I am not sure if it's under new ownership but this store is super clean doesn't smell and they added produce area which is awesome. It is a little more expensive then Ocean Mart store. Probably like .50 - 1.00 more. Example coconut milk at ocean mart is like .75 cents a can but here it's like 1.25. Not even cheaper then The regular grocery stores. Produce looked good. The meat and sea food area isn't as bug but I think eventually they will get there as it's a newer store. Freezer sections are huge! You can find everything from dim sum/ lumpia/ samosas/ boba ice cream! Everything! They also have an area for restaurant supplies pretty cheap if you need a few things for your kitchen. Definitely would come back to buy Asian ingredients needed for recipes! You can find it all here! -1 star prices seem more expensive then other Asian stores. read more

I have not been to Asian city in quite a while. Since it was the lunar new year, I decided to stop in. You could spend hours just perusing the shelves. The options for soy sauce, rice, noodles are endless. Their vegetable selection is small, but fresh are a great price. They also have a large selection of frozen seafood. They have all sorts of spices, seasonings, drinks, desserts, and oils you can choose from. They also have quite a variety of cookware like pots and pans and dishes. It looks like they also carry some skincare and other gifts but I did not look at those. I'll do that next time. If you are looking for a unique culinary experience, check this place out, you will not be disappointed. I will definitely be coming back. read more

Sometimes people will describe a store and say, "you just never know what you'll find," and that's generally a bit of an exaggeration. Asian City a special exception, though. There is such a ridiculous plethora and variety of items here. For example, you'll find wigs in every color and style imaginable, kitchen supplies (commercial kitchen goods, chopsticks, egg molds, bento boxes, and pretty much any fun product you could ever imagine), Asian candy and snacks, toys, weaponry, low and high end beauty supplies (including Shisiedo), koi fish, pond supplies, bamboo and other plants, clothes, shoes, jewelry, accessories, statues, various sorts of wall art, etc. They are owned by the same people as Ocean Mart. The store is never busy, and while you are unlikely to find an employee to assist you on the floor, check out is always fast. They do usually have a dedicated employee in the beauty section, and the girls there are always sweet and helpful, and generous with samples if you are interested. They have that department divided by their regular and then more upscale products, and you have to check out separately if you get products from both. It's a bit odd, but no big deal. They offer a rewards program for the prestige beauty supplies, earning you points for the money you spend there. Prices are good to great, although keep in mind it especially seems true here that a lower priced item is most likely going to be of lesser quality. If you haven't been, make a point of stopping by at least once. It's a little grimy looking, and poorly organized, but if you go in with an open mind you're sure to find something you never knew you needed. read more

Like you really NEED more junk that's Made in China -- but if you do, Asian City is the place. Think of a Chinese Big Lots and you'll get the picture. This pseudo department store has a large selection of "inspired by" clothing and bags, including lots of faux leather shoes that are all made in China. Make sure you try on all clothing and footwear as the sizes are super teeny (I'd guess the shoes marked a women's size 11 fit more like a women's size 8 or 9, and don't get me started on the clothing items). There's a huge selection of scarves and blankets for cheap, but please correctly set your expectations: that is, expect rock-bottom prices but NOT top quality goods. I enjoy browsing the home and beauty aisles (if you are a fan of cute animals you will find so much adorableness here: cat kitchen sponges, monkey pencil boxes, bunny bento boxes) and the kitchen goods. Chopsticks, rice cookers, pretty plastic Asian themed serving platters, giant whisks, specialty knives...it's a cook's paradise. If you are looking for a gorgeous Chinese or Japanese style teapot or tea set, you will find a large selection here. I can't begin to list all the junk that is crammed onto the shelves in this place but chances are if you are looking for something you will find it here. They even have inflatable mannequin heads, live bamboo plants, bizarre character stickers, weird imported Asian soft drinks and candy, and collectible samurai swords. Asian City saves the day! I have long hair and it gets chewed up by traditional hair elastics. Years ago on a trip to Japan, I found these plastic coiled hair bands that hold my hair tightly but do not break my strands. I treasured them and worked hard not to lose these hair heroes. The day finally came when I had run out of my Japanese hair bands. I looked everywhere to find more. Everywhere! Well, guess what? Asian City had them in multiple sizes and colors at rock bottom prices. The folks are so nice, and there is constantly new stuff coming in the door. The selection of headbands and barettes and clips is awesome. I love the aisles of brightly colored paper parasols and they have tons of beads at great prices. read more

There was once a time when if you had a hankering to buy some fresh bamboo, a sculpture of the Buddha, one of those swinging little drums from Karate Kid II, a set of meditation balls (Baoding Balls), a statuette of a white grinning cat, or a samurai sword for some home defense... you needn't go any farther than your local mall. These Asian gift shops were to be found everywhere and they were all the rage. But for whatever reason their popularity seemed to die out and these shops slowly vanished from existence. However, fear not.... like Voltron, these tiny stores have "joined together" to form the mighty SUPER store knows as Asian City! This place is huge and their selection of nick-nacks is truly awe inspiring. This monstrosity of a store is located on 90th South and Redwood Road, I believe it used to be a grocery store. And this place is a gem. I have already spent hours slowly walking her aisles, softly chuckling to myself as I play with this or that and envision what kitschy items I can buy to further adorn my apartment and add to it's feng shui. I don't want to list what these guys sell as it would be extensive and tedious but I will say, with confidence, that they sell everything except food - for food I would recommend Ocean Market down the street. You can even buy live fish (Koi) here. In addition, they have a huge selection of kitchen/restaurant goods. So any entrepreneurs looking to open the next great sushi house or noodle joint need only come here. Parking is plentiful, and the prices are just right. Each time I have gone my cashiers have been pleasant and friendly at check out. However, this place seems to always be empty and this worries me. I hope this amazing store stays open for awhile. Dropped $60 & came out with everything I needed (but without the wig I wanted, but only because I didn't have the time to shop the wigs). They got popular Korean and Japanese brands. Everytime, you buy something there, they will give you a lot of free samples. As an employee, I know for a fact that they really care about their customers and really take feedback into consideration. Anna, the store manager, is really detail-oriented and goes out of her way to find products for her customers. As a customer, I was surprised by the wide range of products, particularly Asian ones since they are definitely hard to come by. I was very impressed by their anime selection both for collecting and for cosplay costumes. They also have wide array of kitchen cooking ware and appliances to bedding to clothes. The employees literally follow you through out the whole store.... I went with my father to shop here yesterday and he felt uncomfortable too. The lady at the shop was literally on my ass. I used to come here often to buy cosmetics, but recently stop going because the prices. Prices for the products are way too overpriced. Not to mention that many of their products are discontinued and have been there for many years now, so I am pretty sure they are expired. AC even carries a few scattered pieces of somewhat odd furniture up front, forever-long aisles of plastic storage containers, Asian sandals and a small smattering of various other Eastern-inspired clothing items, and a double aisle of what I would consider disposable kids' toys. Everything seemed very affordable, too...an Asian Honks to some degree. My first visit, and I was hoping to find a few required culinary ingredients. They had everything but. I strolled around the entire place, from shelving displays through aisles and found a lot of stuff that would have been a kick to take home, but absolutely nothing I needed. There aren't many stores in Utah with this large of a range of Asian products, but Asian City has all kinds of products. They have Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc products. Other than necessities, there are also anime products, cute plushies, and so many cute little Asian toys! I love the cute Totoro plushies and the anime figurines. I got a cute little cat plushie for my car. The beauty products have a great range of variety as well. I used to import my Korean face masks from South Korea, but Asian City sells the same masks, so I'll start buying them from there instead. Overall, I like the store because of the big variety, but sometimes the quality of the products aren't the best. You just have to be careful with what you buy. Always check the quality. read more

So when I first went here during the grand opening, boxes were all over the place and it was apparent they were still setting things up and most of the aisles were empty. To say it bluntly, I wasn't impressed with what I saw. Today, a few months later, I visited it once more and have to say that I'm glad I did and my opinion of the place has changed. This will probably end up being Utah's one-stop place for Asian gifts, cookware, and Feng Shui items. Also, they advertise that a food court featuring Taiwanese, Hong Kong, Vietnamese cuisines, and Japanese sushi will be open soon. Keep in mind, there is a Chinatown being built over on State Street around 34th South. One thing I noticed, as others have, is the place doesn't get a lot of customers. The huge parking lot only has a few cars. So I wonder how this place will fare against the new Chinatown area. Anyway, I came in looking for one of those steel Vietnamese coffee filters, but was slightly disappointed to not see them have it in stock, or maybe I wasn't looking at the right place. But, I did like seeing them stock some Japanese air fresheners for cars. They had a good variety from My Shaldan to Glare. I also ended up getting a big bowl and some chopsticks :) Give this place a try. It has huge potential and I hope it's realized before Chinatown opens. read more

Basically a huge Asian mall with a random assortment of items from restaurant supply, home cooking supply, clothing, Asian make up (like Shiseido, but I don't use products that test on animals so I wasn't interested in that), otaku items, weaponry: you name it they probably have it. My main reason for stopping in was because I heard they sell Totoro stuff (a Japanese animated film). Their selection was much smaller than anticipated but what they did have was priced really well; some items would be triple their price had I purchased them in Northern or Southern California. The store reminds me of a Daiso (a Japanese convienence store: Daiso has better prices on some items but Asian City is on a larger scale. All in all, I'm pretty sure anyone can find something they want in this store. read more

Looking for a good laugh or some cheap koi fish? In the words of Brigham Young, this is the place! I was pretty blown away by how big this place is. I don't know why, as I was always here when it was an albertsons, but let me have my moment. The first thing I saw upon walking in was a sea of naked mannequins. I knew instantly that this place was a gem. I ventured into the sea, and it turns out that those mannequins are actually super cheap. I was incredibly tempted to buy one. I don't know what I'd do with it, but I still want one. Once I tore myself away from the mannequins, I ventured deeper into the store. I won't lie, it was pretty overwhelming! There is just so much stuff here. They have Asian decor, Asian food, koi fish, and all sorts of cookware. You can fulfill just about any Asian need you have by just walking into this place. Hell, you can pick up a koi fish for $5. My favorite part of the store was the weapons department. They keep them locked up for obvious reasons, but are more than happy to get you whatever you want out of the case. I ended up purchasing a lipstick tube...that is actually a knife. It was discreet and super cheap, which is always a plus. The customer service was great, and everyone was super friendly. I will be back once the food court opens! read more

A lot of times when people say, "oh they had everything" all they really mean is that they had a lot of stuff. But this place literally has everything. Restroom gender signs for your establishment? Got it. Huge mixing ladles for 12 gallons of soup your making? Check. Women's fashion accessories? Yup. Samurai swords? Sure, got those too. They have plenty of household items ranging from bamboo chopstick to table linen. Also have clothes, some hit and miss with the current fashion but still fun at a reasonable price. They also carry cheap shoes like Diva brand but for 20 bucks for the latest style of high heels... I wouldn't mind buying them to get trample at the club vs my expensive end one. The jewelry is fantastic!!!! So many colors and style from gaudy to classy. They also carry swords. I assumed they are mostly decorative but still very fun to have. But the one true thing I come here for is the makeup: Korean and Japanese!!!! I usually have to hunt on Amazon to get what I want but this place is slowly adding more popular line. The prices for the makeup I will admit is a few dollars more but it is worth coming here to be able to try the tester out before buying. I come on the weekend so I have mostly been getting help from Keiko but the other ladies I have met seem really nice. Keiko not only willing to give you the best recommendation for hair/skin product depending on your skin type and she is so dang nice! Some of the line I noticed they carry is Skin Food, Tonymoly, petit BB, Missha, Laneige, Shisheido, IOPE (bless the air cushion xp!!!!). They carry about 3 times more and I can't wait to try them all out. This is not an advertisement for their makeup counter, but I heard the owner is unsure if it is cost effective to keep it open so please please come and support the local if you are currently buying online. They also give out a hugeeee amount of samples when you buy, regardless of how much. As for the other staffs in the store... I'm sure everyone have heard that Chinese workers are very rude and can be stone cold to the customers, well not this place! Within 5 mins of walking in, I got offered assistant twice. I have not met a single staff that was unhelpful. For example: I was paying for a branch of silk flowers, the cashier noticed that it was missing one flower (I didn't notice it) she insisted on getting another branch for me. We made our first trip to Asian City in West Jordan Utah today. I can't believe we didn't know this store existed. We were impressed with the quantity, quality, and prices of items. Want chopsticks? There are so many to choose from and beautiful ones too. They also sell bulk disposable chopsticks. Dresses? Jewelry? Shoes? Bamboo plants? Bonsais? Planting pots? They have such a variety. I love this place! The japanese cosmetics section is larger than any I've seen in SLC. Love all of their eyelashes. They also have a great variety of bento, cooking supplies, affordable jewelry, and fun nick-nacks. Plus they have a ton of wigs, more pricey, but great quality and perfect for cosplayers in a pinch.
