I felt comfortable asking questions, she went over anything I was nervous about (birth plan, and nursing with your newborn) until I felt more confident. Kelly made sure I understood all the information, and made it easy to digest. She had helpful suggestions for new mothers and fathers that truly made the process for my partner and I much smoother. Her classes are amazing! I also had several Reiki clearing sessions with her and she helped clear away things I didn't realize where there, that were directly affecting my emotions and thoughts. She is a master teacher, Healer, and a wonderful human being, if you feel called to work with Kelly, definitely go with your instincts and be open to the wealth of knowledge, skills, healing abilities and clarity she has to offer. I am most grateful to have crossed paths with Kelly!

I write this review as a very proud momma. She wouldn't be where she is today, academically, intellectually, and socially if it wasn't for the hard working and dedicated teachers at Children's Choice. This school is the best thing that could have happened for our family.

My son was first ready for enrollment months ago (with indication of refundable deposit) -- his enrollment was botched and switched among multiple locations. I told the company I wanted my son to choose the school (with FULL confirmation from the owner a deposit would be refundable if he did not like the school and instructors). Aside from my own intuition to not enroll him, I went ahead. Days-prior, we experienced a COVID scare and I disenrolled him. Upon resurgence of COVID (and upon my son's request), I disenrolled him after giving it a few days. We received a total of less than one week of instruction for $750. Tell me if you think this sounds ethical. Not only have other parents discussed similar issues with this school, but staff has as well. I would not recommend this school for anyone interested in a true Montessori school interested in community and consistent with policy.

I cannot say enough good and wonderful things about Marieke…read more I have been a musical theatre, singer, and voice over actor for over 10 years. I have taken lessons. Gone to school. Private instructions. Done all that. Marieke is the only one that has helped me with break issues and learning how to bridge the gaps in my voice. She uses the Alexander Technique, and tries to pinpoint WHY we're having problems performing, rather than band-aiding it. She takes the time to LEARN you, how you think, how you perform, how you're holding yourself back, and how we can get to where we wanna go. You HAVE to commit some time, and obviously funds, but I think if you're committed to your passion, she is the best investment you can make in yourself. I feel so lucky to be under her instruction.

I've been a professional singer for many years, performed nationally and internationally and have…read morestudied with various voice teachers over the years, each with very different styles/techniques. Marieke Schuurs (Cantare Voice Studio) is the most professional instructor I have ever worked with and also the most generous spirit. I've had teachers who were really just frustrated vocalists ("those who can't do teach"), and I've had teachers who guarded their techniques as if they alone held the key to musical fame ("no recorders allowed, you might go sell my secret"). In those cases the lessons were more about the teacher than the student. Marieke is the exact opposite. She encourages you to record each lesson and re-listen to it, practice with it between lessons. She customizes each lesson, identifying exactly what your body and voice are struggling with that day. There's nothing "cookie-cutter" or mass-produced about her technique. She is incredibly perceptive and can fine-tune tiny elements of your posture, breathing or pronunciation to release the voice you always knew you had in there but didn't know how to make it come out. She also continues to train her own voice, knowing that there is always more to learn and that even the most professional musician can always continue to hone their craft. If you're a beginning singer who can barely hold a note, she's the perfect teacher to start with ... avoid years of struggle by learning good technique early. If you're a seasoned professional, she can enhance what you already do well, help break any bad habits you may have developed and take some of the "work" out of it, releasing rich effortless tone. If you're serious about singing and want to get as good as you can be, take advantage of the opportunity to study with Marieke. She's nurturing, encouraging and delivers results.
