Shari was welcoming from the first time that we walked into the storefront and was such an incredible help through the whole process. What it all comes down to is the quality of the product. You can browse thousands of loose diamonds on their website, which I did. The prices range wildly and so I brought in a couple that, on paper, looked good. I showed my selections to Shari and she respectfully told me that I had picked some not-so-hot diamonds. I braced myself for the sales hook of her telling me that I couldn't get what I wanted at the price I wanted... and it never came. She had already picked out a few stones and showed us her pick. One of the ones she picked floored us. We left, looked around for a while longer, but I knew that we had found the diamond for us. Shari doesn't put on a show like the big chains; she sells diamonds. She's an awesome, no-nonesense woman that knows her stuff. She's not afraid to tell you her opinion and get you the best stone at the best price and will listen to your needs and get you the stone that fits those needs. Shari was great about working with me discretely so that the ring could be a surprise to my girlfriend. I bought the stone from her, a setting elsewhere, brought her the setting, and she had the stone mounted while I was there. The ring was magical, the day I gave it to my fiance was magical, and I cannot wait for our wedding day. Whether you live in the city or suburbs, the drive down to CDX is worth it. The diamonds I looked at while I was there made me realize that what the big chains were overpriced and sub-par compared to what Shari and Kevin sell at the CDX.

Sarah helped guide me in my choices, answered all of our questions, was patient with my indecision, and had the tolerance of a saint when our cats would prance on the table as she pulled out stones. In the end, I got something that is unique, whimsical, not extravagantly priced, and feels very me. The hardest part was not wearing the ring once I got it; it was my call to go with only one ring, but I loved it so much I wanted to wear it immediately. I set up an appointment to drive down to Chicago with the intention to meet him in person, show how the ring fit on my finger, share my ideas, and see what he recommended based on his expertise. The drive was long and parking impossible, but I figured it would be important. His office was small and messy, but I chalked that up to being more focused on the rings themselves and offering good prices. He only spent all of maybe 10 minutes with us and provided absolutely no insight or recommendations. He didn't ask for our budget or anything besides "send me a photo of what you want" and joked how he disliked working on wedding bands because females are difficult. That really rubbed me the wrong way, and I should have trusted my gut and walked away then. After a complete flop of a first design based on a photo where my engagement ring wasn't nearly similar enough, I emailed him in detail what I liked about it, what I didn't like and why, asked for his expert recommendations again, and provided an alternative concept. He said nothing besides "give me a few days to get this done and will send it over" and then I didn't hear from him for two weeks. We weren't in a rush, and the second one was better, but he clearly hadn't read the things I liked/disliked about the first design and just took the photo I shared as a concept and made a CAD of exactly that. It still had a lot of things I wanted changed to make it my perfect wedding band since I will be wearing every day, so I tried calling multiple times and offered to chat on the phone, because after a lot of back-and-forth, he clearly did not understand what I was asking which proved very frustrating. We finally got the wedding band to an acceptable place, and when I asked what the ring would cost (as no range was provided throughout this entire grueling process), I didn't hear from him for two weeks. When he responded he said, "it's done, here is what you owe me" which was surprising and extremely unprofessional. After spam calling the practice to get him on the phone, I voiced my overall frustration, and he said "well I'm barely making anything on commission for this ring and you made me do multiple CAD images. So do you want the ring or not?" TLDR: if you want a fun and customer focused experience where you feel heard and valued, go elsewhere. My friends said they love Kesslers and their other local jewelers.

Owner pretends to know what he is doing, but talks down to you at every opportunity like you know nothing. There are lots of jewelers on Wabash, and like a good dentist, you want one that is honest. This looks like a front company where they ask for cash instead of taking credit cards for such a large purchase. Only drug dealers carry that much cash. Excuse me, add extra percentage after we negotiated because I wanted to use a card. Please remember caveat emptor when dealing with Joe.

We wanted to bypass the hassle of ordering sample kits and returning, so we jumped at the opportunity to see some rings in person. Making an appointment was super easy via their website. The "showroom" is really just a small table with a set of chairs. We were shown a huge assortment of various ring materials, styles, colors, etc. Our salesperson Kelly was very knowledgable and friendly, patiently walking us through the different options and pros/cons for each material. My husband went in saying he wanted to "just look" and check out some other companies, but ended up purchasing three rings (one platinum, one tungsten, and one silicone) on the spot during the appointment. The price was very reasonable- ranging from $99-$599+ depending on the material. All their prices are online and they gave us a discount for purchasing two in one trip. The only thing I don't like is that the company name is stamped on the inside of the rings. We weren't explicitly told about that, but my husband ultimately decided it was too much of a hassle to start the ring-buying process over again. Overall, really loved this spot for the service and variety, but the random branding on such a personal item cheapened the experience somewhat.
