The Craft Center in the…read morebasement of the EMU is for anyone to come in - you don't have to have anything to do with U of O. I heard about it from a friend of mine, and I took a class where I made a cool sock monkey named Fred. Not a big deal, but now I see all of the other stuff that's available in there. You can take classes for various kinds of cool artsy craftsy things, like glassblowing, pottery, ceramics, jewelry making - and they have a great wood shop. Lots of power tools. If you don't want to take a class, then you can just use their facilities if you already know what you're doing. My class cost $30. It seems like the class costs are really reasonable considering the small class size. The people who work there are a combo of students and regular staff and were really helpful and welcoming. I felt comfortable there and had fun. I'm going to go back and try pottery - I've never done it but there's a beginning class coming up soon. Maybe I can make something better than an ashtray. That class costs $85 for 6 classes. The best way to get info about it is to go to their website - you can sign up for classes online. The website was kind of a pain at first, but eventually I got it to work.

My teacher Mariah was exceptional (the other instructors are also highly regarded), very lively and clear with her demos and her attention to detail made it easy for her to help and situate even practiced throwers with their technique. Everyone elevated each other. There is a special community one feels within a class and also within the greater clay space community. You will meet people at all levels and be amazed by the pros. Speaking for the space itself - Clay Space has it down, very large working areas, plenty of wheels, the firing schedule is clockwork, and the handling of each work is careful and practiced. The owners are highly experienced and can demystify some of ceramic's oddities when you're pushing yourself to try new things. I've never felt crowded out, there are more then enough wheels, tools, resources, as well as multiple work tables/ work rooms. They have individual artists studios as well. I also always liked that they are right next to Whiteaker Printmakers (the owners are amazing people over there as well) - I just love that Eugene has these really excellent art resources, almost unexpectedly but they are some of the best you can find anywhere.

I was a little hesitant at first, but the kind gentleman reassured me and explained how to do it. This was also going to be the fastest and least expensive way for me to get my picture framed and also meet the deadline. The website was easy to use and I was able to select from a number of frames, mats, and glass or plexiglass. Three days later, my framing materials were ready. I picked it up the following day and the gentleman at the counter explained to me how to make sure and put it together correctly. I brought the picture home and put it together, and the result was beautiful. I highly recommend this frame shop for their excellent service and cost effective Do-it-yourself framing --if that's some thing you're keen to try. I'm sure having the piece professionally framed would have resulted in excellent quality work as well. I would trust them to do this if that was something I needed in the future.

I have learned an incredible amount of new skills, been given many opportunities to teach workshops, and help create community through volunteering at free monthly Art Jams on the last Friday of every month. By the way, I highly recommend the Raku class. It was such a rad experience and great for beginners. 10/10 would recommend to anyone and everyone becoming a Wildling student, member, or supporter.

My children have always been treated as whole people, humans with hopes and dreams and ideas at EWS. The Eugene Waldorf School is chock full of visual arts, music, handwork and woodwork, fantastic writing instruction, Spanish language learning, theater productions each class year, plenty of outdoor play, and science, math, and social studies blocks that meet children where they are. For instance, literature is taught through fairy tales in first grade and world literature in eighth grade. As seventh and eighth graders independently explore more of the world around them, their curriculum mirrors that discovery as students study the Renaissance and voyages of discovery. At the Eugene Waldorf School, regular festivals and celebrations such as the Winter Light Fair and May Fair mark the seasons, and older students become invested in and volunteer to help with events to help create the same magical festivals that they remember from their younger years. My kids love the Eugene Waldorf School, and my older child, now a junior in public high school, has carried that love of learning gained at EWS into a successful high school experience.

This was for a special birthday and it's all we wanted to do. Needless to say, we never got a call back, so we were not able to fulfill the birthday wish. The birthday girl and I am severely disappointed, sad and now angry. This is not the experience we wanted or expected. We were in the store six months ago and everyone was falling all over themselves to set up a private class. This isn't how you run a business, it's not how you treat customers, and it's certainly not how you stay in business. The business owner, Cindy, saw my review and said they do not have the staff to offer private classes. Then continued to say to check the website for a form that has info on private events. So which is it? Either you do or you don't. It doesn't matter because they've lost our business and we are now spreading the word to avoid this place because the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. We did get two call backs by the way, one guy told us we needed to talk to Priscilla (who never called us back or would come to the phone) and the other said she taught those classes but wouldn't be available the day we wanted.

This clinic caused significant hair breakage during my full highlight service on 12/12/25 and…read morefailed at every level to handle it appropriately. My hair began breaking while soaking wet, with pieces visibly coming off during the service. Despite this, the student continued brushing and working on my hair instead of stopping immediately. I was not informed that my hair was breaking, and no instructor was called over. The student attempted to hide the hair that had fallen out by concealing it in the brush. The damage was only acknowledged after I explicitly pointed out that my hair was falling out. Anyone with even basic cosmetology knowledge knows that wet hair--especially freshly bleached wet hair--is extremely fragile. You do not brush it while soaking wet, and you absolutely do not start brushing from the scalp down. That is exactly what was done. After the damage occurred, I was pressured to return the next day for a consultation despite stating I was unavailable due to work, and I was told I was still required to pay due to a waiver. A waiver does not excuse negligence, improper technique, or failure to disclose damage as it happens. If you value your hair, proceed with extreme caution. I am leaving this review so others are warned before booking services here.
