    Custard Bun
    Shirley R.

My go to bakery that I visit weekly! Always consistently good with so much to choose from and great prices. After trying other custard buns and egg tarts around Chinatown this still remains my favorite. They have savory and sweet options including buns, breads, cookies, cakes and rolls. They have a small countertop area to sit, the business is small and packed with so many options. Love it!!

I came here years ago and they weren't very nice to me so I never came back. But! The ladies working here were really nice and friendly this time around! I came today to try the coffee + milk tea drink. I also got one of their roll cakes. Cake was yummy, coffee a little watered down. Small space but a lot to choose from. Coffee and cake came out to be just under $6. I think that's an okay price. A con though, I don't remember things being labeled so you just either know what the item is or ask.

We wanted some Chinese bakery items and came across this bakery while walking around in Philly. It was a little busy. It's hard to see the names of everything but it was cheap & good! Wish it was clearer to see everything as the shop was a bit cramped but decent

Frozen steam BBQ pork buns. 6 in a bag, have to request.

Wonderful place to get BBQ Buns, BBQ crisps, and Chinese bakery goods. Of course, their specialty are the BBQ Buns and Crisps. They also have frozen steamed BBQ buns available as well, but you need to ask for them. Owner is friendly, and can communicate in English and Mandarin. Cash or credit card with small fee. Store front is not large, and you may miss it if not paying attention. They also can do custom bakery if you call ahead of time.

    Bolo Bao

My friend bought bolo baos from here back to me. The dough is huge and the topping barely covers the whole bolo bao, the bao itself is pretty sweet. An authentic bolo bao isn't as doughy with the topping covering the whole surface of the bao.

Eat your buns slow - bought this ham and egg bun with a bolt/nail in it today 6/12/22

Wow, there was a bolt/nail cooked into the bun. This is very dangerous. Thank God, it was an adult eating and not a child. Won't be coming back here again.

    "Almond" Cake for $3.50

Came here in the afternoon on Christmas day and it was pretty popping! There were quite a few people in the store and the ladies at the counter were shouting "next!" and "can I help you?" at the people coming in. The store was stocked even though it was late in the afternoon. They had a lot of cake slices, roll cakes, and the classic stuff like baked buns, sesame balls. They also had some banh mi (filled with carrots, cilantro and probably some meat) on the cashier's counter too, which was cool but seemed out of place at a bakery like this but ‍ I got a slice of cake labeled "almond cake". I'd give it a 4/5, the cake was moist and the icing was light and not overly sweet but the icing did not taste fresh. It had a slight taste that made it seem premade from a factory. Also, I didn't taste any almond flavor. But that's okay, the cake was still pretty good. To be honest, I'd give this a place a 5/5 if it weren't for all the cashier ladies shouting and stressing me out while I'm tryna figure out what I want LOL But that's the real asian bakery experience I guess Would def come here again. Don't forget to bring cash! (Most asian bakeries in Chinatown are cash only / they strongly prefer cash)

After a traumatizing experience at Mong Kok (refer to my Mong Kok review) I was looking for a new bakery in Chinatown ... literally walking back and forth on the streets ... and low and behold I run into Asia Bakery. I was really craving Egg Tarts and Custard Buns and they had it! The two women at the counter helped my find the things I needed and were super hospitable. When I got home and was able to share them with my partner both the Egg Tarts and Custard Buns were delicious but not too overly sweet which I appreciated. Usually some custard buns are pipied with sugar but Asia Bakery's was not -- thank God. When in CT, get your baked goods from here! Buns galore!

The egg tart is not too sweet, none of these breads are (aka high praise for any pastries ). Would definitely return! I thought the service was nice. If you know, you know. The pastries here are absolutely worth the detour--and honestly, wherever I see a Paris Baguette, I do pull over. That includes locations I've visited in Northern California, North Brunswick, New Jersey, Atlanta, Georgia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and even the one here in Charlotte down in Pineville. It's a bit of a drive for me, but when I'm in that area, I always make a point to stop in and pick up a couple of their delicious croissant-donut pastries and marzipan or almond croissants. That's the beauty of this bakery--it's a chain, yes, but the consistency is what keeps me coming back. I have yet to be disappointed. Of course, I had to stop at this Hilton Head location--and I didn't come empty-handed. Food connects people, and bringing pastries to your host is always a winning move. I picked up three different varieties of their famous croissant-donut style pastries (similar to the well-known cronut): * Chocolate * Tiramisu * Mango And I added two large almond croissants that were beautifully filled, flaky, and indulgent. Everything looked fresh, full, and irresistible. The setup inside is easy and efficient. It's self-serve: you grab a tray, line it with parchment, use the tongs, and select whatever catches your eye--from baguettes to cakes to coffee drinks. Checkout was quick, Apple Pay was accepted, and the whole experience felt smooth and well organized. The space was clean, friendly, and inviting, with plenty of outdoor seating. Bottom line: Whenever you see a Paris Baguette on your radar, pull over. It's dependable, delicious, and perfect for picking up pastries to share--or to treat yourself. For me, it's one of those rare places that delivers the same quality every single time, no matter the city--and that kind of consistency is something I truly appreciate as a traveler and lifelong foodie.
