This review is written based on 100+ visits to the Asian Buffet, a Chinese American eatery located on the Denton Highway in Watauga, TX. The service is incredible, they keep your drinks full, table clear. The Buffet is well stocked with the best Asian all you can eat Sushi, Seafoods, Chicken, Beef, and an excellent Hibachi grill that serves up the best flavors of the east. This is by far the best Asian Buffet between Anchorage, Alaska to Los Angeles, California, over to Miami, Florida that I have sat down for a meal. Today we came back to Asian buffet during lunch time on a Thursday. It's about $33 for two with a drink. Not bad. Service was good as usual. The guy asked us if we wanted to refill our sodas multiple times. Table was clean. Again I stand by my recommendation of going for the Mongolian grill which is in the back. You'll at least have one plate of fresh food and some protein. I always have one when I go here. They accept cash tips. I usually get the noodles, shrimp, green bell peppers, eggs, mushroom, oil, garlic, pineapple etc. maybe skip onions since sometimes it has that weird smell or taste. I always finish my Mongolian plate. Everything else can be hit or miss. I liked the egg drop soup more this time and I didn't notice the wonton chips being stale. No salt needed. Maybe they do read the reviews! Reminder to skip the green onions as they're a bit strong. The corn was also more palatable this time than last. The cream cheese wontons are usually a hit for me. Most of the other Chinese food was okay this time. A lot of the chickens and stuff were a bit hard. The Mac and cheese wasn't too bad. For dessert I did get the apple pie with a little vanilla ice cream. I saw some Bavarian cream stuff that was nice. Got some fruit. I followed one of their fortune cookie advice and I feel like it was very nice. However I think I found a fortune cookie that was just a cookie and no fortune cause I went to go read his but there was no paper in there. Very surprising. Overall, I wouldn't expect too much it's not supposed to be a fancy buffet. I don't even know where to begin. Briley told me to try this place, and honestly, I thought it was just going to be another average stop... but I was wrong. So, so wrong. First of all--oh jeez, these oranges are so good! I'm not exaggerating when I say I ate 20 oranges. Not 2. Not 5. Twenty. And I regret nothing. Now, yes, technically this is an Asian buffet. There was fried rice, noodles, dumplings, all that stuff--and yeah, it was great--but let's stay focused on what really matters here: the oranges. Perfectly sliced, juicy, life-changing oranges. At some point around orange number 12, I started having a moment of clarity. By orange 17, I felt like a new person. And by orange 20... I'm pretty sure these oranges fixed my marriage. Now, small detail--I'm not married. But emotionally? Spiritually? After those oranges? I feel like I was, and now it's better than ever. In fact, I think I might be married to the oranges now. There is a sign on their door that says lunch buffet is 10.99 weekdays...yet they charged me 12.99. The food is still lackluster...sitting quite a while. I'm visiting my mom and we decided to try this place out for lunch due to the reviews on yelp and google. I'm sorry but this place is not good. I'm confused by the ratings. We were sat and given our drinks. There were a few parties in the restaurant. They had a lot of items but half of the items I put on my plate tasted gross, mushy and like they had been sitting out for hours. The meat in mongolian beef, orange chicken, chicken on the stick and beef broccoli were not edible. Their crab rangoons and egg rolls were not good. The only things I was able to eat were the lo mein noodles, sesame balls and the honey chicken. Very disappointing. Would not go back. read more

Our family usually eat at this Asian Buffet, it's close to home, they have a good selection, I always get food from the hibachi; it stays hotter longer. They have 4 different soups, plenty of vegetable/meat dishes, sushi, dumplings, bean balls, noodles, salads, desserts and a variety of fruit. The service is good of course we go so often they know us. The restaurant is clean, they have several TVs to watch the news of game show. So if you are a party of 1 or 20 this is a good buffet to try. There's also an ice cream bar. read more

This place was just okay for me. A lot of the food tasted like it had been out for awhile. Not bad, just not as fresh as I would have liked. The service was okay too. I ran low on drinks several times, they eventually came but it always took a bit. My longest wait was for me check and when I am ready to go I am ready to go. The ambiance also was just okay. I've been coming here since I was 8 or 9 years old.. now i'm 20. It's one of my favorite buffets ever, definitely cheaper and you get your moneys worth. The ambiance, service and food is always good. They did renovated and changed a few things but they never changed the food, and I will always forever recommend this place. In my stay throughout my life, no server was rude and always kind. I have eaten here a lot over the years. The server ladies work very hard keeping the tables clean of used plates and getting drinks. The food is ok average what would be expected of a buffet, Unfortunately tonight when i finished a plate of Mongolian beef and broccoli, mushrooms and green beans there literally was a plate of oil that covered the entire plate. Also on the last several occasions I had immense immediate bath room issues of diarrhea likely due to off temperature food. I have NEVER seen anyone checking for proper food serving temps. I guess the only way to eat there in the future will have to be the hibachi cooked fresh. read more

I couldn't give you one item on this buffet that was worth anything. There is nothing Asian about this place. The food is disgusting. Be prepared to go through a lot of napkins. If I could give less stars I would. First they were so rude. The waitress seemed really bothered that we came in. The food was horrible, I honestly don't think I've ever eaten anything worse. It looked like it had been sitting under a lamp all day. I think I maybe had one bite of everything on my plate and I am still feeling sick a couple hours later. I decided I would skip the warm food and maybe grab a salad but when I went to the salad bar there was very little salad and what was in there was brown wilted pieces so I skipped on that also. After we ate they brought us the bill we handed them our card and she came back 20 minutes later saying they still have the card that they are having trouble with the computers it seemed a bit weird... We ended up paying 90$ and ended up eating very little food. We will not be going back. My step son said he and his girlfriend went and they were racist towards her and they made them pay before eating!!! Crazy that this place is even in business. Check your receipt! Upon entering we told them 1 Senior. She confirmed it back but at checkout they didn't apply the senior discount to our 3 party group. This is my favorite Asian buffet with good food and good service except this most recent visit we came Saturday shortly after they opened so the food was lukewarm bc the serving trays weren't fully heated and the sushi rice tasted a day old. But that's not the usual experience so I'll rate them based on past experiences. My favorites are the salmon, fried butterflied shrimp, calamari, and the chocolate mocha coffee cake. read more

In town on a work trip and thought I'd try this place. Friday night and it was not busy at all, maybe 15 tables were taken and that is at most. Server was great, although one time she scared the crap out of me when she jumped onto the other side of my booth to replace the napkins in the holder. I was not expecting that. The food itself was decent, nothing really stood out as being better than any other buffet I been to. The "hibachi chicken" was good though. The had small crab half's that nobody ate, I was hoping Friday night would bring regular crabs legs but not. They had a Mongolian area which looked good but I didn't eat. Place was clean except the walk area to the bathrooms where it had really sticky floors. It was ok, and I was not upset when I left but it's just like any ordinary Asian buffet.
