Great for simple extensions, not very good for whole head extensions. My gf got a bad haircut and needed extensions, for her whole head. So she went to to the hair extension shop Ashley recommended and got the extensions (about $400), we had no problems with this because it is for her whole head, not just a few streaks, also the quality of the extensions was supposedly better. However it's the way she attached them that is a cheap and slacking way of doing it. Because my gf needed expensions for the whole hair the procedure would be more complex, with the long width extension ur suppose to split open the fake hair and insert ur own hair in and glue them together, that way they STAY, but what Ashley basically did was just staple the fake hair onto the real hair, so there were actually spaces and gaps in between the hair, each time she brushes the extensions would start falling out little by little Within 2 weeks my gfs extensions start coming loose and falling out of her hair. Ashley is a nice person, and I believe she spent about 4-5 hours that night for the job, And I'm not judging the way she works kus I'm not an expert on girly extensions, but when u just blew 700 for a hairdo that does not last, well that leaves a sour taste to ur mouth I'm sure Ashley does a great job doing the simple extensions, but if u need to do ur whole hair, u probably need to look elsewhere. I have been going to Ashley for a while, I found her on Yelp and am SO GLAD I did. She is friendly, professional , and makes you look your best. I literally feel like I don't have to even dress up or wear as much makeup..because my hair adds such a finished look to my attire... Even when wet! I shopped around and asked most people who have extensions, EVERYWHERE was a thousand dollars or more. Don't believe me... Call and ask around The hair salon is intimate, you get personal attention without having to deal with the group of gossiping women. She is super sweet and takes time to get to know you while she does your hair. She is also very patient and is always excited to do my hair (even if I change my mind once a month) . You can listen to pandora radio, watch Netflix on a big screen or look at the magazines she has. She does a number of types of extensions and you can book online for convience. I was amazed at the one negative review! Ashley explains in detail how to care for your extensions and does maintaince. Obviously if you use a regular brush, or just brush your hair like normal you'll rip out extensions! If you yank on them non stop.. They will come out. I'm super active, style my hair in crazy styles all the time and still have had no problems with my hair. She is more professional and skilled at the trade than anyone I have met. Even when I get my hair done for a special occasion, other hair stylists are impressed at the quality of my extensions. Maintaining my extensions is as easy as having my own hair. I have been doing micro links and have had people compliment my hair at least 3 times a week, In all of the people who have asked and complimented my hair , the only and best compliment is "omg your hair is so beautiful how did you grow it out like that" not once has someone asked if they were extensions...even with bright colors in my hair! Be honest! Tell her exactly what you want. Hair is not cheap and you cant expect Hair to your waist for a hundred bucks, but you can save up and take really good care of your hair so you only pay for maintanance and not new hair every time read more

I'm usually too lazy to review anything on Yelp, but Ashley is totally worth the review. Not only is she sweet and SO talented, but her prices are incredibly reasonable too. I naturally have really thin, fine hair that refuses to grow past my collarbone and I HATE it. It's one of the things that I'm the most self-conscious about I've had virtually every type of extension and all of them have either looked fake, been insanely expensive or ruined my hair. I had skin wefts put in last week and she matched my hair perfectly, which is really hard to do since I'm strawberry blonde with lighter blonde highlights. They also look AMAZING - totally natural and I can't feel them at all. I even went swimming with them this weekend and you couldn't see the wefts when my hair was wet. Since I've gotten them, I've had three random people stop me and tell me how beautiful my hair is, and they were all totally surprised when they found out I had extensions. You know what sucks ass? Getting extensions sucks ass, that's what. It's time consuming, expensive & the shit hurts for a week after you get it installed. Short hair makes me feel depressed, so I thought clip-ins would be a nice solution. A few weeks ago, I wore my clip-in hair extensions to Vivian T.'s birthday party. She did not hesitate to inform me that clip-ins are inconvenient and lame, and that I should really look up Ashley on Craigslist to put in some real extensions. Needless to say, I e-mailed this girl in less than a week. Like Vivian mentioned, Ashley offered a free consultation where she gave very specific instructions on what kind of hair to buy and where to get it. Unfortunately, being the very-stubborn and semi-frugal person I am, I decided to buy wholesale hair from the Fashion District. PLEASE do not do this -- they have a limited selection, and my "100% human hair" turned out to be partially synthetic. The ends of my hair look like grass. I tried extensions for the first time about two months ago and it was a disaster. The hair did not match my own well enough and there wasn't enough of it to fill my short, bobbed curly cut. Ashley is awesome. I had found her through Craigslist, and looked through her myspace to see her before/after shots of clients. Her pricing is VERY budget friendly compared to salon pricing, but it is definitely salon quality, unlike other cheapy finds from the internet, where a random person invites you to their house, braids your hair, and sews in some tracks that last 2 weeks. Her apartment turned studio is actually quite easy to find, but parking in the area is x_x, so heed this advice: after you see that House of Pies, turn into a residential area, and seat your car somewhere and do a little walking :). I was actually afraid to find a craigslist creepy person, but she was very friendly over the phone, and very helpful with directions. She invited me over for a free consultation, where she evaluated my hair type, scalp type, and asked me a few questions of my habits (how often I brush, etc). She matched a few colors, and suggested to get highlights so that it blends better. This is because my hair was previously super light blonde, and I dyed it dark brown over twice, but the blonde area keeps fading. With the highlights, its less obvious that the top of my head is a completely different color than the bottom parts of my hair. She saved me from having to dye again, damaging again =). Anyway, I got ALOT of compliments from those who knew I had extensions, telling me that they look very natural, and those who didn't know me prior, and saw me after I took them off, told me they had never thought the hair was extensions. I am now 3K+ miles away from "Americas Next Extensionista" :'-( It is terrible to have extensions and your extensions tech to be in Cali when I live in the Lone Star State. I make every effort to still come to LA and get my maintenance/redo with Ashley. She is that good. I went without maintenance for a while because I couldn't make it to LA. Decided to try someone new in Houston as I was coming to the realization that I couldn't just travel to California to get my hair done (easy way to throw away $$ quickly, though worth it cuz it's Ashley). The micro links started to fall off within the first month and by the bunch in a matter of weeks. I could even tell I was losing body pounds from losing the hair. The pounds off was nice :-) not to mention my hair was tangled and matted. I saw Ashley on January 23rd 2015, and not one single strand has fallen out. They are secure and in place. My hair isn't tangle, it NEVER tangles with Ashley. She is really Amazing at what she does. You must try her!!! read more

If you are looking for affordable hair extensions, this is a pretty good place to start. I am giving the salon three stars, but it is hard to say if my issues would be universal, or if they are special to me and my hair. I have been doing tape-ins for almost 4 months now, and I was surprised that I am having to get them re-done every 4 weeks. Of course some of it is because my hair is growing, but some of it is because of slippage. I do have very fine hair, so maybe I am experiencing more slippage than most people, but, $250/month is quite a lot. I am also pretty unsatisfied with the hair itself - perhaps I just needed to buy higher quality hair, but I bought what was recommended and I thought it would last about 6 months. I am having the hair removed in a few weeks (so after 4 months of wear) because it is so dry and looks not great. The hair was actually noticeably bad at about 3 months, but I thought a trim would take care of the issue - but nope! No amount of moisturizing hair masks, oils, or conditioners will revive these ends. On the plus side, my natural hair ends have never looked better! My last note will be regarding application technique - I only saw Ashley at my first consultation, and she was great. For the application and ongoing care, I have seen Stephanie. My first experience with Stephanie was great, but each time I have gone in, the service seems to be a little worse. I am waiting a little longer to be seen, and the application process feels more and more rushed. The last time I had my hair re-done, I walked out with one tab on one side of my head, while the other side had three - so, pretty uneven application. On top of that, there were a lot of little stray hairs in the different tabs. Maybe it was because I was the last appointment of the day, and we started 45 minutes late, so she was rushing through trying to get done. That, coupled with the super dry extension, is the reason I am not going to continue coming here. So, my recommendation is to try out this salon if you are looking to change up your look for less than many other LA salons, but maybe steer clear of the SmartTabs hair and go for something higher quality for longer lasting results and pay a little more to get an appointment with Ashley. I have experience with extension (used Great Lengths before) and didn't experience these issues, which could be due to the quality of hair, the type of application, or the actual application skills. read more

The instructions on how to order the hair, and the "installation" care instructions are clear and written down for your convenience. Ashley is PROFESSIONAL. Your appointment will begin ON-TIME without her non-work related issues clouding your session. She is very concerned with your satisfaction. She is also a warm person without being intrusive and intuitive. For example she realized I was a little uncertain about my first style w/ micro links she offered to change it up, and when I declined invited me to come back if I was wanted to make changes after I tried it out.for a few days. The fact that she volunteered to see me again in case I decided I wasn't thrilled in a couple of days, is VERY IMPRESSIVE. I have used her services twice. Both times , my micro links looked FANTASTIC when she finished installation! I received (and still do) many compliments. The perk of this style over a sewn in weave: it is faster, for me MUCH less damaging, flexibly with styling and your hair moves naturally...no wigginess. On the business end, she will accept credit card payments through Paypal. She may work from her residence, but YOU WILL LEAVE HAPPY with SALON QUALITY RESULTS.... Parking is available on the street with metered machines or in a lot all day for $5.00 but you will not need to be there all day. I have been going to Ashley for about 3 years and would not trust anyone else with my extensions! I am extremely specific in terms of my hair and Ashley gets it right each and every time--also the prices are legit. The salon is clean and organized. This is an update to my first review. I am so happy for Ashley's success and I wish her all the best but I feel her quality has decreased tremendously and therefore I will no longer be a client of hers. Multiple times I had to return to Ashley to put back the extensions because they had fallen out prematurely. The micro links also began to chip and the paint fell off. I have black/brown hair and after a few weeks, I would have white links showing in my hair which was embarrassing. I told Ashley about this on several occasions and she would tell me to color the links with a black sharpie. Her response was disappointing. If she expects me to color in the links with a sharpie, then she should not promote excellent service. I also feel her hair cutting skills are not up to par. She was unable to adequately blend in my hair with the extensions and I often had to go to another hair stylist to trim it properly. I do feel her prices are good and she has been very nice but I think that I am willing to spend more to have better quality extensions else where. read more

Ashley is simply amazing. I support small businesses, and she is definitely a great woman at her craft. I was visiting LA for only a couple days. I called her SAME morning as my birthday, Tuesday July 5th. Luckily for me, that day she had a cancellation and was able to see me within the hour. I really was not expecting more than a consultation, but she told me she had the hair in stock and was able to give me extensions that day. Upon arriving to her hair studio, I happened to find parking in a paid lot. It was $4 for the whole day! I didn't have to worry about a metered spot like what most girls are mentioning on the reviews. When I met Ashley I knew she was going to be wonderful. We immediately clicked on a professional and friendly level. She is really knowledgable and gave me her most honest opinion. My hair was a little on the short side for extensions, but she still managed to make it work out PERFECTLY! It took a little over three hours to finish, and afterwards she even styled it with a flat iron to give me the Kim Kardashian waves in my 18" long hair! Lets just say after I left, I was stunned at what a great job she did. My hair is growing so fast now, I told her I felt like I might have to fly back just to have her make the adjustments! DO NOT COME HERE. I had hair extensions installed by Ashley for my wedding. 9 days later they started falling out. I was in Canada for my wedding so I told her they were falling out and asked her what to do. She did not seem surprised and didn't even apologize for what was happening and then told me to "just secure it with a Bobby pin." 5 tape in hair extensions had completely come out just TWO days before my wedding. I had to drive an hour and a half to the only salon that could fix them. This is NOT something you wanna deal with two days before your wedding. The salon that fixed them told me that the installation was not done properly and showed me that the tape ins were ripping out a lot of my natural hair at the ROOT. So not only was my purchased hair falling out, it was ripping out my real hair as well. Fortunately that salon could reapply the ones coming out, but sure enough, on my actually wedding day, more extensions were coming loose. Trust me, the last thing you want to be worried about your on your wedding day is your hair falling out. After coming back to LA, I asked for them to be reinstalled and she scheduled me to come in with another hair person. I showed her that my hair was being ripped out and she also did not seem to care or say anything about how that shouldn't be happening. It's been 8 days after reinstall and many are coming loose AGAIN. I followed all care instructions and both installations from different people have come loose. Any properly run business should be doing everything they can to rectify an unhappy experience. There was no apology nor properly redone service in my case. After the amount of money I paid for my hair & install, there is absolutely no excuse for the quality of service I received before and after the most important day of my life. Again. There's an old expression about person's character being revealed by how she treats someone who can do her no good. Many people, especially in LA (I think) are nice till they realize you can't benefit them at all. Ashley isn't one of them. I have short hair and a lot of it, and wanted extensions till my hair grew out. I don't want longlooong hair, just to my shoulders. I had extensions many years ago, and knew new methods had improved, if not revolutionized, the industry, so I called for a consult with Ashley. She was both professional and fun -- the perfect balance when you're talking about hair. She spent a long time with me, even after we realized that the amount of hair I'd need (I have fine hair, but enough for three people) would be costly. When I thanked her for her patience, she smiled and replied, "I"m a patient person," then realizing that could be taken as less-than-enthusiasm, added, "No worries, I don't have anyplace to be." I still might get extensions from Ashley -- I have the money, and I won't miss the dough. And I have no doubt she is good at her job, and the best choice for extensions in this neighborhood -- in most neighborhoods, in fact. The four stars rather than five is because I felt I had to ask a few times, "How can we make it less expensive?" and her stock reply was "Extensions are an investment." Which is undoubtedly true. Perhaps I should have asked "How can I make it a less expensive investment?" :-) I was the one who had to suggest other methods or or less hair, specific remedies to lower the cost. (I don't at all think she was trying to jack up the price, btw. She charges a flat fee, not by the strand. I understood it was her high standards and experience giving the e$timate. Which I can totally appreciate.) I ended up with two estimates, one for top-of-the line expensive, and one for how-I've-done-it-before. Much to her credit, once she got on that road with me, she came up with a couple of other solutions that I'd never have thought of, myself. A fine experience. And her salon in her home is totally cute and perfect. CmON. (Another Yelper found fault with this. Mental eye roll. ) She has a huge Audrey form "Breakfast at Tiffany's" poster by your chair. I've been going to Ashley for over a year now for my extensions. I've gone to fancy salons and other independent stylists, but she is by far the best! Her studio is very clean and well maintained. Not only are her hair skills up to par, but her personality is exceptional She's very sweet to talk to making the time go by in no time at all. I made a consultation with Ashley and she totally knew what she was talking about. I have super thick and short hair and she went through my hair and wrote everything down on a hair prescription pad...She answered all my questions without having to ask them. I was very nervous because I did have a bad hair extension experience. Finally she put in my Extensions cut it to a shape that matched my hair I got dark brown virgin Indian. I regularly see her now for maintenance and I don't have problems w my extensions falling out. Would def recommend and well worth it price is reasonable. Fyi I took my son with me he's 3 and she was great I had to bring him...& he got fussy she offered him an organic apple. Ashley is great! The salon is located in a very professional environment with all the trimmings, including privacy and wine is offered in the lobby. I would recommend Ashley, she is very skilled, organized and pleasant. The salon even offers movies while you receive services. Best, my hair extensions remain for at least a two months and that very important. I get maintenance services every couple months but no complaints thus far. I have had extensions off and on for about 7 years. I work in the entertainment industry so I've seen really great extensions and really bad ones. Needless to say I'm extremely picky. Ashley is the absolute best. Not only is she great at what she does, she's honest. Instead of trying to sell me hair and a ridiculously marked up price she took a look at my hair and told me the best place to find the quality and style (curly or straight) that I was looking for. I had been going to Ashley's Extensions for years. When she operated out of her hole in the wall apartment. Her extension work is inferior now. She is a lot of talk and all profit for herself. She soaks combs in cooking oil. Her salon is a mess and is disgusting. Tons of combs and brushes with client hair in them that are being re-used without being disinfected or sanitized properly. Do not drink the wine because it sits there for weeks. She is delinquent on renewing her cosmetology and other permits to conduct business off and on. She can be nasty and rude and will reschedule you behind your back with one of her Junior Technicians when she knows she can not make a killing off of you like with the newer clients whom she charges 500 bucks for now. What a joke. She has a extensive criminal history in Texas for writing bad checks. So be weary of her and always get a printed receipt for any services performed at the salon. The other two junior technicians are totally aware of her schemes and cover up for her. Go somewhere else where you will not have your hair fall out due to a bad install. read more

I'm an extension newbie -- have wanted them for a long time but the places I found were either very expensive or a little sketchy. I found Ashley on Yelp through the other great reviews and scheduled a free consultation -- she was VERY thorough and took into account not just the look I wanted but my daily schedule, my hair type, etc. -- and her prices are VERY reasonable. Went back for the extensions a few weeks later and was BLOWN AWAY. Not only was she whip fast (seriously out of there in 2 hours, including cut and styling) but she was very fun and very open to helping me find the style that suited me best after the extensions were on. Ashley not only surpassed my needs but matched salon rate extensions with an at home one on one care that was so important and refreshing. She's very professional, she listens to your needs and understands a girls needs for change with her hair.
