This is our favourite pub in the Suffolk Coastal area- we absolutely love the food!! The pub is spacious and very traditional, with an open log fire and several different eating corners dotted around the pub and a lovely outside eating space/beer garden for in the summer.
The menu has an enormous range of food- we struggle to choose just 1 main each because so many of them sound completely scrumptious. The pub really does sell traditional 'pub grub' -good steaks, lasagne, roasts etc- none of those small portion, fancy 'nouveau cuisine' dishes here. There is a daily roast with a different meat every day and the vegetables that accompany this are beautiful- fresh, colourful and not overcooked.
Service is prompt, but not too prompt, prices are very reasonable and the landlady Avril is very keen to please and friendly.
We've no negative feedback for this pub and gladly recommend it to our friends when they ask for a good 'food pub' recommendation.
The pub closes on Mondays and has closed some other week day evenings recently when I assume, sadly business has been slow- if in doubt, do give them a call first. read more
