This hotel does a really great job, especially for their size. It's clear to me now that this is a small, family operation, yet the rooms are all clean, everything is comfortable, the bathroom is clean and everything is stocked. The hotel is also in a great location to order food in. Which is awesome because it's nice to be able to order in. The breakfast included thing isn't really anything special, the front desk has a little bit of a funny smell, and there are some small bugs that will be there if you try to crack the window in the bathroom. In the motel category, we would give the Phoenix Motel really high marks! Be sure to get one of the four rooms with the attached kitchen. So glad we stumbled upon this one. We literally saw it on a freeway sign and decided to check it out. It's been an adventurous day so we thought, why not? My kids love it. The pool is tiny and perfect for a quick cool off. The owner is very nice and friendly. Can 'house proud' apply to a motel? The room has a new tv, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, and air conditioning that works. $65 for the four of us. There's a little mini-market across the road. We will definitely be stopping here again. read more

Cheap and Clean . . . -ish! Pleasantly surprised by this roadside motel - what could be a roach motel luckily housed no bugs (at least none that we found), was recently renovated (I think? the carpet, bathroom floor, sink, and other appointments looked on the newer side) and it looks like the owners are doing a good job taking care of things. Oh, but they did pick up a pair of pink chairs from the local goodwill that prob should have stayed there (head stains and all). At least they matched the decor. Don't expect luxury. Sheets are a little scratchy and the soap is def not Crabtree and Evelyn, but everything was very clean and smelled good. For $45/night, you can get a lot worse, but I'm not sure you can do any better. My husband wants me to add that the receptionist (owner?) was nice. Bonus! read more

We made the reservation ahead of time & the vacant sign was lit; when my husband showed the verification email, she said there were no rooms available & referred him to another hotel. Yet another hotel taken over by people of Eastern persuasion, who don't know how to apologize when they f-ck-up. Totally rude experience. I own a local research facility, and I live out of state. A visiting PhD (also from out of state) asked if he could use my room to take a shower before check-out time, because he just finished a long drive. "No problem" I say, as I give him my key, "check out is 11, so finish before that time...I haven't checked out, yet, so should be fine." He arrives at 10. He arrives and parks his new Jeep Cherokee, and waits for the cleaning girls, on both sides of my room, to leave because their carts were blocking my door. After they leave, he goes in. He undresses and gets in the shower, but before he can turn on the water, Barat, or whatever-the-hell-his-name-is, starts banging on the door. So, Dr M answers the door (nude, of course) and "Barat" tells him to leave the premises immediately. So, no shower for my guest before check-out, and he gets to stink for the rest of the day, while doing chemistry at my lab. Not a pleasant experience for this person. When I called "Barat," his response was that "nobody told me someone was coming." Oh, really? I'm supposed to ask permission for how I use my room before check-out time? So I ask "Why didn't you just call me? You have my phone number..." He had no answer, other than to say "I'm not going to call you." And "Barat" proceeded to say that Dr M (a White guy, of German persuasion) "looked suspicious...sitting in his car for 15 minutes, before entering the room." I replied, "A white guy sitting in a brand new car for 15 minutes looks suspicious to you?" I asked if Dr M could come back and finish his shower, and he answered "No, we already cleaned the room." I then ask how he will make things right, to which he had no answer. I replied, "So, you would rather never have our business ever again, in the future?" His reply "doesn't matter to me." And then he proceeded to say that he thought Dr M might have been a vagrant! A vagrant driving a new Jeep??? That's a new one! What an idiot. Totally rude. Just like the prior comment about the husband arriving in a hoodie, because that's what people do when they drive long distances. So in my case, a person with messed-up hair qualifies as a "vagrant" and is kicked out of the hotel. I want to support other local businesses, but people of this type are not interested in being good neighbors. They think like their culture...which is rude, and not, how shall I say this, White? So now I have to decide if I go to small claims court for getting back the money I'd paid for the room, and having service interruption prior to the check-out time. I've done this type of thing before to get the maximum embarrassment for all employees and management involved, especially when I can't seem to get anyone to listen. I was going to recommend another hotel, but I have yet to find one close by that isn't run by people of such nationality. I'll keep looking. It's a takeover, I tell you. read more

It was a nightmare. Mid-July during the 101 to 104 degree temps we stayed at the Phoenix Motel, for a week, while visiting family in Phoenix. For FOUR days straight our AC didn't work - we slept with bath window and front-facing-the-parking-lot window open for AIR. A very un-safe situation by anyone's standards! The manager refused to do anything about it - until the 5th day. You do not want to spend the money - let alone experience horrible sleeping conditions - staying at a place, which is marginal at best, where the manager treats guests like crap! This review is long overdue. I feel bad I waited over 2 months to give this hotel our praise. I apologize for taking so long Barat (spl?). Came up to Oregon for my daughter's National softball tournament at the end of July into the beginning of August 2016 from San Diego. I knew my family would be exhausted after our 16 hour drive and we needed something affordable, spacious, and clean. Hotel Phoenix provided those things and more for the week we were up there. Initially, I booked this hotel, along with several others just in case, thru an online booking service. I called him to verify the price and confirm the room since they offer rooms with kitchens, which is a big plus for me. He told me that the room booked online did not include the kitchen, but he would offer it to me at the same price. I jumped on that deal and I didn't regret it at all even though we stayed apart from the team and other families. Barat hooked us up with a two queen room with full kitchen-fridge, stove, cups, plates, utensils, and a dining table. The beds were comfortable and clean-and I thoroughly checked! There was even a comfortable recliner-BONUS! There is a pool that my kids enjoyed all to themselves, but the best part of it all was that we paid half of what our teammates spent at a higher rated hotel with less accommodations. Yes, they don't have a breakfast room, but they at least have breakfast. For the price they charge, this is a courtesy. Cereal, oatmeal, muffins, breakfast claws, yogurt, bananas, and juice helped us save money by not having to grab Jack in the Box or McDonalds on our way to the games- which are super close to the hotel by the way. Barat gave us extra towels when we needed them, left us alone on the house cleaning, but offered every time he saw me, and suggested family friendly things to do while we were there. I appreciate Barat and his family for welcoming us to their hotel. They were so generous and helpful. We felt safe and there was no road noise. If we ever make the trek back up to Oregon, we will stay there again without a doubt. read more

Nice small mom and pop motel close to Ashland, historic Jacksonville and Harry & David. We stayed in a remodeled room with a kitchen. Clean and functional along with pleasant and accommodating staff. Breakfast is a nice touch although heavy on carbs and sugar. Great value and a pleasant stay. read more

Greatly Exceeded expectations for the price! Got a room for less than $100 on Hotels.com. Was hoping for a microwave, got a full kitchen in an additional room, with oven, toaster, microwave, fridge, and even dishes. Beds were comfortable. Nice, new looking floors, no carpets. Room smelled like pine-sol, not my fave but gave me some confidence about the cleanliness. Owner was extremely friendly. His lobby is tiny, but he puts out as much standard motel breakfast as he can fit. A diamond in the rough. Very satisfied. read more

There was a misunderstanding with the owner when they checked in because they didn't realize she was checking in with four people, but he upgraded their room for no charge. Rented a room I had ants in my bed the floors were so dirty I had to wear shoes I paid for 3 nights and asked for a refund and was told I would be refunded when I got to the office they refused to give me a refund. The HABEEB charged me for another night and only refunded me a partial amount This motel is disguisting they tried to rent me another room that was like a cracker box and the odor was so offensive that there was no way I could be in there let alone pay to sleep there. This motel is gross the HABEEB who represented himself as the owner was suddenly not the owner when it was time to do the right thing and refund me. So, I am pretty picky about clean in motels, even the small amount of dirt I might l have in my own house, missed after regular cleanings. This place was clean. Yes, the carpet is starting to age, but that is about it. I got the single room with two queen beds at a very reasonable price. The refrigerator and microwave were included. The bed was very comfortable, and the bedding was nicely clean. In fact the sheets smelled clean without any of that heavy scent stuff that passes for clean in some motels. There was good basic cable, and it was QUIET! My check-in made through an online hotel place (reservation with confirmation number) was fast and easy. No road noise, no guest noise, just good sleep. The place is also nicely within walking distance to a very American-style Chinese restaurant and a convenience store. Great stuff when you don't want to drive any more. This weary traveler was very pleased. I judge the little breakfasts in these places as to whether they have a little fresh fruit. Bananas right there at the counter with the coffee, cereal, and croissants. For me, this economy motel hit all the right notes. read more
