I told them it was no big deal for me to come back later and they asked if 230 would be okay. Me and my kids went to The Teahouse (you can see that review too) and had a nice time and then came back. The stylist who did my hair was a lovely person and she gave me exactly what I was looking for....she also gives the best head rubs while she washes your hair. I explained concerns from a previous experience here solely to clarify my preferences and ensure a good stylist match. Instead of asking follow-up questions or discussing fit, he made a snap judgment that I "wouldn't like it here," refused to explain his reasoning, and abruptly ended the call. Declining a client is one thing; doing so without explanation and hanging up is another, ESPECIALLY when at no point did I talk or behave in a way that was inappropriate, or out of line. I did my due diligence as a client. I was consistently polite, never lodged formal complaints, never criticized stylists directly for their work, and compensated fairly with tips regardless of personal preference or outcome. Being abruptly told that I'm not a good fit there by a receptionist/"manager" who is not the service provider and does not have firsthand involvement in the stylist-client relationship is not only disproportionate and inappropriate but a role violation. While I understand that businesses may set boundaries when a client crosses a line, that was not the case here. The decision to cut off service without prior discussion, warning, or involvement from the stylist themselves was uncalled for, completely baseless, and outside of his role. This is outside of his authority to make this abrupt subjective judgement call. His conduct falls below acceptable ethical, moral and professional standards. A qualified manager would have asked what didn't work previously and determined whether the salon could meet those expectations. That conversation never happened. This action was extreme, beyond unjustified, especially given that no complaint was being made at the time and no misconduct had occurred Sharing this for others who value respectful communication and professional consultation when booking services.

I thought I'd search Yelp and see who I could find with great reviews. Up pops Yvette's Salon with 5 star reviews and close to home. I called Vivian on the 3rd and was excited she had an opening on the 5th after the holiday. The shop is located in a converted house located on 4th Street. The parking lot isn't large but works well since clients rotate in and out. A very nice ramp runs beside the parking lot. Yvette's has great hours and opens early, at 9:00, and closes at 6:00 Tueday - Friday. Saturday hours are 8:00 - 5:00. Vivian was just finishing up with a client as I arrived. After a few minutes she was ready for me. I showed her a couple pictures but ended up staying with the same cut. After a quick wash she began. She was confident, quick and paid attention to tiny details. All the girls were focused on their clients and not taking among themselves. Vivian was friendly, kind of quite and listened closely. My cut is a tad shorter than I expected but I like the style. Remember it's been 8 weeks so I haven't seen short hair for awhile. I'll definitely use Vivian the next time I'm in town and probably go cut and color. She's affordable and I'd like to see what she does with color. The reviews note she's excellent with color.
