completely scrumptious. The pub really does sell traditional 'pub grub' -good steaks, lasagne, roasts etc- none of those small portion, fancy 'nouveau cuisine' dishes here. There is a daily roast with a different meat every day and the vegetables that accompany this are beautiful- fresh, colourful and not overcooked. Service is prompt, but not too prompt, prices are very reasonable and the landlady Avril is very keen to please and friendly. We've no negative feedback for this pub and gladly recommend it to our friends when they ask for a good 'food pub' recommendation. The pub closes on Mondays and has closed some other week day evenings recently when I assume, sadly business has been slow- if in doubt, do give them a call first.

Cozy, low-ceilings, and charming as heck. Chilly service, but I have had way worse so I am not too upset about it. (Maybe it was because I am American, but I was with Brits so...might just be the way it is.) I got a sort of chowder/stew situation that was creamy and decadent and delicious, as well as a salad, that was far bigger than I expected it to be, in order to get some veggies in my body. I would certainly recommend a visit to Aldeburgh if you want to get to the rocky seaside (I wish I could have stayed longer!) and a meal at the Cross Keys will hit the spot!
