Color by Boots, trim and style by Coco.
    Chelsey S.

Coco and Boots are such a gift to me and anyone else who gets the pleasure of sitting in their chair. I have been getting my hair done by them since 2021, and have always been more than happy with my color by Boots, and my haircuts and extensions (on and off) by Coco. They always deliver, whether that is getting creative when you want to try something new, or simply there for a touch up. I never leave their chair without feeling 100% better than when I came in. They will not disappoint you.

Leslie was amazing! Super patient, friendly, and very knowledgeable & informative about hair--- and very talented!!! She gave my 14 year old a great cut and took the time to teach her how to style it (with the products and tools we already have and from her perspective/angle. She also helped us understand her hair type and best types of shampoo and BP's for washing hair (who knew I have washed hair wrong my whole life! Doh!). This was my teenage daughter's first experience with a real salon and her first time experimenting with a hairstyle (she always had straight long hair or a shoulder length bob). I feel so fortunate that Leslie took our call that day because she not only gave an amazing haircut, she gave my girl an awesome experience! She showed my daughter first hand all the reasons I cherish a great hair salon and stylist. I have had 3 hair stylists in L.A. since moving here in 1999 and it took a lot of bad cuts and bad experiences to find each of them! I gave up searching (for myself) after I lost my last one 4-5 years ago, but I will definitely go to Leslie for mine and the rest of my fam will too! My teenager already refers to her as "her hair stylist"!

So I was sitting in my chair at this salon - getting my hair done. I was looking at their Yelp page and saw Karen's review below (LOL of course her name is Karen)... I completely disagree w her. Bitter people tend to exaggerate distress. I just got my hair done with Emma and not only is she fun and sweet to talk to, but that girl did WORK on my hair and I've got nothing but compliments!!! She's a gem, and her work is on point. To anyone reading this: please let my hair speak for itself and don't listen to a woman who has too much time on her hands to write an autobiography. Take it from me, Emma is your girl and she is THE girl. Thank you so much love. See you in a few months!

I recently had my hair cut with Emma and was extremely disappointed. She came to my home (salon not open) and asked, "What are we doing? Just a trim? " And I said, "Yes, I'm growing it out." And she replied, "Same thing as last time?" And I said, "Yes." (I'd gotten my hair cut with her 2 times before and she did a great job, which is what makes this worse -- the inconsistency.) At the end of the cut I went to my bedroom to check it out and noticed it felt short, but wanted to give it a minute. I paid her and proceeded to re-check it in the mirror. I was horrified to see how very short she'd cut the pieces around my face. I had been growing my hair out over quarantine and it was almost (finally!) all one length and getting past my shoulders and down my back. I'd been growing out the layers and the pieces in the front and I was finally excited about how long it had been getting. And all of a sudden I had super short pieces around my face and uneven layers throughout. The right side is also thinner and shorter than the left. She left me with a Farrah Faucet feathered look (particularly on the right!) with huge holes on both sides. The layers also did a "mushroomy" type of thing after I styled it with my curling iron because they were cut so poorly (as in -- it looked like there was a mushroom on top of my head). I couldn't even get my curling iron around the front pieces. (cue pangs of grief) I decided to sleep on it, rewash and style it the next day to make sure it wasn't just the way she blow dried it. But after I washed and dried it, it was clear that the cut was a mess. And so was I. I texted her to let her know I was disappointed (with pics). I asked why she would cut my NATURALLY VERY CURLY hair (see pic) that short, especially around the face. She replied, "I'm so sorry you're unhappy! Give it another week or so to settle in. I didn't take too much off the front, and just 1/2 inch off all around." I shouldn't have to wait "a week or so" to feel comfortable with a trim. Also, she completely denied the fact that she cut it too short (and completely uneven) and instead made it all about my feelings. (This is called gaslighting.) I'm writing this review a full 5 wks after the cut and it still hasn't "settled in." I still feel angry and upset every time I look in the mirror. I couldn't even sleep the first night. My focus is STILL on my hair every day. I feel embarrassed to leave my apartment with my hair down. I'm an actor and a life coach and am on video all the time -- And I was about to get new headshots and go "shopping" for a new agent and now I have to wait a minimum of THREE TO SIX MONTHS to do that. I am heartbroken. Sadly, there's been *zero* accountability for the bad cut. The blame was shifted to me for not liking it. She said she could come back and "make adjustments, " but clearly I didn't want her anywhere near my hair again. I spoke to the owner who listened to my concerns and said she'd talk to Emma about it. I thought perhaps, since I explained how awful the cut was and how it was affecting my life, I'd get a call back to try and make it right in some way. I asked if she'd seen the photos I sent Emma. She said she saw 1. I sent 6. I haven't heard anything and this is literally the worst haircut I've ever gotten. Yes, I got a refund, but now I'm stuck with this awful cut and the emotional ramifications for 3-6 months minimum. I expect more from a salon of this caliber. I waited to write this review to give the salon a chance to make it right, but as of this writing, it still doesn't feel right. I obviously won't be going back to someone who is not consistent with her cuts and does not take responsibility when she clearly gets it wrong. *This review gets 2 stars bc Colleen did a great job with my color last summer.

I came in for a color correction from copper to blonde. During my appointment, Boots and Coco made sure to explain the whole process to me and they made sure I was comfortable the whole way and worked so diligently. I was so impressed with the final result! I always get so nervous at salons but these two managed to make me feel so safe and welcomed. I totally recommend them to anyone wanting any type of service from color correction to a haircut , they will not disappoint!

Leslie is my GIRL! Hair wizard. She brought my curls back to life, breathed a new level of volume into it, plus the COLOR?! *chefs kiss*. Hair bae got me lookin like gods favorite when the sunlight hits them locks bless

CocoAlexander was such a pleasure to talk to and so helpful in helping me decide what cut would suit me best before styling it perfectly. I could not be more happy with the cut I got!!

Emma knew exactly what I wanted without my having to go into a ton of detail! She was so sweet, professional and gave me the perfect new hair color (a darker shade of brown), which looks so much better, since my spring highlights were growing out. I loved the products she used, and she mentioned they were available to purchase on their website if I was interested. Price was reasonable and I was thrilled that there was availability within a few days of my call! Can't wait to come back soon!

Yuji was my hairdresser, and he was so kind, precise, and skilled with my haircut. When I first walked in, I thought, "ah this really is a no frills hair salon," and I'll admit I was a little nervous since it was my first time and I didn't know what to expect. As soon as I sat down, my nerves went away. Yuji was so gentle and attentive, and I felt really well taken care of. My appointment lasted about an hour and included a wash and cut. Parking is validated for up to two hours, which is definitely enough time. I was so happy with my results. I truly don't know how Yuji creates such magic with his hands! I'll be coming here from now on for my haircuts. Please show Yuji and Hair Craft your support by leaving a generous tip. An establishment like this that truly gives you high quality results for such a generous price deserves to be met with gratitude and good tips. Too many salons are charging an arm and a leg for a basic trim these days, and Hair Craft is not one of them. There were only 1-2 stylists working during my visit, so please be patient and make sure to book at least three weeks in advance. When I booked, they were already scheduled out for three weeks, and I overheard them telling other callers the same thing. Thankfully, it was absolutely worth the wait. I can't wait to come back and will definitely be booking with Yuji again. Thank you Hair Craft for such a wonderful experience!!!

You're escorted to the lockers to put your belongings away, given a cozy robe, and immediately made to feel relaxed and taken care of. The service here is honestly unparalleled--even compared to many places I've visited in Japan. The scalp cleansing feels incredible, and the head massage is so amazing that it deserves to be its own standalone service. While you're getting your hair done, they also offer a variety of complimentary drinks and snacks, making the entire experience feel thoughtful and elevated. As for Olivia--she was phenomenal. I came in with no specific hairstyle in mind. I simply pointed out the areas I was concerned about, and she expertly created a look that suited me while explaining what she was doing every step of the way. She gave me practical styling tips and genuinely focused on the long-term health of my hair. What stood out the most was that she never tried to upsell me on products or unnecessary services. Instead, she genuinely cared about making sure my hair was healthy and that I left happy with the results. That level of honesty is hard to find these days. If you're looking for a salon that values quality, craftsmanship, and customer care over making a quick sale, this is the place. The pricing is incredibly fair for the level of service and attention you receive. I can't recommend Olivia enough. I'll definitely be coming back!

However, when it came time to be seen, I was told it had been cancelled. It took multiple receptionists to realize that one of them had accidentally canceled it. The problem is that I was never notified. I didn't receive a cancellation email or text despite having notifications enabled, and no one could explain why I wasn't contacted. If I had been notified, I wouldn't have wasted over two hours driving. What was most disappointing was how the situation was handled. There was no tangible effort to make things right--no attempt to fit me in, prioritize me for another appointment, or offer any accommodation after I had cleared my schedule to see them and spent so much time traveling and waiting. I understand that mistakes happen, but unfortunately, I left feeling like my time wasn't valued, and I can't recommend a salon that handles scheduling errors this way. Additional note: My appointment was originally in August, but I rescheduled for July. I received a cancellation email for the August booking, but never the July one because I didn't cancel it. Edit: They claimed to have offered to schedule me with the soonest available appointment, but what's to guarantee that my appointment isn't mistakenly cancelled again? What's your new procedure to ensure my time isn't wasted? Will I receive an email notification this time? I can also schedule at home for your "soonest available appointment," so ultimately I was still offered poor customer service.

It was my very first time with The Hideout Salon and not only was he understanding of any scheduling rearrangements we had to make, he also made sure to make it a point that we would be setting enough time aside for what we would anticipate needing so that when the time came, there would be zero rush along with top quality service which makes a huge difference in customer experience compared to factory booking which sacrifices quality, time, and attentiveness for squeezing in numbers, and as clients we all greatly appreciate this! While I was waiting Allie was very sweet and settled me in/welcomed me and offered me something to drink. The decor of the place felt very cozy and cute. If youre a dog lover you'll also be very happy to probably see a friendly cute Lil doggo named Carl (Karl?) comfortably shimmying his way around the shop (and if youre scared of dogs dont worry, he really just does his own thing Lol). Hes So darn cute and floofy. I came in for both a color and a consultation for a potential cut. Because I sometimes tend to notice/look at details that others may want to gloss over or perceive as me overanalyzing, it felt really difficult for me to explain to others how my recent haircut from another place just a month or two ago had specific lengths and cuts in specific areas going around my whole hair that had left my previous haircut feeling kind of "off" in certain ways and that I felt was giving my hair the very slight illusion of looking shorter than it actually really was and a little "choppy" in some areas, which then had an effect on how it framed my face/widened it instead of helping elongate it. But when I explained it to Daniel, he totally got it and even held up the individual sections that he agreed were causing those effects, why it was creating the effect that it was and how we would resolve it. I was so happy that he not only truly acknowledges and makes it important to understand where his clients are coming from (whether its concerns or goals etc) but that he also has such skill and knowledge to be able to fully do so and hit the nails right on the head. The color was also beautiful as well and because I wanted something that was healthier than permanent that would also give my hair a healthier appearance (ie shine, softness, gloss etc) he recommended the demi and also mentioned that it would make it easier down the road for me to go lighter if I ever wanted to. The color blended and matched so well with the rest of my hair and everything from the cut to the color made me feel like all of my goals were achieved. Everything Daniel did with my hair left me feeling so *Bonita*, and he was just such a joy to work with and an awesome person all around. Thank you Daniel for this lovely experience :) -------------------------------- Parking: Since the salon is in the heart of Downtown, its best to try and arrive a bit earlier than your appointment time and to be prepared for alot of one way streets and quickly turning into the available open public parking lots closeby before passing the salon (to avoid having to go further down in a circle to get back to the parking again). I believe there are 2 or 3 lots before you pull up to the salon that have big signs that say public parking. If youre driving towards the direction of the salon, out of the 3 the first one youll pass is just self-service/pay which was the one I parked in, and the other two have attendants as you pull up to the salon. Im not sure if both of those allow open access to all, so i will find out the next time I go again :) The front of the salon itself can be very easy to miss so just make sure to park before you even pass it on your GPS and youll see a small little sign over a door that says the Hideout salon when you walk up. There will be a door code for you to enter so just ask the salon for the door code in advance so that youre all set to go when you get there as well :)
