Talking about being pampered (love it!), I really needed only a makeover by what turns out to be an amazing make up artist, Jenny, a very sweet Persian woman who I just now so adore. She did an amazing job with my make up that I want to come to her all the time! I've been to Make Up Forever, Blushington, Blow Angels, StephanieG, Make Up and Go! as well as some independent MUAs and she instantly has risen to the top! Great color matching and a flawless look. I was going out with friends for a big monthly dinner (13 of us!) and all I had were compliments all night! Both Ara and Sean got involved as well. Ara did an amazing job with my wig (I have to wear a wig due to an inherited hair problem), teasing my wig to give me a "big hair" look. Loved it! I stumbled upon this salon over a groupon when I was clueless to where I should go. I was so fortunate to try this place out because I met Sean and Ara (owners and hairstylists of SEANARA). I came in with long hair and have been wanting to cut 10 + inches off. But as most girls know, you can't just have anyone cut your hair (especially that much). I did a quick consultation with Sean and I was so pleased by the results. My bob looked so perfect to my facial frame (most stylists just cut hair without considering your features). Sean washed and cut my hair. Ara has the magic hands for blow drying. I kid you not my hair came out full and fabulous (considering it's thin and straight). It only takes Ara 10mins (or less) to create magic when he blow drys your hair! I've went to Sean for my bob hair cut, then balayage hair dye and most recently for my tape hair extensions. I missed having long hair and Sean really made my original "look" come back to life by applying hair extensions. He not only provided great quality hair but he made 18 inches blend so perfectly with my short hair (length is to my chin). Price is great, he's always providing well worth results for your money. This review is for Maro. Under no circumstance should anyone ever get their hair done by Maro! I went to Maro because of her Groupon for an ombre color. Although she sounds nice on the phone, and her 100% recommendation and positive reviews would indicate that she is capable of her doing her job, these reviews are clearly fake and it shocks me that she actually has a hair license. (Please refer to the pictures attached.) Without showing me the back of my head, she let me leave the salon looking like this. Once home, I saw my hair for the first time and discovered that she had ruined it. I've never been so upset after leaving the salon. Worst of all, I had to go to work embarrassed and ashamed with my hair looking like this. Luckily my coworker goes to a hair stylist that is actually capable of doing their job, unlike Maro. I was able to get an appointment that day*, but I ended up spending more to get my hair fixed than it would have been if I had just gone to a credible stylist / salon from the beginning. Please save your money and go to someone else. I recommend asking someone you personally know with nice hair / coloring who they go to. I guarantee you will not get the results you want by going to Maro. Fortunately, I demanded a refund and after a week of trying to have Maro meet me, I got all my money back. But, this wasn't until she had the nerve to yell at me and try to act like this was my fault. Maro is crazy, sketchy, and horrible at her job. Do not get your hair done by her. *Shout out to Harper Salon on Melrose for fixing my hair. I recommend you go there instead. read more

I went in for a roots touch-up, and came out looking like Kim Kardashian--as far as the hair is concerned. PSA: There is a North and a South Robertson. Most Angelenos know this, and still get repeatedly screwed because we rely on our "smart" phones. South entails everything South of Wilshire. I know that, but I didn't pay attention to the address listed here. I simply hit the "directions" on the yelp page, and long story short, I end up at 265 N. Robertson. I park, and pay the meter four bucks only to find out I'm not at the right spot. The address is 265 SOUTH Robertson--South of Wilshire, off a smaller street (but with a light) called Gregory Way. The place itself is in the back of a courtyard. Parking in the neighborhood is easy. On Gregory you don't have to use a meter. As a result of the googleheaded misdirection, I arrived ten minutes late. Sean was very understanding. I was neither the first nor the last to have this problem. I loved the atmosphere of the studio, bright and airy. Lovely mirrors and chairs. I immediately calmed down. I swear, I just went in for roots. But then, sitting in the chair, liking Sean, curious about his methods, I asked about possibly doing highlights, and before you know it I'm getting balayaged big time. There was no coercion from him. It was all me. I wanted it. He did a fantastic job. And I'm sold on the balayage technique; I think it's more natural than highlights, and quicker. He also gave me a nice haircut! I went in with a deal for highlights and a hair cut. (-) Smoking. Gross. As other reviewers have commented, all of the employees in this salon are chain smokers, and cannot even get through a dye job or haircut without needing a smoke. To then come back drenched in perfume does not help. (-) I had a woman (I believe her name was Parisi) who had no intent of actually asking or doing what I wanted. She just jumped into my highlights without bothering to inquire how I wanted them to look. I have never had highlights before, so I did not realize this was a problem till they showed me bleach-white highlights, which they tried to convince me "looked natural" (I'm a brunette). They were able to tone it down a bit, but if she had just asked me in the first place how I wanted my hair to look, we could have avoided the panic attack and fluster to fix. Mty highlights also came out with about 1/4 inch roots showing -- I'm not sure if that's normal for highlights, so I am not docking points for that. (-) Parisi also completely ignored my instructions with respect to the hair cut. I said several times "no layers in the back, short layers in the front and NO layers in the back." Guess who's got two thumbs and layers in the back? THIS YELPER. (+) The salon is cute/attractive, nice decor. I am giving this salon 2 stars instead of 1 because, admittedly, I did not complain while I was in the salon and did not give them the opportunity to fix the issues. Although I dont' see how they can "fix' these issues, but maybe at least apologize and offer some freebies. I did not give them that opportunity, so I feel I owe them an extra star. read more

I purchased a Groupon deal a month ago for a single process, moisture mask, and hair cut. Overall I had a very good experience. The stylist (I feel awful, I can't remember his name!) listened to my request for hair color, and pretty much everything. No complaints! The place can be a little tricky to find. It's within a shopping center that goes inward form the street instead of being spread out, if that makes sense. There's street parking, which is no problem on Sunday. Otherwise it's 2-hour parking, and I believe permit only for residential (I explore all of my options). read more

Wowww!!! Amazing results. This review is for Maro. First off she is the sweetest lady ever!!! I couldn't be more happy with my hair . I got the Brazilian blowout with a really cute short bob cut. She listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted. My hair was pretty frizzy due to damage with slight waves and extremely dry and now my hair is soooo soft and it's pretty straight . I wanted to like this place. I really did. First I was greeted by 5 people staring at me smoking cigs outside and then sean followed me in hinting that he worked there. after greeting bla bla i sat down. i just wanted root touch ups for my blonde hair. He would smoke in between doing my hair so i thought it was gross he would touch my hair right after. anyway, my roots look terrible. i can touch up myself but i prefer the salon experience...i even had the "deep conditioning" mask done. which didn't do anything. my roots are not blonde or blended at all, it looks like they haven't been touched in months. I don't understand. I believe Sean is probably a great stylit and I saw Ara do someones hair amazingly, but i'm sad i spent $70 on my roots not getting fixed at all and my hair not getting the deep conditioning it needed. I got there and was waiting 15 minutes while my stylist was outside talking to one of his girl-friends before I had to say something to the owner. Then he proceeded to have a chip on his shoulder the entire time and just did NOT CARE AT ALL about my hair or my haircut at all. He just couldn't care less and made me feel very unsafe in the chair, as I was at the mercy of someone with scissors who didn't give a f*ck about me or my hair. It's very rare that I trust a stylist to do what they want with my hair, but Sean has made my hair look perfect each and every time. My nickname for him is Edward Scissor hands because of his unique way he cuts hair which is entertaining to the eye. Also the environment was nice, treated like a lady and had my options of coffee, wine, or tea. Overall, Sean was great at having good hair cutting skills and giving stories of working with celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Black, and a few others. Overall left not wanting to leave. I went because they were having a deal on Groupon but ended up paying everything and more that I saved to fix my hair. I asked to darken my hair and do balayage with no blonde and mostly DARK BRUNETTE. What I ended up with was a light, brownish, blondeish, brassy color. I found this place while looking for someone to do my hair for my wedding and my prayers were answered when I found Ara. He did such an amazing job on me and all of my 10 bridesmaids. He made me look so amazing my husband said I look like a gorgeous angel on our wedding day! That's not even the best part, we did two styles for my wedding. The first was half up with big curls for the ceremony and for the reception my hair all up, that's when it got even more intriguing. Sean asked me a simple question Can I cut your veil and not thinking things through I said sure why not. As Ara was putting up my hair, Sean turned my veil into a beautiful flower with scissors, a needle and thread (What? Who does that in less than 5 minutes???) My hair is naturally curly but when he is done it looks naturally straight like a bouncy hair commercial and I have been to many salons but what he does is beyond words. Bahar was super awesome when I met her and she quickly threaded my brows which I had never had done before. It was quick and mostly painless.
