Great variety of apples for pick your own--you will enjoy the spacious grounds and idyllic hills of this serene property. A small bag is $15. Does not fit many apples, so be warned. Entrance to pick is free. Their store has apples to purchase at a good price, so consider that, after you're done with your tiny bag of pick your own. The store also has a big array of jams, produce, and baked goodies. They run out by mid day! So if you want some baked items--don't dilly dally--purchase before you go apple picking. Prices are high, but you're supporting local family business and getting delicious items that are seasonal and can justify the expense. The freshly made apple cider doughnuts [6 for $17] were delectable--especially when eaten warm! They lasted a week, and were delicious even after days on the counter. Speaks of quality. Their pies were also outstanding. The ice cream that they make in house exceeded expectations. Try the seasonal flavors like smores. A worthwhile sweet indulgence. The only downside is you have to wait at least 30 minutes in line to place your order. There is always a line. Everyone wants coffee and ice cream. The wait under the blazing sun was grueling. Maybe split up if you're with a group--so that some can peruse the farm store while others wait in line.

We stopped at Windy Brow Farms during a trip after it was recommended to us. My daughter chose strawberry ice cream in a cone and left about a quarter for me to finish. I'm usually not a strawberry ice cream fan because it often tastes artificial to me. This one tasted so natural and had just the right sweetness. I finished it and immediately wished there was more! I also tried samples of burnt pistachio, honey lavender, and dark chocolate. Honestly, I enjoyed every single one. I picked dark chocolate because it's my favorite and brought home a pint of honey lavender. Since the honey lavender and burnt pistachio were seasonal, I wanted to grab some before they were gone. I would have happily bought a burnt pistachio pint too, but none were available. I also wanted to try the fresh sourdough from their farm store after hearing great things from parents at my daughter's school, but that had sold out too. A little disappointing, only because I was looking forward to bringing it home! Next visit, I'm hoping for sourdough, a pint of burnt pistachio, and a strawberry ice cream of my own. Definitely worth the drive.
