Grab a snack its a long one
So let me start out by saying, I LOVE the furniture I purchased. Ive purchased my first living room set from Ashleys (southern california) 6 years ago and everything is still in fairly decent condition.
So personally, me and my husband do not have the best credit, we were looking for a lease to own option and we knew our options were limited, after about 4 other stores and several hours later we decided to try Ashleys before we drive home (just over an hour).
We walked in, and noticed an employee talking with an elderly woman, no problem we'll wait our turn, well she ended up walking away and he helped us. We explained out financial situation and he seemed hopeful, so we tell him what we want and start looking, and he started suggesting things we werent even talking about. Dont get me wrong, I understand that salesman mentality, cross sell everything, but thats not what we needed. It was like he kept assuming our living arrangements, we are moving into a larger house and needed to fill space rather he was showing us smaller space items, but again no big deal we just corrected along the way.
BTW, yes with everyone wearing masks that was nice but it was very hard to understand everything everybody was saying, i felt myself getting confused ALOT.
Anyways, we know productions were stopped due to covid so we asked right away how does the stock and delivery ETAs look, he did explain some items are on back order, so it can take 3-5 weeks BUT he's done alot of orders recently and products do show ETAs of just a week or 2, so that made us very optimistic.
We applied and ended up going to the secondary finance option, and another gentleman came up and started to explain the option but spoke so fast, couldn't hear him due to the mask and he walked away.
So we ended up picking out a living room set, extra rug, recliner, and a couple of bar stools, super excited and then we realized hey we're a little over budget with delivery and everything so we took off the barstools, no biggie we'll get them later. So now its time to do the paperwork, so we start that and our sales rep is at the computer and typing away and he needs the store manager (im assuming he was wearing a suit) and they start talking and amongst themselves stated they won't deliver to us, and after a few min the manager said, "this is gonna take too long im going to help "another sales rep" ill be right back" he was gone about 10 min came back and finished us up in like 5 min. We thought that was so rude since, clearly we weren't longer then the other transaction but dang, we heard you, what a way to make us feel bad. Anyways they start telling us the details, but didn't say anything about the delivery until we brought it up and hes like oh yea we don't deliver youll have to pick it up, why couldn't they tell us that when he first realized it, also we told our rep in the beginning where we live and he said no problem. So we have to pay delivery ourselves, instead of it being tacked on the bill and we would've made payments towards it. So we start doing our paperwork and we realized, after the delivery was taken off we could've afford the barstools, but it was too late for that now, it was just very frustrating, they didn't even try to include us in any of the discussions or decisions. And then after all the paperwork we are informed we have to do a down payment, nobody told us about that, oh and the furniture won't be ready for 5 weeks and our sales rep said, "well you know i told you itll be about 5 weeks", like yea you said that but you also said alot of things to make it not seem like that. Honestly, again I'm very happy with the pieces we picked, but the staff was not friendly at all, nobody says excuse me when trying to squeeze by, employees huddle and talk about their sales instead of saying hello, they don't disclose everything, they are too focused on making that sale then being personable. I was so over being there I just wanted to go home, ill most likely do business with ashleys again but I will not be going to that one ever again. read more
