I have a lengthy review because I just want to express how important it is to have healthy teeth and how lucky we were to finding Dr. Kortam. I googled online for an orthodontist in the area and reviewed several orthodontist in Ashburn, and one thing that attracted me to Ashburn Orthodontics was the consistency of the reviews. Every patient's experience and outcome was beyond satisfactory. I decided to take my little brother for a few consultations, just to compare prices- we were on a tight budget. However I'd never pay less for mediocre service. To my pleasant surprise the price was the reflection of their service, expertise, and over all comfort of the patient...the best thing was their payment option. I chose the no-interest monthly payment. Made it easy for me to start my younger brother right away and not break the bank. Getting a good deal doesn't always mean you are getting a good outcome, however when we first met Dr. Kortam- she was unlike many dentist/doctors I knew. From the very beginning she came over to greet us, made us feel important by not rushing us, answering our questions thoroughly, and of course being honest with us. She didn't downplay the length of time just to make my brother happy about being done soon, but educated him on the health of his teeth and how important it was for him to be patient through the process and cooperate in getting him a healthy and beautiful smile. Instantly we felt so comfortable- the staff was awesome. From the receptionist being so friendly and joyful to the assistant Melanie, everyone made us feel part of their little family. My younger brother hates seeing the dentist and has bad gag reflexes, but Melanie was so patient and so kind and took the process slow as to not hurt him or get him to an uncomfortable stage. We see Dr. Kortam at every appointment, she is there throughout the entire treatment. My brother has been seeing her for almost 18 months now, and every time she gives us an update, answers any questions we have, and leaves us feeling great at the end of each appointment. She knows every patient of hers, their names, their hobbies, and their story and makes everyone feel special. Besides her amazing chair side manner she is also extremely educated in orthodontics and knowledgeable in her field. I recently realized regular dentist will perform orthodontics, however to be an Orthodontist, you go to school for an extra 2 years after graduating dental school. One of the truly awesome things Ashburn Orthodontics offers is ALWAYS seeing her emergency patients. Dr. Kortam and her staff will always accommodate patients, especially in an emergency situation. Even if she was out of the country and you have an emergency, best believe she has a solution at the end. They have flexible hours, early morning, late evenings, and weekends. One more compliment: the place is always so clean, neat and smells fresh. My brother's treatment has been so wonderful and we've seen so much improvement that I decided to be a patient as well! I had an overbite, and did not want metal in my mouth as a 28 year old, so she custom planned an Invisalign treatment for me. It is the best option for me, its flexible, easy, and unnoticed by most. Dr. Kortam will always work with you to make sure you are satisfied with every aspect of the treatment process. I've seen her go above and beyond for her patients, and at the end of the day she truly enjoys her work and that is a reflection on her patient's smiles. I have referred my cousins to Dr. Kortam, and both are waiting to start treatment with her. Because Dr. Kortam wants my cousin to reach his growth spurts she insisted that they wait on any kind of ortho treatment as it would be a waste in the long run because his growth spurt would interject with the treatment. While other orthodontists wanted my cousins to start the day of their consult, Dr. Kortam rest assured that there is no rush and just to wait till it is the appropriate time. I had a fantastic experience at Ashburn Orthodontics. I have been a patient there for over two years and I just finished up my Invisalign Treatment. As an adult looking for orthodontic treatment, I was a bit apprehensive but Dr. Kortam and her staff walked me through all of my options and helped me find the treatment that I felt most comfortable with. Here are a few of the things that stand out about my experience: Dr. Kortam and her staff are friendly, know me by name, and are always very welcoming. They are flexible with appointment times and offer evening and Saturday appointments. They are also very competent. I would consider Dr. Kortam a perfectionist (what a great trait to have in an orthodontist) and she always did the best thing for me and my treatment. There has been little to no staff turn-over since I have been a patient and I have observed that the staff work as a team and you can tell they enjoy their jobs. Dr. Kortam goes above and beyond with all of the details. The office is very clean, stylish, and is set up for both adults and children. There is a coffee station, wi-fi, and also engaging activities in the waiting room for the teens and children. The great thing is that I never got to enjoy the great waiting room because it was very rare that I ever had to wait. I was usually taken back for my appointments almost immediately upon arriving. We have been seeing Dr. Kortam for the past 2 years and practically consider her and her staff as apart of our family. There aren't enough positive words in the dictionary to describe the incredible work she does and the great experiences we've had with her. It has been more than 2 years now, since we started with Dr.Kortam for my son braces. Now, my whole family except my husband are her patients. Dr.Kortam is a highly professional, knowledgeable and exceptionally humanitarian. Whenever my kids have trouble with their braces (kids do that more by doing things that are not supposed to be done), she will always be there with a smile, whether it is late evening, early morning or holidays. I usually don't write reviews on Yelp, however, the professional service that my son has been receiving from Dr. Kortam has been nothing but extraordinary. She has been very accommodating for my son, always taking as much time as needed for him to settle down before any procedure, explaining to him, in a very easy to understand way, what she is about to do, and never charging me for the additional time and service. You can imagine the king of patient you would need with an 11 years old's endless barrage of why this and that. My daughters had their braces made at Ashburn Orthodontics and the experience has been just GREAT! Dr. Kortam is extremely talented. She is very gentle with the kids. They love her! Went for a complimentary consultation and had a great experience! Through some mix-up, it turns out they don't take our insurance and so we won't be using them for services and I'm really sad about it. We've been to several orthodontists in the area and love the professional, organized way they handled everything versus what we've seen elsewhere. My husband even said we should pay the several thousand extra outside of insurance to use them! We even went so far as getting spacers and impressions done for the expander even though they knew there was a chance insurance wouldn't work out and they wouldn't be reimbursed. They knew I was anxious to get my son started and they were very accommodating. They were also very honest about my second son not needing work for several years. We were informed ahead of time about what we need to have done for my daughter and how insurance will work. I have to say this is my second time with braces. My first teen experience was nothing like my time with dr. Kortam. 2 year's went by like it was no time at all. Any problems at all, dr k would call me back rite away and meet me in the office weekends, holidays etc. The staff is just as nice. They are all there to answer questions, help with anything, compliment you on your band colors etc. They make you laugh and smile, and take wonderful care of you. This orthodontist is beyond 5 stars. Both of my children are patients at Ashburn Orthodontics. My son has been in braces with Dr. Kortam for nearly 2 years and my daughter has been being monitored until she is ready for braces. Dr. Kortam hasn't pressured or pushed us to put her into braces until we are all in agreement that she is ready. Dr. Kortam always explains where we are with our son and what he needs to work on.
