We stayed at this motel in January 2025 and had a very positive experience. My husband enjoyed talking to the proprietor when we checked in. Our room was very clean and well appointed. We liked the wood flooring rather than carpeting because we feel the hard floors are cleaner. Night temperatures were predicted to be below freezing and I appreciated the bed coverings which had a little thickness and looked warm and inviting but they weren't heavy at all. This motel is off the freeway so there are no traffic noise issues. The price was very reasonable for the accommodation. We left early and didn't stay for the breakfast so I can't comment on that. We will certainly stay here again when we are passing through Ashland. read more

I rarely leave reviews on Yelp, but this one seems warranted. I chose this place because I liked the price, $90 after taxes for a short night's stay driving between Seattle and San Francisco. My expectations were pretty low, but not this low. The room is literally 4 walls and a bed. They slapped a metal shelving unit in the corner with a couple of hangers for a closet, replete with a card table and a couple of plastic chairs, because, you know... why not? The bathroom smells like BO coming from no place in particular. The AC next to the bed blares so loud I had to crank the volume on the tiny TV just to hear it. My advice? Pay the extra $20-40 for a little more piece of mind. read more

Spent 8 days travelling between Canada and San Diego and this is the only motel I am taking the time to review. Out of all our stays, the Ashland Motel gets an easy 5 stars for: Price, room look and feel, cleanliness, bed comfort, convenience from car to room, friendly staff. The room was pretty much like I expected, funky retro, recently remodeled, Friendly Staff. The pool was small but nice. The have a really nice grass area with picnic tables outside. We had mtnbikes, the room had plenty of space to park out bikes in the room. I would love it if they reinstalled the Neon light and paint the Motel sign bright colors to make the Motel sign stand out. Ashland Motel has so much potential, great location, right next to a good breakfast resturant, we highly recommend Omar's for dinner, they have a fantastic vintage neon sign. If you value sleep or physical and mental well being, then don't stay here. We stayed here and found the following to be true: The beds are either rock hard or near-broken. The door frame molding was coming off the wall. The furnishings are budget utilitarian from IKEA The doors are either blocked or coming off the hinges. The AC/heater only works on "High" and is incredibly loud. The room had little to no ventilation. The TV was really really cheap with a terrible picture. Neither my wife or I got any sleep. Our son slept fine, but he's 10 and made of rubberised energy. After a night here though, the adults are broken, and not for fun reasons either. We left as soon as we could. It's only 95% horrible though. The staff was super nice. read more

Found this place late at night when everything else was booked up. Was a pleasant surprise. The rooms have recently been remodeled with néw flooring, tiled bathrooms and two very comfortable beds. The maid stole a gift bag from my room. When I confronted the owner, they put the blame on me. I knew it was the maid because I left to grab coffee right next door. I returned 5 minutes later and my room was cleaned and the bag I just left was gone. It was an important and expensive gift so I confronted the maid as well and she just grinned and said it wasn't her. The maid was a young wannabe hippie girl too high on weed to even articulate her sentences. She had clear problems. The owner then said tough luck. That's when I called the police and demanded a refund for the night I was going to stay. Obviously, I didn't feel comfortable or safe there anymore. The police came and forced the owner to return my money. I never did get the gift back because the girl ran off and the police said it was going to be hard to prove. So yeah, don't stay at this place unless you want your stuff stolen. read more

This is our first and only choice of a stay in Ashland. Close to Omar's for dinner and next to a great breakfast place. Clean and in the summer the pool is great. They've put in quite a few upgrades and the staff are very friendly. This is a family-owned business and it shows. read more

Clean. Cheap. Gets the job done. The only real knock is that the walls/ceiling is PAPER THIN. We were awoken after a lengthy drive the night before to someone in the room above us simply walking around. Damn it was loud. Sounded like the ceiling was going to creak its self to death and come down. An effective alarm clock indeed. Get a room on the 2nd floor if possible. The manager called us while we were inbound to let us know the office was going to be closed when we arrived (we told him we were going to be a late check in on the reservation) and let us know where to find the key. He was very nice and curious. That's a big plus. After weighing the options and deciding that for a spot to just lay our head, $88 for a nice little dorm esk room and a "natural alarm clock" was worth it. read more

It was cheap, first and foremost. It cost us $52 per night, compared to $80+ elsewhere. It was a little run down and didn't look like much from the outside, but the room was clean, the bed was in good shape, it was centrally located and right next to the best breakfast place in town, Morning Glory. Pretty hard to beat. It was nice to save some money and spend it on other things. We were hardly ever in the room anyway. read more

I loved this motel! We had a king room which was obviously recently renovated. The bed was super comfy and had decent linens (Target Home Collection). The room was very clean--sterile, even. The bathroom was great and the shower was huge and beautiful. The front desk lady was incredibly kind when we checked in/out. For $100/night, I thought we got a great deal. read more

We stayed just one night passing through. We had one of the small single rooms. It was clean and modern. The bathroom was great, a very large tile shower that was better than our suite room in Las Vegas. The bed was small at a full, so if you have 2 bigger people you might have to cuddle pretty close. But the linens were awesome, they smelled like fresh laundry and the bed was comfy and not too hard. My only complaint would be the hardwood floors were cold on the bare feet, but it's way better than the super 8 with the cigarette burns in the carpet. The room smelled fresh and was uncluttered. One of the nicest places we have stayed in while and at $60 we couldn't complain. read more

The Plus Side - Very nice shower, decent bed, nice lady at check-in. The Minuses... Very sterile. Not talking about clean floors but bare walls. Absolutely baren. No coffee maker. An AC unit that doesn't have a thermostat... it's either on or off. Wi-Fi was very weak. No furniture except for 2 plastic chairs, plastic table, wooden picnic bench and a metal rack. Fridge and microwave had to be on the floor. Not too sanitary. Though this was very overpriced for what you get. read more

I had a terrible experience with the manager/owner of this hotel, and am absolutely livid. On the night we arrived, the toilet in the room next to us (where the other half of our party was staying) got backed up, and started bubbling up out of their shower. When they alerted the girl on duty at the front desk that there was an issue, she immediately came to investigate, and called a plumber. (This was apparently the second time this had happened this month.) Unfortunately, a plumber wasn't available until the following morning, so she offered them access to another hotel room, with the option of either moving over there for the night, or simply going over to utilize the bathroom. Right about that moment in time, the toilet and shower stopped functioning correctly in our bathroom, so we opted to simply have access to the other room. (Since six of us weren't going to fit in this ONE other room.) Now, I should mention that I was traveling with my parents, and my mother is physically disabled, so any sort of movement is difficult, and asking her to walk across a parking lot to another room in the middle of the night was a HUGE deal. But, with the hotel being full, it was our only option. To attempt to make a long story short, the plumber came the next morning, and had fixed the pipping by that afternoon. The hotel employees were extremely apologetic, and when we asked that our bathrooms be sterilized, they spent an additional amount of time and effort cleaning our rooms. When my sister went to talk to the management (I believe she is the daughter of the hotel owner), we were promised that we would be financially compensated for the evening - meaning, we wouldn't be charged for that night. Now, when check-out time came, the owner acted as if she had never promised us any sort of compensation, and if we had inconvenienced HER in some way. My father had to wheedle a "half-off" deal for that first night we were so thoroughly inconvenienced. This place may be cute, and conveniently located, but my father's a small business owner, and I'm a medical student. No matter HOW I look at this situation, there's no justifying the way my family was treated, and the distress we were subjected to. Yes, I understand that this is her income, but I was breathing in feces for ~12 hours, with no other options. I will never be staying here again. read more

No Rugs No Bugs. I like this place! it's small, clean and has a little pool. We always stop in Ashland on our way to Portland and this motel is a great, no frills clean place to rest your head. The room we were in had wood floors, I'm hoping this is a trend because I can't stand hotel carpets. The bathroom shower was all stone and everything was pretty new. The only upgrade I have for this place is the air conditioner, it was very loud and the settings were not readable. Since Oregon isn't known for its heat waves, (except when we usually travel in July) this shouldn't be an issue for most people. read more

other places were booked, so we just gave "the M"/Ashland motel a shot. the couple that runs it is very nice. it definitely looks motel-ish from the outside. we had a standard double, which was more like a large box with a full size (?) bed and shelf. it was a little claustrophobic, seemed clean (but i saw a couple hairs on the sham pillows), looked updated and modern (loved the shower tiles!), and was $77/night. downtown is about a mile away. crater lake (the reason we were in oregon) is a couple hours. decent place to stay at if you don't want to spend a lot. read more

We heeded Glenn G.'s counsel and took the slightly more expensive room upstairs to avoid neighbor noises. Upon checking in, I realized why it was so noisy - there is no carpeting, but rather bamboo flooring. If you take an upper room, be nice to your downstairs neighbors and take your shoes off. The Ashland Motel is a low cost motor hotel that offers a clean bed to crash on for the night - nothing more or less. We dubbed it, "Hotel IKEA," due to it's cheap, but clean and tidy furnishings. Actually, the bathroom is done nicely with slate tile floors and a tiled, walk-in shower with glass door. We paid $145 during high tourist season, which is high for this type of motel, but hey - It's August in Ashland. read more

We were looking for something cheap and no frills for our 1 night stay, but were pleasantly surprised! This place is adorable! The room was small, but clean, tastefully decorated, and quiet. Hitting the bed after a long day driving, this is is a comfy little place; heater works great, hardwood floors, nice comforter. However, what keeps this from 5 stars is that the fitted sheet did not fit the king size mattress. The corners only fit the pillow top portion of the mattress, and kept popping off. Not a big deal, but not what you want to be fooling with when you've been on the road for most the day. King sheets on a king matress, not full or queen. Other than that little complaint, helluva bargain for your money! read more

I've stayed at Ashland Motel for 2 weeks each of the last 2 summers. The rooms are newly renovated. Comfortable beds, nice bathroom, mini fridge, coffee pot, microwave. The proprietors and staff are very nice and will help you whenever needed. The rooms are always cleaned thoroughly. Friends of mine have stayed in more expensive places and gotten worse service and quality of rooms. 2 weird things that have been inconvenient. There is no dresser or closet. Instead there is a wardrobe where you can hang things and stack. Also, there is no room phone, which could be an inconvenience for some. read more

This is an older motel, but the rooms are bright and clean and appear to have been recently remodeled. The motel is quiet, the front desk folks are extemely friendly, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom has a large shower. the ashland motel is as good as it gets! we stayed for one night passing through. checked in at 11 pm, they were closing up but were still accommodating and friendly. got us a room in a jiffy! room was clean, beautiful hard wood floors and very nice, large bathroom. great shower. beautiful tile. comfortable bed with clean linens. had a great sleep. checked out the next morning and they were just as friendly. best of all, it was all for a great price! would definitely recommend !! :) read more
