"Send a smile, Give a hug, All day long you will be loved!"…read more This is how I feel about not only random but flat out acts of kindness. During these crazy times where the economy is pretty much in the can (but it's lifting), people are negative about the weight of bills and having to work 50+hrs a week. All it takes is a home cooked meal to put a smile back on someone's face. Food holds a huge importance, I cannot even imagine not enjoying a meal and savoring every bite from start to finish, let alone sitting at my table without any food to accompany the grumble of my stomach. The Humanitarian Service Project is here for the people, without questions or obligations they are looking out for those in need and those willing to help out in a compassionate way. Not only are the staff extremely warm and welcoming, but are pleased and excited that there is still some good in the world and want to help someone out. Down or not down. For the Holiday Meals Program, you sign up to make and deliver meals on a monthly basis to a person in the community. What you make is basically up to you and your client. For me, because it's just me and I love cooking I took up two folks and decided to go all out. As if they could expect less, it's bigger and better in the land of Morgantown. Anyhoo, I spent a full day of cooking food I haven't cooked in ages (my house smells of country fried chicken...and I don't eat meat : )....) I placed together a full meal from salad starters to a light pumpkin bread dessert for both of the people I cooked for and delivered the goods with a generous smile. Walking away with an incredible appreciation for people and the heartfelt conversations you can take away from someone in the matter of 20 minutes to 2 hours, knowing it's all over the acceptance of food. From my table to yours, many thanks to the Humanitarian Service Project for creating this program. I cannot wait for this month....and know that I will be cooking for these two lovely people outside of the obligations of the project.

it takes a lot for me to write a bad review of a business, but Fountain Cleaners earned this…read morereview. It started with a minor issue last Saturday when the person working had to ask me the color of the tie I was picking up. I had to text my son since he did the drop off. (Tip - have the person dropping off the clothes take a picture of the items in case a different person picks up the order.) When I got home, I noticed both suits had spots on them - see picture. I went back and left the pictured suit with them to re-clean, but couldn't leave the other one because my son needed it for an interview on Monday morning. With my son took the suit jacket out of the plastic Sunday evening he realized it was not his suit! When I brought the suit back on Monday morning at 9 o'clock, (which BTW, is late for a dry cleaner to open, and is not the time listed on Google), the woman insisted I had the correct suit because the numbers on the ticket matched. Luckily, this time I had pictures of the suit, including the brand label and went behind the counter myself to find the correct suit which I did in 30 seconds. I hope they can figure out who owns the blue Perry Ellis suit that was not mine. In the future, I will be marking my clothes when I drop them off at the new dry cleaner I will be using.

March came along, and my dress was not ready. I was told April then. Went by in April, and it still was not ready. I kept calling each month, and she kept extending the date. Finally August came along, and she said it would be ready in a week. I went by, and it was not ready. I called a couple weeks later, and she said it would be ready by Monday and that she promised. She also told me not to call her again. I went on the following Saturday, 5 days later than when she promised it to be ready, and it was not there. She said one more week. I went back a week later, and it still was not ready. I told her I wanted to take my dress and leave.. My dress wasn't even there. She told me if I wanted it today, I needed to drive to a different cleaners in Bartlett. My husband and I decided to drive to Bartlett because we were done dealing with this place. We got my dress back from the cleaners in Bartlett, and it was not boxed even though the fountain view lady said it was ready. The man in Bartlett was nice and understanding. He gave me my dress back for free but it was only cleaned not boxed. The day we also went to pick it up, we got to the cleaners at 9:30, and the store was closed. The hours said they opened at 9.
