Update - I can tell the hair is of good quality - after several washings and torture sessions with the blow dryer, curling iron and flat iron - the hair still looks and feels soft, glossy and bouncy. Pricing - Good hair extensions are not cheap. Some salons charge in the 4-figure range as they take hours to put in. ( quality hair + hourly charge = $$$) So having said that, Claire's prices are reasonable when compared across the board.

I cannot in good conscience support this business any longer. No matter how talented someone is, customer service and basic decency are paramount. Gina showed me the height of disrespect by not delivering a good product (after months of waiting for it) and then turning around and getting rid of hair that did not belong to her. Picture attached. In October, I asked Gina to make a wig for me. I was so excited about this and provided all of the hair (3 bundles) for the wig construction plus two closures. I asked for it to be completed in time for Halloween. She told me she was working on it. It was not completed in time. For the next several weeks, there was no update and as the holidays approached, we touched base again about the wig. She told me she had done a strand test on the hair (back in October) and that it would work for the color that I asked for. I was not told of any issues until right before Christmas.... Did she really do a strand test then? Just before Christmas, she informed me that she was having difficulty with the hair. I told her we could just do something else but she wanted me to see the hair first. At this point, she had an opportunity to be honest with me and tell me that she could not accomplish what I wanted. Instead, she told me that she needed more time. Again, I was patient and trusted that she was being honest. When I finally saw the hair (pre-wig construction) she had bleached the hair but had not successfully added color back to it and the hair was damaged. She said it wasn't a big deal and that she could continue forward. Since she is the hair expert, I again trusted that she would deliver what was asked for or be honest and tell me that she couldn't. After Christmas, there were more delays and she was unwilling/unable to produce a picture of the wig. She said it would be done by New Years Eve. On Friday, December 30, she sent a pic of the wig. One pic from the back. This was not an attractive wig. The color was not good. I informed Gina that I did not like what I saw. She said she would take the loss. After further consideration, I decided that the best thing to do was to donate the wig to a charitable cause. I did not think it was a total loss. I am sure there were other solutions and I would have liked the opportunity to discuss them with Gina. When I reached out to Gina about picking up the hair and donating it (since she had already said she would take the loss), she informed me she "got rid of it" when I said I didn't like it. She GOT RID OF HAIR THAT WAS NOT HERS. She was unapologetic. She did not offer to compensate me in any way. I am confident that we could have worked something out as professional adults. Gina was unwilling to discuss the matter or offer a respectable solution. I still cannot believe that someone would be so cavalier and cold to a loyal client of 6 years. I have reason to believe that she gave the wig to someone else or possibly sold it. Regardless, she says she no longer has it. Completely unethical. The issue is not that this didn't go as planned. The issue is that Gina's lack of honest, up-front communication and basic respect for me have led me here. I have never dealt with anything so unprofessional and unethical from someone I trusted. For example, I would arrive for my 1:00 appointment and I wouldn't even get into the chair until 2:30! Thank god I was finally referred to Gina. I was actually referred Gina her by the owner of Nakeah Cosmetics while shopping on Melrose Boulevard. I am so glad I got referred to Gina, she is absolutely amazing. She is very kind, down to earth and she knows how to do hair! Girls always ask me who did my hair because it looks so neat and professional and I just referred them to Gina.

Also, check the bottom where it says "filtered" and you will find that there are over 39 reviews that are positive 5 star reviews, which Yelp filters for some reason. I've gotten my extensions done by Alicia many times. I had extensions in for over a year in which she would maintain. I NEVER experienced any negative experience with Alicia. If anything she would always go above and beyond for all her clients even doing house calls if they couldn't come to her salon. I haven't seen her new salon, but I am sure it's fantastic. I have recommended her to a lot of my friends and they were all thrilled with her services. Her business has flourished from a start up to a wonderful salon that offers many services, I am not sure how that would've been possible if she provides this so called "poor service." The sad part about the Internet is that it allows anyone to write a poor review without expressing their concerns to the business owner. I am sure that if they would've talked to Alicia she would've tried to accommodate them any way she can. I can't recommend her enough and please go in for a consult. I was a little surprised that they had a dog running around the salon - but hey, it's out of someone's house and I like dogs so it wasn't a big deal. When they called me back to make my appointment after the hair came in, I couldn't hear anything on the phone because the dog was barking like mad in the background. I asked them to call me back when it was quieter because I couldn't hear anything, and I was at work myself so I couldn't really be yelling into the phone to have them hear me. I never heard back from them and they never responded to my emails after that. You'd think people would be trying to get as much business as they can since there is a recession going on - especially for a service like extensions which is really just something people want, not something they need.
