This was my first time getting extensions done so I knew I wanted 'the right' person to do them as well as I wanted someone professional, reasonably priced, and their work to speak volumes and MARIAM WAS EXACTLY THAT!!! I am so pleased with how everything went here. I had a haircut I was trying to fix and specifically wanted extensions to help. We set up an initial facetime consultation because our schedules were out of sync to do in person; she gave me a lot of options and went through the pros and cons of each (budget vs. quality etc.). We ended up choosing based on my budget and scheduled an appointment the next week. She did have to push the appointment back but still got me in and stayed late that day so I could have them done before a wedding I had the next morning. She is fantastic. I found Mariam while I was still a baby extensions user--I had gotten tape-ins from someone at a regular salon who wasn't really familiar with extensions, and they were all floppy and sticky and driving me nuts. She knew exactly what to do, because she's a professional. Her extension skills are world-class, she truly is an expert, and her color skills are expert too, so I get everything done in one place. Her salon is private, so you're not dealing with a whole bunch of different people/salon comings-and-goings, you just book with her. And she has wifi so you can work if you want, and Netflix so you can watch shows while you get your hair done. I kind of can't believe I found her, she's that great. Parking is perfect because she's located in the Cinerama Dome building, so you just pull up in the parking garage and walk over, and they validate so it makes it cheaper. That's a big deal for me, to not have to search for parking that will last 2-3 hours, worry about having to pay the meter, security, finding a spot etc...I just pull up and park and walk in. It's great. I almost don't want to share her so she doesn't get too busy to have me as a client or something haha, but if you get extensions and you're in LA...she's the top of the top. So I wanted to give this review after a thorough 3 week wear to really test out my tapes. I mean like really test them out. I went to the gym, I wore my hair up, not styled, everything I would do to my own hair to test them out and this is what I found out. These are the best. I've tried every Itip, weft, keratin tip extension out there. But it was my first time with tapes. Miriam was so sweet to customize them and place them accordingly to my hair type (thin). She colored my hair to match and it's the perfect color I've always wanted a beautiful neutral brown. Even after 3 weeks it hasn't faded orange. She educated me throughout how to maintain them and she really cares. This was the best salon experience I've had. Yes extensions are pricey, but you get what you pay for. Mariam violated my privacy and caused me extreme emotional distress when she told another client about my medically caused hair loss that I had purposefully not disclosed. She went into extreme detail on my use of toppers, my medical condition, and much more - all without my knowledge or consent. Considering I had disclosed this to her with her assurances of confidentiality, and the extreme courage it took for me to work up to see a stylist at all with this condition, I am extremely distressed and disturbed by her lack of professionalism and ethics. I stopped seeing Mariam a few years ago due to her ever changing prices, draconian cancellation policies and unprofessional wait times -- she regularly left me waiting 45+ minutes to an hour with my appointments. Imagine my shock and dismay to find out upon reconnecting with another client/friend recently when she immediately asked if I was really wearing a wig, and that she had found this out from Mariam who not only (unprompted) disclosed to her my use of hair toppers, but went into explicit detail about my hair loss and my medical condition which caused it! This is a massive violation of my privacy and professional ethics, and quite frankly it is disturbing that she views my personal medical information as gossip-fodder. Shame on you Mariam. I did not share this information for a reason. Your lack of ethics and professionalism is astonishing - what you consider to be gossip I found hurtful and offensive. I found Mariam when I needed extensions I got originally done in another country touched up. I thought these were i-tips but apparently they were another kind so Mariam was able to retip all of my extensions and install them as i-tips and I've been coming to her ever since, about a year or so. New to LA, I needed my hair done so I did my research for at least 2 months ( this is so important, researching exactly what you need & knowing all the information on your hair type/ color matching & pricing ) it's your hair lol ! I've been a client of her for 2 years and she slowly started doing business with her despicable techniques on hair extensions, not doing it right compared to the first times when she was showing her 'good' skills. She is sneaky in doing business slowly increasing the price over the years and taking advantage of her clients loyalty. First of all, the hair she orders get tangly after a few washes, she forced me to buy her nasty products at the salon with a shampoo of $60 and all her crappy products leaving everytime with $200 in products, scheduling appointment every 3 weeks to re-do roots or threatening that she would then need to do color correction and charge another 800 bucks! She is full of crap and only thinks of her greedy pocket. Very misleading dishonest. She was always gonna be late for appointment and taking all day to do extensions and leave everytime with a bill of 800-900 bucks!! Not to mention her unprpfesssional behavior and attitude during the appointments that you just wantes to leave and not deal with her crap. She is the best! I originally went to her to fix my old extensions because the previous hair designer installed the hair in random places and they all ended up falling out. Mariam fixed all the pieces and not a single piece came out or slipped down for months. She knows what she's doing when it comes to extensions. I have the individual extensions, but she knows how to do all kinds--Halo, tape ins, clips ins etc. I haven't had her color my hair yet, but I've seen the work she does on others and it always looks phenomenal. The process of putting in the i tips was painless and relatively easy, all I had to do was sit there while she let me watch Netflix in her office. I have been seeing Mariam for a few months now. TLDR: Mariam is amazing, she will listen, be patient, and is PASSIONATE. Do not hesitate to put yourself in her hands. A true professional. I started seeing her because I had a bad experience at another salon in SaMo and needed a new hair lady. Mariam pushed up my extensions and then at my next appt I ended up taking them out for a few weeks. When I told her I needed a break she took them out, toned my hair to a lovely brown and let me go. After a few weeks, I was back!! I was ready to try extensions again. I told her I did not want to cut my hair (my last lady basically forced me to everytime and my hair was so thin and short). Mariam said "ok" no problem! Now my hair is growing out nicely. Mariam went above and beyond to find me rare hair extensions that match my thick but VERY fine dark hair. Not an easy task. She even Facetimed me when she was looking for them!! Mariam is very passionate about this craft and it shows. Then I decided I wanted purple and blue hair- which I have NEVER done. I am usually pretty conservative but I always wanted colored hair!!! So she mixed in my rare dark extensions with some lighter extensions which she hand dyed purple and blue (see photo). On top of that, she toned my own hair a beautiful 3N and always does Olaplex treatment on me. She is so easy to get along with, and that's important when your hair appointment is 2-6 hours.
