They have private rooms if your kids have sensory issues, and they have overhead TV screens playing animated kids movies that they can turn on/off depending on your child's needs/preferences. We are a family who refuses fluoride treatment for health reasons, and she understands and respects our decision, never trying to persuade or demean our decision (as other dentists have over the years). They even have an orthodontist in the same office for if/when your kids need braces later on in life. If your kid experiences a dental trauma, or requires sedation for major anxiety issues, she works with a trusted area anesthesiologist and shuts the office down once per month for dedicated sedation and surgical cases. (Which we have used 5x over the last 10 years, and highly recommend.) The waiting room has a safari theme with jungle animal decals, stuffed plush, etc. There's a smaller "kids tech room" that has video games and mounted iPads too! For adults, a Keurig machine for a much needed caffeine boost. They work with most dental insurance plans, and the front desk staff are very friendly. They even provide a letter of medical necessity if you need it to appeal for anesthesia coverage from your plan. Highly recommend Dr. Neda Kalantar for any type of kid, including those with special needs such as autism, ADHD, anxiety and sensory issues.

Literally everyone that you meet from the doctor, to the assistants, to the trainees, and the front desk people are truly the best. They are kind, patient, punctual, and they really take the time to explain every little thing that they are doing. One thing that truly sets them apart is how involved Dr. Temburni is with every patient. In a majority of dental offices I've been to in the past, I would have face time with the dentist for like five seconds at the end of every cleaning. That is definitely not the take case here. My husband is having some recent issues and he's been impressed with the way that Dr. Temburni has been collaborating with his surgeon. This place is a rare gem -- five stars all around!

This 5 star review written by a person who has been generally terrified by dentists…read more So, imagine a super frazzled lady walking into a dentist office, immediately talking about how scared she's of dentists, all the terrible experiences she had in the past (one of my previous dentists ended up going to PRISON) and just generally babbling. That was me the first time. Despite the way I'm sure I came off, Dr. Hochman and her staff were so accommodating to my fear of getting my teeth checked/cleaned. Dr. Hochman and staff were very friendly and easy going, and their demeanor helped me bring it down a few notches. They walked through the procedures really slowly and even said I could listen to music if I wanted. Also, because of previous experiences, scare tactics ("if you don't get this or that extremely expensive procedure done all your teeth will fall out and you'll die") do not work on me, they just make me freak out immediately and run. There's nothing like that in this practice, and in the two + years I've been going, it's never felt like they were trying to do anything that wasn't necessary. The only way I'd ever switch dentists would have to be a move out of the DC greater area (I'm now in Rockville, and there's still no way I'd change) . Even my fiancee and mom switched dentists to go with Dr. Hochman ;D

She noticed an issue on my x-ray that no other dentist had noticed and referred me to get it checked out. She is kind, her bedside manner is excellent, and she explains exactly what's going on and why it's important. She even sent me a hand-written thank you note after my first visit. You can tell she cares about her patients and wants to provide excellent customer service. This professionalism extends to all of the staff at Comprehensive Dental. My teeth have never felt cleaner than they do after my cleanings with the hygienists here. The office staff is polite and friendly when scheduling or changing appointments. They run things on time, and greet you in a friendly way. These might seem like small details, but I'm a person who hates to go to the dentist and I honestly look forward to my appointments here. I had the worst dental experience of my life with Dr. Chang, and would strongly recommend going…read moreelsewhere. All of my family members used to go to Dr. Chang, and we all stopped. A dentist really needs to exercise judgment, and Dr. Chang has very poor judgement. during one visit, he found four cavities. The next session, he decided to do all four fillings in one session. I didn't know any better, but I later learned this was a horrible idea and is very tough on your jaw to endure. He also knew I had trouble with keeping my jaw open for a long time (TMJ) yet proceeded with this health plan. After he did two fillings, I was already in a lot of pain with my jaw. He continued with the plan and said we should do the other two as well. During the third filling, I actually started crying and tearing up because the pain was so so bad. Dr. Chang acknowledged the pain but did not stop. In the middle of the fourth filling, he said another patient needed him and that we would have to pause. This meant I would have to once again undergo the set up of opening my mouth etc. He apologized and said he knew I was in pain but still left me to attend another patient and I cried in my seat. I spent several hours at the dentist that day. And for the next several days, I couldn't even open my mouth properly to eat. All of this pain and aftermath for simple dental fillings - truly ridiculous and a serious lack of judgement shown by Dr. Chang. I'll also add, Dr. Chang used to routinely find 4-5 cavities, and since I have switched dentist for the past 3 years I have had maybe one, if that. Family members used to go to Dr. Chang, and we all stopped. A dentist really needs to exercise judgment, and Dr. Chang has very poor judgement.

All the while he was jabbing me in the back of my throat with one of his instruments during the placement of a crown -- ignoring my yelps of pain and asking him to stop. In the same visit, he was forcing the floss so violently between my two teeth after the crown had been cemented (because the crown was too large), he cut my lower lip and hit me in the chin. Again, no apologies whatsoever from him. Instead, he blamed me! Afterward when I was nearly in tears, he argued with me about the pain he was causing and called me "a difficult person to work with." I have never in my life experienced anything like it. And all of this happening while he manically talked and talked and talked through my entire procedure ... asking me ridiculous questions I couldn't begin to answer with my mouth pried open and him jabbing instruments into my mouth. He also spent 2.5 hours the first visit preparing me for the crown and remaking the temporary twice due to lack of communication with his staff. Then to add insult to injury (literally!) he called me back days later to request I come back in for one hour to REMAKE the crown! There is even more -- too much to put into this review. Suffice it to say, I will NEVER be going back. The only redeeming aspect of my experiences with him is the office administrator, Jane, who seems extremely professional and kind. Ironically, she is his wife. Bless her. Truly.

My kids love the trinkets they get from the vending machine. They usually give out tokens to the kids after each appointment to use on the vending machine. It was a warm and thoughtful gesture for the kids. Things went backwards after our appointment yesterday. My son is shy so I usually ask the receptionist for a token on his behalf. Sadly the receptionist refused to give us one. In a shameful way she responded while my son stood next to me: "We don't give tokens to kids who have an orthodontist appointment...We only give them to the kids who get their cleaning done." I had no words as it took a while for me to process what I heard. We've had appointments of all kinds and never experienced this before (one time my daughter got a token simply waiting for her brother in the lobby). I'm not the confrontational type so needless to say, we left the office with our heads down, not having the same warm and fuzzy feeling as before. Just want to be clear, this is not about the prize/rewards (we can get these from Amazon for dirt cheap). It's about how the receptionist crushed the principle this clinic upholds. If this the policy she is forced to enforce then the clinic is better of discontinuing the whole "reward system" program, instead discriminative of who gets it vs not.
