Ended up coming here for Hibachi as it was recommended by the hotel. Service - It was great service but they did take a while before starting the service on the grills. Venue - Place can definitely use a remodel as it is plain and simple with bad decor. Food - Food was great and ended up paying more money to get the surf and turf and the portions was very generous. Crowd - People at our table was nice but overall very laid back and kinda blah crowd. Overall place was good but wouldn't come back or be a recommended spot. read more

Asiana is a contemporary, gourmet Asian restaurant located in the Zilara that offers sushi and sashimi on the main floor, as well as a teppanyaki cooking show on the lower floor. Just note that there are only two tepannyaki stations, so reservations is a must! Our group came here to celebrate a birthday. The menu allows you to choose your starch (noodles, white rice, or yakimeshi (fried rice); I highly recommend in you doubling-up or do a mix-and-match, as I chose both the yakimeshi and the noodles); your soup (misoshiru soup or Thai (with coconut milk); your garnishes (Option 1: bok choy, jicama, carrots mushrooms, and butter; Option 2: asparagus, shiitake, jicama, and carrots; Option 3: leeks, mushrooms, red peppers, broccoli, and zucchini; Option 4: peppers, mushrooms, carrots, leeks, and zucchini; and, Option 5: leeks, shiitake, broccoli, mushrooms, and zucchini); your main course (Socku Tuna, Wild Salmon, Beef Fillet, Chicken Breast, or Ribeye); and, all ending with the Colour Plaette dessert (with kiwi, strawberries, and bananas with a scoop of lychee ice cream). I did double-meat of the Ribeye and the Option 3 for the 'garnishes' (which is the side of veggies). The meat was cooked tender and was well-seasoned, and definitely ask your chef is you want more butter or garlic sauce with your meats/veggies. I also recommend in getting the house special sauces of the chili oil and the hot sauce, as it really complements your meal (sorry, no yum yum sauce here!). Our hibachi chef was Jaiver, and he was so great! He put on a great show, had a great sense of humor, and was just super sweet! The wait staff were all so fun, as they really put effort in making the evening super special (birthday songs, birthday shots, etc.)! The Bailey's and the tequila mix is tasty! There was even a talented Japanese bamboo flutist - a great way to add to the ambiance! Restaurant part: 2 stars. The Asian Fusion restaurant on the property, as you can tell from the name. I was excited to try their food and everything on the menu sounded great. They offer things like sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, ramen, Korean fusion dishes, fried ice cream and more. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed with all the items I ordered. The Dragon roll was fine but everything else was very bland tasting. The ramen had almost no flavor in the broth and the meat was also tasteless. I ordered the Japchek and again, it looked good, but again no flavor. It was just stir fried together with no spices or flavoring! It was really odd... Gyoza - they was submerged in a pool of soy sauce and that was the only thing that gave it flavor. But the wrapper and filling was meh. Fried ice cream - it was mainly a thick layer of dough with what seemed like vanilla sauce in the middle (probably because the ice cream fully melted). Hot & Sour Soup - it was neither hot or sour. It was like a light vegetable broth soup. Hibachi (Teppanyaki) Dinner: 4 stars. The only saving grace for this place is the hibachi dinners they offer downstairs (reservation required). You get to watch the chef put on a show and cook hibachi food. Finally, some flavor!!! We urged on the chef to spray more "pepsi/coca cola" (aka. Soy sauce) on the food and that tasted much much better. He actually salted and peppered the meat which I don't think any of the other restaurants do..... The show as great, our chef, Johnny!, was awesome! He was funny and entertaining. We got rib eye & veggies for entrée, thai or miso soup, sushi, and a lychee dessert. There were other options for entrees such as salmon, beef filet, chicken, etc. All in all, I personally only recommend the Hibachi dinner. The service is great and I am bit spoiled coming from Seattle with our very diverse restaurant community when it comes to Asian restaurants. The dishes are fine. The tuna sashimi is excellent, the rice with the tuna nigiri isn't exactly right - a bit drier than it should be and doesn't seem to be prepared the way I have become accustomed with but I can't exactly explain why. The bread for the Korean Bar-B-Sandwich was not traditional and thus had a soggy bottom. The chicken for it was also not correct and while it is moist and definitely fried chicken and even tasty it isn't Korean style fried chicken. The Underground Kitchen in Federal Way/south of Seattle is hard to beat, but even setting that aside there is definite difference between Korean Fried Chicken and regular or even Southern fried chicken which seemed to be more what this was. The sauce and other toppings were fine. I did like the tuna roll that I had. The yakisoba also uses the wrong noodles and uses Udon noodles which just isn't a good fit for a fried noodle dish. The okinomiyaki flavor wise was good but my husband felt like it should have been cooked a little longer to get a bit more color and just a little crunch. Things felt all over the place with nothing being exactly right. Honestly I feel like it has improved from last year but still falls short of expectations as one of the resorts higher end reservation restaurants. We were definitely fans of this Asian restaurant. Located to a quieter side of the hotel, this restaurant did not draw a big crowd during lunch time. Majority of the people dining inside were Asian! We do wish we went here again during our stay, but there's so many good places at Zilara. Between the shrimp, sushi, and salmon. I would have them all again! Great little hibachi restaurant located inside the Hyatt resort. I had the grill salmon and mixed vegetable fried rice. The salmon was tied up with a creamy mayo and teriyaki type sauce. I asked mine to be cooked well so the sauce added a great bit of flavor and moisture. I really enjoyed it. I didn't like the miso soup tho. I am giving this five stars based on my lunch experience. I also am keeping into account that it is a Japanese restaurant in an all inclusive resort.....in Mexico, not Japan! If it was a random sushi spot, where I was expecting hands out authentic Japanese sushi for a lot of money, I'd give it a four. Anyway, the service was great. The seared sushi salad was great. The veggie egg roll was delicious although not steaming hot. The actual sushi (nigiri) was really rather good. I had tuna and salmon. read more

The food sucks, it really does. A lot of salt and the portions are so freaking small. They also will not accommodate you with anything. If you eat at hibachi, you can't order sushi and vice versa. The crew will only make what is on the menu and won't make a roll for vegetarians. The hibachi menu is limited and you can only order one item from each section of the menu. For instance you can't have rice or noodles at the same time. Don't waste your time with this place, I really hope they change the entire restaurant. My neighborhood sushi place kicks the shit out of this place. I mean, it's on a 5 star resort... such shitty service on top of the Shittier food. read more

My husband and I went to Asiana's for lunch and were wearing sleeveless T shirts when we were seated by Rodolfo. As he handed my husband was handed the menu, Rodolfo told him that he would have to change his shirt. The resort dress code policy only restricts sleeveless shirts for men during dinner. As we pointed this out to him and the useless manager Glenda, they continued to insist that he needed sleeves. Although it is clearly written on the host stand that it is allowed. We asked him why did he seat us and hand us menus and he had no response. He was clearly discriminating against us and seated us to humiliate us by asking us to leave. Don't waste your time at this place or Hyatt Zilara. read more

We love japanese food but they are just.. very below average... and honestly, I don't think they know japanese food.. Soup are way to salty.. Sushi are not done right..
