Its a suburbanites answer for dating parties. They do singles mixers, meetings, hotel parties, speed dating, etc. I'd attended a single event over a year ago. I caught an ad in this suburban night life paper called, nitelife.org. It advertised a singles dance night at a Schaumburg hotel, ages ranging from 28-40. The ad also mentioned if you brought a friend the usual cover charge of $10/each would be discounted to $5 per person. So, I checked it out with a friend. First, the ladies at the ticket counter gave me such a hard time about the cover. Stating that I should've brought the ad and forced us to pay $10 each. (I checked the ad later, you did not have to bring it with you. I think they weren't doing so hot with # of attendees so..) The average age was NOT 28+. More like 46+. My friend and I stuck out bad, most would've thought we were cougar hunters or cruising for "pension checks". There were a few cougars, very few. Strange music variety, a CD player DJ was playing everything from Euro to pop to oldies. Imagine going to a elderly Jewish singles event, rollin' with Morty trying to pickup women. I shit you not, there were two guys on the dance floor with walkers, rolling about to the sounds of the Humpty dance.
The website and newspaper photos of upcoming events are very misleading. On that particular night the ad boasted 500+ singles from neighboring burbs would be participating. read more
