There's a food truck parked around back that has a few things and we didn't especially love anything we ordered. But it was super affordable, and I highly recommend the apple cider slush! A woman, who I assume was the owner or at least a very charismatic employee, was super kind and loved chatting with us. We will be back and continue to support local.

The owner and her employee were in conversation, and neither greeted us, spoke to us, or even nodded. A simple "Hi" with a smile would have made all the difference. Nice selection in the shop. We thoroughly enjoyed the lavender cookies and tea! I loved that they use biodegradable straws and recycle the cups! The shop porch is a lovely spot to sit on a swing and disconnect from the world. In July, the lavender was not in bloom, but that didn't diminish our enjoyment at all. There is a 'secret' path to "The Sanctuary" - a small grove of Osage orange trees. Unfortunately it's not a secret to mosquitoes, so bring big spray. The grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed walking around and taking pictures and buying lavender souvenirs in the gift shop. This place is small, but the country road drive was fun and worth the trip. The smells are heavenly!

Not only is this a gift shop but you're free to explore the farm and grounds. There is a great space to get away and be surrounded by nature and the woods. As for market vendors, you'll find everything from pasta and local cheese to winter produce, honey and dried flowers. It's a great assortment of food you can actually take home to make meals (and not just sauces and soaps ;). This is one of our favorite ways to spend Saturday mornings in the winter. The Amp - even tho it is not by anything - has the audacity to have pay parking lots but they are FREE during the farmers market! This market is huge with lots of vendors. Bring CASH. Most take credit but a few younger businesses only do cash or Venmo. There's a lot to offer - Filipino food, vegetables, fruits, spices, handmade crafts, baked goods, candles, sandwiches, etc. The food stalls are also open so you have a ton of awesome options for food while you are there!

An entrance and separate exit had been set up. The hanging baskets were affordable and gorgeous but I had already purchased my baskets. The annuals and perennials selection was limited but healthy and a nice variety. Once I went inside the stand I found prebagged greenbeans, tomatoes and new potatoes I had to take home with me. They were fresh and made for a nice summer meal. If you're in the area stop by and checkout the selection. It's a short drive from Plainfield on US 40.

This was my first time attending Kelsay Farms and I went with some friends and other Butler…read morestudents! The farm is perfect for all ages and there were so many fun activities to do for kids and adults. The first thing my friends and I did was get food at the food station. I got a "spooky milkshake", which was delicious (not pictured). They had a choice between vanilla and chocolate soft serve ice cream and it was topped with whipped cream, a donut hole, and a brownie bite. It was very sweet and delicious. It seemed like a lot of people were buying those milkshakes. Then we moved on to the animal barn which was a ton of fun. They had a cow, pigs, chickens, ducks, a bunny, goats, lambs, and even a donkey! You weren't allowed to feed the animals, but you were allowed to pet them and they had a huge bottle of hand sanitizer for people to wash their hands after petting the animals. The animals were gentle and friendly, so parents delt parents felt safe for their kids to pet the animals. Next, we went through a corn maze, and they had a "big" corn maze and "small" corn maze. For the big corn maze, the farm does a different intricate design every year. This year, I believe it was a tractor. They even have signs and QR codes to scan so you could track how far along the maze you are as well as track how long you've been in the corn maze. Then we went on the tractor ride. While this was relaxing, it was very slow and there weren't a ton of beautiful farm views. At one point, we were riding along next to a highway, so that took away from the farm experience a little bit. I also thought they were going to do a bunch of stops at vegetable or pumpkin gardens if even flower patches, but they did not, which I was surprised about considering each hay ride was about 30 minutes long. I would recommend the hay ride to people who want a break from exploring the farm and want to give their feet a rest. After the hay ride, my friends and I decide to check out the gift shop, and they had a lot of stuffed animals, branded shirts and sweatshirts, cookie cutters, and candles that smelled heavenly. Next to the gift shop, they had more activities for people to do. One of the farm's main selling points is their story about Spookley the Square pumpkin. In this space they also set up a backdrop for people to take pictures and a "design your own pumpkin" station where they provide different shapes for eyes, noses, and mouths and you can pick and choose to color in each shape. Near the corn maze, there were a bunch of activities including a giant bounce pad, signs which different games to play (such as "find the corn [popcorn, cornpipe, corn dog, etc]", mazes, and "find the difference"), basketball, a small train for children to ride, human foosball, and a hay tower for people to climb. This pumpkin farm is great for families and friends to attend to have the perfect fall day. They also have a similar experience during the wintertime if you check out their website.

It included local distilleries, wineries, breweries, bakeries- everything. I got to try BBQ bacon, a Cardinal Spirits cocktail, Guac and More guacamole and pico de Gallo, and much more. PS: I bought that pico de gallo because it was THAT good. It was my first time attending this event and you bet I'll be there next time! I feel like I didn't even get to encounter all the businesses because I kept stopping at so many gems.

The day before was the…read morepopular Strawberry Festival... and I missed that for the first time in ages ... so I was quite happy to be able to do this on my lunch hour. The wide variety of "things" that are made in Indiana was inspiring. There were spices, popcorn, sausages, soaps, lotions, flowers, distilleries and wineries, so it was quite an eye feast and the best part was that several of them had free samples! I didn't have a lot of time to chat with everyone but a few of them mentioned their availability at local farmer's markets during the summer season so I can find many of them in Fishers or Broad Ripple or Binford which is closer to home on the weekend :-) This was a great new event and it was very successful in my mind as I noticed several of my coworkers toting bags of the things they bought on their way home that night. I ended up with charcuterie sausage and a small bottle of the delicious Hotel Tango's Limoncello liqueur. I would welcome this as an annual event... or even more frequent than that.

Not only are you a beautiful and educational addition to the White River State Park scene but you also make it possible for all to have access to produce through affordable pricing, SNAP programs and selling to local restaurants. Most are probably familiar with Growing Places Indy thanks to Indy Winter Farmer's Market which they founded and have operated for more than seven years throughout downtown locations (currently: Circle City Industrial Complex / kicking off in November). If you're looking for more ways to get involved with Growing Places Indy, they often have volunteer opportunities and you can visit their June-September farm stands at the Boner Center on Thursdays (4-6:30 PM - also donation-based yoga during this time) and at the IndyGo Transit Center on Fridays from 3-6 pm. They also have farm stands open to the entire community from June to September. The farm stands offer fresh produce for a low cost, and they even accept food stamps. Growing Places Indy also runs the Indy Winter Farmers Market in Circle City Industrial Complex (an incredible market if you haven't been before!). They also teach yoga classes and offer tons of volunteer opportunities for individuals or big groups to come and help in the farms. One of my favorite parts? They communicate with local restaurants to provide local produce. Duos, King Dough, and many more around Indy use some produce from these sites in their cooking. Very cool!
