Service was fine, doctor was fine - however after being trapped in this building for 2hrs (first patient intake & whatnot) I walked out heaving.. The entire building smells like pee. There is no way I am the only one who noticed this. When I first walked into the building I noticed immediately the overwhelming smell of human pee. Then I looked around and noticed that all the furniture is fabric. EVERY piece of furniture throughout the entire building (minus the exam tables) are 100% fabric. With a clientele that is primarily elderly, this should be a known risk to plan interiors for. It is rude and inconsiderate to the patients to not be mindful in planning furniture and environment like this. Also - it's gross and has to be against some kind of law! I had to burn my clothes after the visit that's how strong the scent was throughout the whole building. I was there for only two hours...

By the time the paperwork got sorted (I'd switched jobs and carriers) Palmer's Office had already sent me to Collections - for $38. I called Carol in Billing thinking we'd have an adult discussion to see if the account could be pulled from Collections, and she started hectoring at me. Her condescending tone was shocking. In her best "Church Lady" from SNL voice, she informed me that the Collections fees that tripled the original amount were my punishment due for being irresponsible. Her disdain and certainty that I was a despicable human being was just amazing. I was no longer the faithful client of two years who'd paid thousands of dollars, every month, on time; I was now an immoral deadbeat who owed them $38! "We're in business to make money," she sneered over the phone. I told her I've written off more money for clients who've paid less, out of loyalty and good will. BE FOREWARNED. Quality of care was fine; loyalty = zero; greed factor = over the top; humanity=zero..

To start with, Dr. Wallace was very responsive and able to get me in quickly. His office is less than 15 minutes from my home, on the corner of 13th & Waller (new location). After completing the standard healthcare paperwork, we talked about my issues and did a short seated spine evaluation. He assessed my range of motion and pain before I laid down on the exam table. Dr. Wallace was able to pinpoint the causes of my most recent pain, noting that my right hip was twisting opposite of my spine and my left side was compensating for the torn ACL in my right knee. The first step in healing was to get on the table to begin adjusting my spine. The exam table collapsed to allow for appropriate pressure to be applied to move things back where they belonged. It had been such a long time since my last treatment, it was evident that it would take some time and attention for my pain to be alleviated. I felt reassured and validated knowing that my back was a mess but not something that couldn't be helped. I held quite a bit stiffness due to past injuries, but was pleasantly surprised after the adjustment and stretching of my spine. I left the office without pain and am beyond pleased after my first visit, knowing we have a treatment plan in mind. I'm certain I'll be back to 'normal' in no time!

I went for a new patient intake. Parked right outside their door, which was not allowed. How was I to know? No signs, etc. I wanted to get my son in there for some badly needed spine work. Due to the demands of my son's job the only time he can get to appointments is Friday afternoons. I explained this to the doctor and asked if we could have the intake appt. on a Friday afternoon and he said YES. When I asked Carolyn to make the appt. SHE WOULD NOT. She said I would just have to keep calling to see if there were any Friday cancellations. Apparently the office closes Friday afternoons so they all can go home early.... well that's nice, but what about what the doctor said?? -smh- I just didn't feel like doing battle with her. My son still needs a chiro, but we'll go someplace else. Goodness knows that there are a ton of chiropractors around, and lots of Palmer (School of Chiropractic) graduates, as well.

My entire visit was under $400 which included blood work and important referrals. For someone paying out of pocket this is a very good value in my opinion. The quality of my experience here contrasts so starkly from other experiences that I really needed to encourage others to consider care here!

ZoomCare fortunately takes my insurance (Providence), so I made an appointment for the next day. I teach communication skills to health care providers so am usually not too impressed when I have to interact with the health care system myself - but I had a great experience at ZoomCare! I was shown into an exam room as soon as I walked in, and I saw Erin, a nurse practitioner; she was empathic, warm, and collaborative. She shared her thoughts and recommendations regarding my options and asked what I wanted to do. We decided on a chest x-ray; she immediately printed out a referral form and they sent me over to Salem Radiology after a minute-long check-out process. When I got home, I was able to log on to ZoomCare to see my visit summary and notes, and there was an option to email the provider if I had any follow-up questions. So glad this place exists - hope I don't need to go again anytime soon, but it's good to know that it's there if needed. 3/20/23 update: I was back with another issue and saw a different practitioner, Joe; had yet another excellent experience (well, as excellent as a visit to urgent care can be). I didn't have child care so brought my toddler along with me, and they were 100% cool with that. I needed a prescription and was dreading rushing to a pharmacy with my daughter and trying to rush back home for work, but they had what I needed on hand, so no extra trip needed! (Note that it's not a fully-stocked pharmacy - the last time I was there they didn't have the OTC and prescription stuff I needed, but fortunately they did this time.)
