My 6yr old just started attending here. I am a mom from Colorado, when Columbine happened, so I suffer high anxiety about public schools. I reached out before the year started, and received personal responses from the principal, the teacher I was hoping for and the warm and friendly woman at the front desk. ... We are 3 months into the school year and I have enjoyed every aspect of it. This school has the friendliest staff who are all very in sync with each other. Like a small family environment. Every morning the principal's happy, encouraging voice goes over the loud speaker, getting all the kids (and parents) excited about the day. After I bring him to class and head to my car, I'm comforted by the "red light" on the doors and the locking gated, which signals they are protected from outsiders. However, if I stop in at some random time to bring my son something, I am welcome through the front desk. Parents can download apps that allow them to communicate with teacher easily and to also see their child's work. When I pick him up, I get the most cheerful greeting from the crosswalk attendant. ... Instead of observing Holidays, they celebrate the changing seasons so any child with any belief or tradition, can participate equally. All children are welcome here with programs to meet their needs. Hot breakfast is free for all & free lunches for those in need. The calendar is full of fun activities like Pajama Day, Movie Night, Art Night, Reading Night, etc. The modo is to help all kids feel successful at their unique potential...and to always try your best. My son was very stressed about going to school, but he has forgot about that, and has settled in nicely. I'm so happy we did not overlook this school. read more
