My husband and I had a very pleasant experience at this restaurant tonight. We arrived at 8:30 (they close at 9). The waitress acknowledged that bc it was so late that the buffet might be a little skimpy so she offered us a large discount on the buffet or the option to order from menu. We chose menu and ordered soup, sesame chicken and moo shu beef. Our food was fresh, piping hot and tasted great. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our drinks were refilled often. We made sure we wrapped up our meal in time for closing and collected our to go order. We were very happy with our visit.

Old carrots. If they are using this on the bar, what are they using in the kitchen that we cannot see? :O

I have eaten at a lot of Chinese establishments in my life, and I have to say this is one of the worst. The tea and the egg drop soup are good however. Our servers were very nice. Half of the buffet was not open :/ All of the chicken dishes except two were dark meat, and I dont eat dark meat as it makes me ill, I did try the sauces out of the dark meat on some tempura battered white meat chicken, I did not like those either. There was only one beef dish, pepper steak, it was slimy. The egg rolls only had cabbage in them, and it tasted like old cabbage. The rice was dry, the lomein noodles tasteles. I tried a salad but couldn't eat the giant pieces of broccoli as I had no knife, the carrots were beginning to rot and rubbery (see picture). We just moved to the area 24 hours ago, and sadly, I have to say, we will never be back to this establishment.

The food was good, but I think it could be better. Not the best Chinese food I've ever had. I went here on Sunday evening, there was no buffet. I'm guessing the buffet is a lunch thing. They give you a lot of food. I ordered the hot and spicy chicken and for dessert got the fried doughnuts ( he didn't charge us for the doughnuts, they were really hot and yummy).

Horrible food. I couldn't even eat my take out because it was that nasty. Not worth the money.

Terrible place to eat, the staff is rude and their food is, well, gross. Don't eat here unless you want to poop for three days straight. :(

Very reasonably priced and food is good. Wish there was more different meats to choose from. Lots of chicken dishes.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels intimate, upscale, and full of energy without trying too hard. It's the kind of place that instantly makes the night feel special. What keeps me coming back is how creative the menu is. Poor Calvin's has mastered the balance between Southern comfort food and bold Asian fusion flavors, and somehow every dish feels like a signature dish. The lobster fried rice is unforgettable, the crispy beef is packed with flavor, and the lobster mac and cheese deserves every bit of hype it gets online. Even the cocktails feel thoughtfully crafted instead of rushed. One thing I love is that the experience is consistently great. The service is always attentive, the presentation is beautiful, and the portions are generous enough that you'll probably be thinking about your leftovers the next day. I've brought friends here, recommended it to coworkers, and honestly judge my Atlanta trips by whether or not I made it to Poor Calvin's. You can tell why this place has developed such a loyal following. It's not just dinner -- it's an experience. Whether you're visiting Atlanta for the first time, planning date night, or celebrating something special, Poor Calvin's delivers every single time. Reservations are absolutely worth it.

Accessibility is what you'd expect from any Waffle House structure. If you need a ramp, you'll want to park toward the back for access. Anywhere else and there's a 8" step to navigate. You'll order at a small window right across from the doorway. The staff is friendly and engaging. They'll allow for some substitutions on the menu, but when we asked for no rice, we still got rice. The food taste was reasonably moderate, but there were issues. The egg roll left a puddle of grease on the plate. The noodles felt greasy as well, which might have been a product of the sauce. Vegetables were portioned lightly and the carrots were sliced so thin that you needed to stack three or four pieces together to convince your mouth that you were eating anything at all. Still, considering other nearby choices, it was probably the best option available. I would have likely given it four stars had it not been for the contemporary Christian worship music playing. I realize that Chattanooga likes to think it's part of the Bible belt, but the assumption that everyone wants to listen to such superficial performative drivel is off-putting. My stomach wrenched into knots and killed much of my appetite. Maybe this all works for the local carb-heavy population, but if you're on a delicate diet or, worse yet, diabetic, you might want to just bring your own food to town with you. There's nothing in Lookout Valley that's not going to offend your body one way or another.
