You'll find a decent Produce section, a Butcher/Deli Counter, Frozen Foods, Dry Goods, Goya Products, and a small Fresh Bread section. Good prices on almost everything in here and the employees are pretty cool.   This is exactly what this part of town needs so I'm hoping it's all going to work out for this place. It's as much a convenience store as it is a Farmer's Market. There are alot of locals who travel on foot and don't want to walk all the way to the larger Grocery Stores.   As I said it's new so I don't want to get too picky but some of this produce is a little past it's freshness point of usage. I do attribute that to the fact that not enough people know about this Market yet. But we'll see, I'll definitely be returning here from time to time, especially for the Fresh Cuban Bread and Avocados.

Every year we look forward to the local farmer's markets opening in the spring and the one in Morristown is usually great. I'm always a big proponent of supporting your locals so I try to put my money where my mouth is and buy what I can here (and the other local farmers' markets). It's a little more expensive than what you pay in the supermarkets, but for a lot of the produce you can taste the difference. Jersey corn and Jersey tomatoes are the best in the country (yeah, I said that Iowa, Nebraska, California and Florida). The pickle guy makes some of the best I've ever tried...huge fan of the hot and spicy ones. The cheese stand is pretty good, but a lot of it is made from goat or sheep milk-not my favorite, but pretty damn good. Also a huge fan of the bread stand, the fresh honey, and the fish monger. Just sitting here writing this makes me long for warmer weather and fresh produce! This market is very dog friendly (if you're interested in bringing your pup), but one negative is the parking and getting in and out...it can get a little tight. Really looking for the first weekend they're open in June.

The first Sunday of the month there is extra good stuff, usually a musician plus additional farmers. This market is organized by the Morristown Partnership. I was pleased to learn that the Partnership requires all vendors to sell only products made in New Jersey. Try the fresh farm eggs from Michisk's Farm of Flemington! I love the braided sesame twist from Baker's Bounty of Linden. The fresh flounder from the fish people of Long Beach Island is a little expensive at about $18/lb but very good. Occasionally I'll get olives from Pickle-Licious to make putanesca sauce with tomatoes from Michisk's. Alstede's market stand has the largest variety of produce, including herbs, peppers, onions, apples, peaches, corn, melon and so on. Alstede might be the only stand that accepts credit cards. My wife likes to get sunflowers from the flower stand. One large produce stand is completely organic. Once in a while I'll get a kielbasy from the Polish food people. The cheese people have interesting stuff but it's annoyingly spendy at about $25/lb. This market has relatively few prepared foods other than pastries and breads; there's no deli food and no coffee place, just huge piles of fresh, local produce ready to be turned into great meals. I like to go early, they open promptly at 8:30.

There was no signage about it so when we arrived we went inside the market to ask. They gave us a pair of scissors to use and let us know that sunflowers were $1 more per stem. (This was a great deal! I've been to other farms that charge more.) We walked through as cut as many flowers that we could fit. The farm wasn't too busy so it was enjoyable. After flower picking we got ice cream from their ice cream window (this was the pricey side) and sat at a picnic table watching the goats. Tranquillity Farms was a short ride up 80 West. They have plenty of parking, fresh produce and other goods in the market, and a jungle gym for the kids. I couldn't find a bathroom - only saw portajohns. They've started their apple picking season so I plan to return soon!

The Denville market is a bit smaller than the Morristown one, but they still have great vendors a number of which are not over at Morristown. They have several food trucks with lots of different choices. They have a nice farmer's market that is nicely decorated and has plenty of items for sale. They have a great selection of pies too. Also, there is an ice cream stand next to the market opened daily, all ice cream is homemade and fresh! Their hot apple cider and cinnamon donut was a great treat! Since finding Ort Farms is not too far from us, we'll be back next year once the crops are back in season.

I found out about Ort Farms from a billboard I saw driving down 17. I wanted to find a farm that…read morehad a pumpkin patch but still had apple picking, and Ort Farms had both - so it was perfect! It was about an hour drive from me, so it wasn't too bad. We came on the last Sunday of September, so the pumpkin patch and hayrides were already open (I believe they open mid-September) but they still had some late varieties of apples. They had some veggies available for picking too - tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants. You just need to purchase a bag and you can use it for both. Admission was about $15 per adult, which you have to purchase online. Kids 3 and under are free. We did the 9:30 time slot but didn't get there until 10, which didn't seem to be an issue. It's definitely best to go early so you can avoid as much of the crowd as possible. We spent almost three hours there and it was crowded by the time we left. The good thing about going in September is that most people don't want to go until October, so you get to avoid that mess. But the bad thing is that it's still probably really hot and if you're picking fruits/veggies in hot weather, it's not the most fun. By the time we were done picking apples and veggies, we were all hot and tired by the time we got to the pumpkin patch. So I'd suggest doing all of your photo ops at the pumpkin patch first and then doing all the manual labor. They have a few food trucks in one area and the apple cider slush was nice and refreshing after picking fruit. They also have a farm store with your usual suspects - pies, apple cider donuts, pre-made salads/sandwiches, etc., but we didn't buy anything. I think I found our new go-to farm. It's nice that you can kill two birds with one stone. I saw they have U-cut Christmas trees in December so I'm interested to see if they're doing any Christmas events - I wouldn't mind making the drive back.

Open Thursday afternoons 1-6, which is pretty convenient because by then we've run out of local peaches and other goodies from the previous weekend markets! Season is June - October. Parking is easy on the streets nearby too. I get the sense that Madison struggles to accommodate this market because every year it's in a different place. One year it was on Waverly, then it was banished for a year to the grounds of the old Bayley-Ellard school, and now it's back in town on one very small block of Green Village Road, right outside the Museum of Tradecraft.
