I want to share this incident with all who are thinking of getting a massage at Asian Spa in Pacific View Mall in Ventura. I went to the Asian Spa on Thanksgiving day and got a 20-minute chair message. During the massage, the person massaging me was pressing really hard on my neck area, shoulders, arms and back. I kept of saying "ouch" and my body was jerking from pain. The person massaging me kept on telling me to relax. I thought he knew what he was doing and chose to go through the pain. The next day, I could not move my right arm and I had an excruciating pain from my shoulder all the way down to my fingers. I had to take Ibuprofen to reduce the pain otherwise I was screaming. I wasn't able to use my right arm and hand at all for at least 10 days. I could not hold anything, put on my clothes, type or even lift my arm. I could not find any comfortable position to rest my arm, so I could sleep at nights. I saw my doctor 6 days after the incident and he told me that they caused a really intensive nerve damage and it would take 6-8 weeks to fully recover if I didn't reinjure my arm. It is almost 3 weeks now after the incident. I have a little pain on my right shoulders and my right arm's range of motion is limited. I am slowly healing. However, since my body was out of alignment over two weeks, the past few days my left foot has been hurting. I cannot walk or curl my toes up. I am limping.
I went to the Asian Spa 10 days after the incident to tell them what happened to me and to warn them to be more careful with their clients. They didn't respond to what I was saying. Either they pretended they didn't understand English or they really don't understand English.
I am writing this to ask all of you to be careful when getting a massage. If you feel pain during the massage, speak up and ask them to reduce the intensity. If not, walk away if you need to. Hope none of you will have to go through what I am going through now.
Best regards
