Maybe it is because it is one of those places where you can stroll through and I can then say that I have been there, and as such I can then write a review on it. Well, as far as shopping centres go, in particular Westfield shopping Centres, this one really isn't all that big. Still, they have everything that you would expect in a shopping centre, and a reasonable range of shops, as far as shopping centres go of course. This place was a big freaking deal when it first opened. One of the first Westfields. The very…read morefirst Westfield was in Blacktown, just west of here. The name Westfield is derived from "west" related to the West-Sydney location, and "field" due to having located on subdivided farmland. But this one in Burwood was close to follow, called Westfield Shoppingtown back then. Went back to check it out in November 2012, and it looked a little hokey and cramped. Things seem so big when you are small. Who would want to grocery shop here now? Seems a little bit like a relic, and the stores are kinda lame now. Wish I could give it more than two stars. Wikipedia says that Westfield Group currently has interests in total assets worth Aus$58 billion, owning 119 shopping malls in four countries - Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States - with over 10 million square meters of retail space. It is the world's largest retail property group. I've never heard this, but it seems to me they want to have the name Westfield synonymous with the term "mall", so they drop the word "mall" from the name of a shopping center they buy and refurbish. There are huge Westfields in Santa Ana near where I live, and Topanga Canyon in LA for example that had their name changed from "mall".

They also have ceramic items such as tea cup and saucer set, novelty items etc. From books, to calendars, notepads, pens, travel mugs, canvas prints, back to school packs and the list goes on. Okay, the help desk was sort of helpful, but then again despite their directions I still ended up spending ages actually trying to find something that I simply wasn't going to find anytime soon. The place is confusing, and while one might be able to get some cheap goods here, they fact that you can really only get here by car means that its accessibility isn't all that great either. Well, there is a bus stop nearby, but getting inside is still a challenge.

We took the Uber and it was located right along the bay. Beautiful sight and you can walk the 7 km if you feel like it. Found a lot of bargains. $9.99 summer clothes. $5 kids clothes. But of course, if you're into designer high end brands, They're all here. For tourists only, just visit the Guests Services and you will receive the Visitor Passport for extra discounts in most stores. Guests services also provides charging stations, complimentary herbal tea or water and lounge areas.

The comparison is....conspicuous. On the other hand this little shopping centre has been a very handy addition to the Inner West. For starters its ushered in Fitness First. Now, love it or loathe it, you've got to admit it's pretty damned convenient being able to hit the gym right as you jump off the train on your way home from work. Newtown Central also houses a Foodworks, a Cellarbrations bottleo (more convenience(, a Vietnamese bakery, a nail salon and Sole Espresso (good coffee!). It will still take a while to properly settle into the suburb - but the location speaks for itself.

I went back a few months later and they had a whole different range in, I suppose that's the way it goes with factory outlets. There is a full range of women's, men's and kid's underwear and some pyjamas, as well as sports clothes and tracksuits. Brands include Bonds, Berlei, Jockey, Holeproof, Slazenger and Everlast.

The floor is full of urine and the worst part is there is NO HOOK on the door to put the bag. I often go to the medical centre on the 2nd floor to use the toilet, I still have to wait forever because the lifts are very small. The management seriously need to look at the toilet

And it's understandable - Strathfield Plaza is the definition of bare bones. Literally one level - one level! - of a few shops that you might stumble across apart from the big fat Woolies and the chemist's from time to time. It's quite literally nothing.

A relatively inexpensive shopping centre in the Inner West, containing a few of the bigger chain…read morestores (Kmart, Woolworths, Aldi, Liquorland, McDonalds, Dick Smith etc) and plenty of smaller stores too. Definitely hard to get to by public transport, your only options are essentially buses to Bondi Junction or buses to the city. Quite a large carpark, parking is free (limited to 2 hours undercover) - with plans to redevelop and expand the shopping centre upwards - with hopefully some larger chains to open up.
