This place is a little off the beaten path, but the reviews looked promising, so we decided a small sushi road trip was in order. I walked in expecting the usual sushi restaurant vibe. Instead I was greeted by a television so large it could probably pick up signals from space. When I say massive, I mean it takes up an entire wall. Nothing pairs with delicate nigiri quite like a television the size of a drive-in movie screen. The all you can eat menu is a little limited when it comes to rolls, which was a bit surprising. But the nigiri selection was actually pretty strong and, more importantly, surprisingly fresh. Plenty of options and the fish held up well over multiple rounds. The cooked items were also plentiful, which helps if someone in your group is not fully committed to the raw fish lifestyle. Overall, I enjoyed the food. The service, however, moved at a pace that felt very... deliberate. Very, very slow. Slow enough that you start wondering if the rice is being strategically deployed to fill you up before your next order arrives. Still, the food was good and the experience enjoyable enough to land at a slightly above average four stars. Tip: come with extra time and patience. Settle in, watch a good sporting event on that enormous TV, and pack away some pretty solid sushi. Four stars. A little off the beaten path, a little slow on the service, but good sushi and possibly the biggest TV you will ever see in a sushi restaurant.

I chose it because it had a little bit of everything. My food was pretty good. Before my box came out, I had a small soup with mushrooms and green onions along with a small salad. My box had four different portions with rice, four Gyoza, four California rolls, and a small Salmon Teriyaki filet over a bed of caramelized onions. Everything tasted good, my Salmon paired with the teriyaki sauce was very tasty. I wish my Salmon piece was a little bit bigger than what I was given in the box, but that's my only qualm. Overall we had a good experience for our first time here. I would return again, there's many things on the menu that looked very good and I'm curious to try.

Definitely try both sauces, as I couldn't really pick a favorite. My wife ordered miso soup with her entrée and I asked for the ginger salad with mine. Neither of us were terribly pleased. The sliced ginger was a little dry and had maybe half of the flavor intensity that I was used to, and the soy sauce (in a Kikkoman bottle, but no idea if that matched the actual contents) was *exceedingly* salty. Usually soy sauce is a good complement to most rolls, but this literally overpowered what little flavor the roll had. For dessert we tried the Mango Coconut Rockstars. It kinda felt like their spin on the mango sticky rice that some restaurants offer. Again, a bit underwhelming. The fried sticky rice stars had decent flavor and texture, but the mango was diced into tiny pieces. They were surprisingly firm and tasted a little under-ripe, almost with a pineapple-like acidity. Our server was pretty good, though it kinda felt like she was rushing us once our dessert was served. The atmosphere was kinda cool. The menus are tucked into vinyl album covers, and each menu has a different classic album cover on the front. There are a few TVs in the place playing old rock music videos (all the same, thankfully), and it added to the nostalgia. All in all, it was okay. We may come back to try some of the other menu items, but it's not likely to be my go-to for sushi.
