    Smash burger
    Emi M.

I like their cider but I had never come here for the sit-down dining experience. They are on Washington street and have a free parking lot. They didn't have a menu book and there was a QR code. We went for lunch. While their cider is absolutely wonderful, I was a bit disappointed with the food. I got a smash burger and chicken tortilla soup ( glad this was an option as a side). Soup was great, and I should have gotten a big bowl of that. Smash burger's patty was dry, lacked flavor and umami. It's a smash burger so it didn't have any sauce in it, so it was bland as a whole. I will always love the ciders but may not come back for the food. Service was great on the other hand, our server answered welcomed questions and did a great job explaining menu and different types of cider to us.

    Pretzels

Had a GREAT time at bingo, 10/5 stars for the entertainment, but the food was dreadful. The pretzels seemed like a good deal, where you can add a second for $2, but I see why - they're definitely the cheap, frozen kind. The cheese sauce was a very strange flavor and grainy. Our waiter was nice but pretty MIA. Drinks were good (especially the mulled cider) but the first round, over 30 minutes before the event started, took more than 30 minutes to receive. The nachos were soggy with way too much of the same gross cheese sauce (I didn't realize it was the same sauce when ordering, so that's my mistake). Lots of upcharges here for very low quality items, which is a bummer. The chicken tenders were hard and burnt, but the bbq sauce was good, despite being $1.50 to add. The fries were the frozen kind so nothing exciting there. My friend's burger got cold while waiting on bacon, which was thin and black, dropped off by the kitchen. By the time our waiter came, we were done eating what we could. Overall, I would never, ever eat here again, especially when 3 ciders, 2 apps, and 1 entree was over $100 for such low quality food, but I'd check out bingo at the other Ash & Elm location in Carmel. PS it looks like they used to have great food here, anyone know what happened?!

Smash burger with a fried egg and bacon (VERY burnt!)

Went with some friends to the monthly drag bingo. The food was rough. The drinks and entertainment were great! We got the pretzel, which was okay but tasted like it came out of one of the frozen packets you get at the store. I got the burger and added egg and bacon. The bacon was missing, and by the time they finally brought it out my burger was cold. The bacon was VERY burnt, but I couldn't find my server to alert them of the issue - I ate it because I didn't feel like waiting for fresh bacon and an even colder burger. For $3 for bacon, 2 burnt pieces is absurd pricing. The burger is small in size for the price, so not somewhere I'd want to eat again. I'd come for the drinks and events though!

I have been several times and have always had a pleasant experience. The food is fresh and very creative. Our server was nice but for the place being completely empty, she was not very attentive. It's a nice place to stop for a cider or a flight.

Love this place! I've been here several times through the years. Every time service is friendly and fast and the food is always great. There's always a new cider to try. This time we came for Drag Bingo, which is always fun. Highly recommend!

We actually fell in love with Ash & Elm Cider from the grocery store before knowing they had restaurant locations. But as soon as we looked into, we knew we had to try the cider fresh from the tap. And it didn't disappoint! They really know how to make a crisp brew. Their location is just east of downtown in a nice up-and-coming neighborhood. We easily found parking and they were not too busy at lunchtime during the week. Excellent service, no complaints. The food was also really good. My husband went for the Cuban Sandwich - typical of him - and he really enjoyed it. I had the Harvest Salad and was equally impressed. We will definitely be back. It appears that they host a lot of events and theme nights, so we are going to try to make it back for one of those.

This place deserves a lot of love! Aside from the great food and beverages, a hallmark trait of this restaurant is its inclusivity. In a culinary sense, it is a haven for gluten free diners and there are also several vegetarian and vegan options. Their menu is truly amazing for gf indulgences - fries and all desserts are gf! I also learned that they are making changes to their menu soon so that all fryers are dedicated gluten free. As a mom, I can enjoy going out with my toddler in tow at a hip cider taproom and feeling welcomed wholeheartedly. They bring over a coloring page and markers and have a great selection of affordable kids meals. The staff are always relaxed and friendly, often sharing recommendations. They will even mix ciders so I can enjoy a seasonal flavor with a more dry finish. They also host several fun events throughout the year for different audiences. The taproom is filled with natural light and has a lot of space for diners to relax. If you haven't been, check it out!

    Cider flight

I came here for a group outing after work and we had such a good experience. I already loved A&E ciders, but it was great to stop in the bar for a cider flight. This was when they had the seasonal fall flavors and every single one was absolutely fire! I also got the grilled cheese and it was very tasty :) would definitely go again.

I ordered this thinking it was a drink! They actually instruct you to put it in your beverage. They don't lie when they say rapid release!
    Ashley P.

Will 100% continue to come here. I'm normally not a cider gal but embraced it. If you're not sure, always try a flight and go crazy. Food was phenomenal and the customer service was even better. They even suggested things to do around town that might. The vibe was warm but the space was large and spacious and very bright. If you're looking for an intimate date night, I don't think this is the place. Didn't show our burgers and fries. They have big selection of toppings

    Bailey H.

We had a great time here! The cider flights were so fun + tasty. Would highly recommend the apple butter cider.

    Jenny R.

Ash & Elm has been my favorite cidery in Indy since it first opened! They are always trying new flavors and keep a large selection on tap, which is great for flights! They also change their food menu based on the season. It's a laid back atmosphere with plenty of seating inside, as well as some outdoor seating. The staff has always been super friendly every time I've visited. My only issue is with the parking, which is limited and off to the side along an alley. They host events all year round too, so be sure to check their Facebook page!

I had the roasted turkey sandwich with tomato bisque and my husband had a smash burger and fries.
    M. Rose W.

The ambiance was fun, as they were doing some trivia. Our waitress Stevie was excellent and took good care of us. We had the dry cider, which is excellent. I had the roast turkey sandwich with the bacon jam. I found the bacon jam to be overpowering to the turkey, which I couldn't even taste. I probably would not order this sandwich again. The tomato bisque I had on the side was thick and flavorful. My husband had the smash burger and he liked it. Overall a nice meal in a fun atmosphere. I would LOVE to come back for the Drag Bingo, but I probably wouldn't order food, just the cider.

    Inclusive and welcoming interior ‍

I met a colleague from out of town for a spontaneous dinner. The vibe was relaxed, room is spacious (alert for those with sound concerns: very echoey, bring ear protection), and accessible seating/clear sight make it great for multiple physical challenges. Served was attentive and fun, and gave great recommendations on ciders we might enjoy. I opted for the grilled cheese which is way better than a homemade grilled cheese. Bread was crunchy and delicious, and I remember at least three cheeses? Also had a side of pureed tomato soup, and it was spicy and delicious on our cold evening. I did take home a growler of my cider, because I couldn't resist!

Ask the Community - Ash & Elm Cider

Is it typically noisy here, or more on the quiet side?

    Quiet.

    What is the parking situation?

    Free parking in adjacent lot

Is there anything to drink besides ciders, now? Beer, wine? Hard to get a lot of my friends to go someplace with only ciders. ☹️

Yep! We have a rotating selection of craft beer, a couple wine options, and some N/A beverages too.

    Do they allow dogs?

No dogs allowed, even on patio unfortunately

Do you sell your cider at any other grocery or liquor stores?

Yes! Our cider is at many central IN liquor stores, some Whole Foods and other specialty grocers.

Do you serve any other alcohol other than hard Cider?

No, sorry. Our permit currently only allows us to sell the cider we make.

Someone mentioned events like Bingo but I don't see a calendar or list on your website. Do these groups meet in the bar or in the tasting room?

All events are listed on their Facebook page. They occur in the whole area; bar and tasting room.

Is food served till closing each day?

The kitchen stops taking in orders one hour before closing time each night.

Do they serve food or is it only for special events there? If they don't serve food can you bring anything in?

Yes, we have a regular menu of sandwiches, appetizers, salads and a soup of the day. All made in house with a lot of local suppliers. http://www.ashandelmcider.com/tastingroom/

    Are kids allowed?

Yes! Kids are allowed in the tasting room, and we welcome families. There's not a ton for kids to do, but we do have kid-friendly food options such as the grilled cheese or apple slices with peanut butter.

It was one of the most memorable Pride events I've been to presented by Indy Pride due to the unique venue and atmosphere. This past Wednesday, I had another opportunity to visit Tinker House for a Sound Bath presented by BFF Indy. It was a very different experience as the intention was a more meditative one opposed to a party with a DJ the last time I was there. It was still daylight when I arrived and mostly empty which made it convenient and ideal to explore the bridal suite and take pictures of the venue without any obstructions. The Sound Bath was held on the dance floor with lots of natural light surrounding us. I love the idea of the Sound Bath in this fun space. Although, I've had them in the past at a yoga studio which was MUCH quieter. My constructive criticism is that there is too much noise coming from the traffic outside (especially because this was at 5pm during rush hour) even on the second story of the building to relax and get the full benefits of a Sound Bath. There were no blankets, pillows or yoga mats either which isn't necessarily the responsibility of Tinker House but still something to be noted for future events. BFF Indy should have given attendees a heads up to bring their own supplies because sitting on a hard wood floor where people dance and walk on with shoes that have just been outside downtown is rather off putting and took away from the overall experience. The facilitator did an amazing job all things considered. I will go back for events in the future just not if they are supposed to be relaxing. Tinker House is ideal for social gatherings like weddings and parties. The decor is aesthetically appealing and very well thought out. There is a ambient bar/lounge on the first floor in addition to the one upstairs. There is limited parking in front of the building and a coffee shop next door.
