I initially heard about this office on google when searching for an orthodontist for my son. They conveniently offer scheduling a new consult via their website. Scheduling was very simple and I thought we were done. Within one hour of scheduling a few weeks ago, I received a text message and 3 missed phone calls from their office. This was a huge turn off as a new patient. I was in a phone meeting At the time so it was very frustrating that they kept calling in such a short amount of time as well as texting. I did call and spoke with their office manager and expressed my frustration at being contacted so many times within such a short time frame. Their office manager stated it was because they needed to reschedule my appointment. At that time I decided not to reschedule and take some time to think. A few weeks later ( today) I decided that maybe it was a one time issue. Sometimes things happen and there is a need to call a patient and reschedule. Unfortunately the same issue happened again today. Within a short time of scheduling online, I was emailed and told they needed to reschedule my appointment. At this point I truly feel that management and the orthodontist need to have a sit down and revamp their online scheduling system or just figure out what is going on. When you have a new patient, you typically want your first interaction to be great. You don't want to have to contact them right away and reschedule. You want things to go smoothly and make a good impression. I had not one but two disappointing experiences with this practice before ever walking in the door and it is at this point that I realize this will not be the office that I want my son going to.

I went to another pediatric practice in Fairfax city a few years ago and my 4yo daughter was traumatized from the whole experience of going to dentists. But kindness and patience at Dr Fontes' office restored her beliefs how regular cleanups and treatments are important. Her whole office is well-lit with natural light, clean and thoughtfully decorated. Very kid-friendly! They have private rooms if your kids have sensory issues, and they have overhead TV screens playing animated kids movies that they can turn on/off depending on your child's needs/preferences. We are a family who refuses fluoride treatment for health reasons, and she understands and respects our decision, never trying to persuade or demean our decision (as other dentists have over the years). They even have an orthodontist in the same office for if/when your kids need braces later on in life. If your kid experiences a dental trauma, or requires sedation for major anxiety issues, she works with a trusted area anesthesiologist and shuts the office down once per month for dedicated sedation and surgical cases. (Which we have used 5x over the last 10 years, and highly recommend.) The waiting room has a safari theme with jungle animal decals, stuffed plush, etc. There's a smaller "kids tech room" that has video games and mounted iPads too! For adults, a Keurig machine for a much needed caffeine boost. They work with most dental insurance plans, and the front desk staff are very friendly. They even provide a letter of medical necessity if you need it to appeal for anesthesia coverage from your plan. Highly recommend Dr. Neda Kalantar for any type of kid, including those with special needs such as autism, ADHD, anxiety and sensory issues.

Our family dentist was not answering, so I kept calling around to the top rated dentists. Dr. Grossman called me back, and within an hour we were sitting in her office getting help. As you see in the picture my daughter was just like new within an hour, and we will be forever grateful. Dr. Grossman seriously must have the best bedside manner you could ever ask of a doctor period, then add it was a Saturday evening. It is evident she is passionate about her calling, and we were blessed that she was able to serve us. If it wasn't for COVID, I'd have probably hugged her in gratitude.

It made what should have been a routine experience unnecessarily uncomfortable and stressful. On top of that, I was referred out for a root canal to an out-of-network specialist without that being clearly communicated to me. This ended up costing me significantly more than expected. Because of this referral, I quickly exhausted my insurance benefits and was left paying much higher out-of-pocket costs. To make matters worse, when I raised concerns about this, the office was not willing to take responsibility or work toward a resolution. I was still charged an additional $647, which they would not waive despite the circumstances. Overall, this experience was frustrating both from a care standpoint and a financial transparency standpoint. I would strongly encourage others to ask detailed questions about referrals and insurance coverage before proceeding here.

While we were driving to the office, only 5-10 minutes away, she called again and told us, since we were late for 15 minutes, we had to reschedule. When we got to the office and asked her about the situation, she said she did not care about our safety in driving at all, it is our own business if we decided to pick up the phone. I have never heard anyone being so rude and disrespectful. On the other hand, with such an attitude. I highly doubt if she will put her patient's health and safety first as a healthcare worker.
