Kindercare - Chambers Street, Eugene, Oregon…read more At its core, Kindercare is a great concept for what childcare should look like. I really appreciate the app, which allows parents to receive updates, pictures, and messages about their child's day. It helps me feel more connected to my children and reassured while I'm away from them. I also appreciate the fun events and age-appropriate curriculum Kindercare provides. Unfortunately, my experience at the Chambers Street location in Eugene has been very different from what I believe Kindercare is capable of providing. In my opinion, this location needs significant changes in staffing, leadership, and the way certain situations involving children and parents are handled. My biggest concern has been the leadership. I have had several experiences with the director, Naz, that have left me feeling that communication and professionalism are inconsistent, and that she can be unprofessional and unpleasant in her interactions. I have also personally witnessed interactions that concerned me regarding how children are spoken to and treated, particularly when parents are not immediately present. I have heard similar concerns from other children, although I recognize that children's accounts should be taken seriously but also carefully evaluated. I have also experienced repeated situations where I was asked to pick up my child because of staffing or classroom-capacity issues. This has happened often enough that it has caused problems with my employment and made reliable childcare extremely difficult. Parents should be able to have confidence that their childcare arrangements will remain dependable unless there is a legitimate emergency or safety concern. Another issue I have noticed is inconsistency in how children are disciplined. There have been situations where children appeared to receive different consequences for similar behavior, which can feel unfair and confusing to both children and parents. I have also seen children being sent to sit in the director's office as a form of discipline. I believe the center should review whether its disciplinary practices are age-appropriate, consistent, and focused on helping children learn and regulate their behavior. I want to emphasize that many of the teachers and staff members are genuinely wonderful. My concern is not that everyone working there is doing a poor job. In fact, I believe many employees are doing their best in a difficult environment. The larger issue appears to be staffing levels and the amount of attention each child can realistically receive. In the older children's classrooms, I have seen children attempt to get an adult's attention when they are being bullied or picked on and not receive timely attention. In the infant and toddler rooms, I have also witnessed situations where multiple children were crying for extended periods while staff appeared overwhelmed and unable to respond to everyone. I have seen babies wanting to be held or comforted and toddlers needing attention or diaper changes while staff were occupied with other children. I understand that childcare can be extremely demanding and that staff members cannot immediately respond to every child every second. However, when an entire classroom appears overwhelmed, I believe that is a staffing and management issue that needs to be addressed. I truly believe Kindercare has the potential to provide excellent childcare, and many of the employees at this location clearly care about the children. However, the Chambers Street location needs meaningful changes. I would strongly encourage Kindercare management to review staffing ratios, classroom supervision, disciplinary practices, parent communication, and the leadership at this location. Most importantly, parents need to feel confident that their children are safe, heard, cared for, and treated fairly when they are not there to advocate for them. That should be the highest priority of any childcare center.

She attended this school at age 2 and left shortly before her 4th birthday. During that time she learned how to use a toilet, button and zip her clothes, crack and peel eggs, and how to interact with other children her age and older. She loved going to school in the morning! They were very supportive of her independence and strength. I spent most of my days hearing, "No momma, I do it!" They allowed her to thrive and build on the confidence within herself. She was able to work without being interrupted which allowed her to concentrate for long periods of time on any task that was put in front of her. These teachers worked so hard to lay the foundation for a strong and thoughtful young lady. My heart is full and my experience here is something that I hope every family has the pleasure of enjoying.

Both of my sons attended those school run by Carla, and for the first year everything seemed ok,…read moreuntil my boys were moved to this 5th street location in Springfield, OR where the teachers treated me like subhuman... the reason for this treatment I was told was because I picked the boys up a little early on day and the next time I came to the school, the director Sara, was very rude to me because the boys mother who is close friends with one of the teachers had called and complained and so she was negative right off the bat and insisted that I wait outside the building, I chose not to respond to her blatant diaper spect and went outside, when I can back in after waiting 14 min, she asked me if I had read the parents handbook and I told her I had, she then shoved a highlighted copy of the handbook in my face with my youngest son right next to her, demanding I take it before she would release my son. I have never been treated so badly by a teacher in my life... there is no excuse for Sara the director of this location to have treated me like that. In short, it was just this 5th street location that I had these issues with, and it ALL stemmed from April Kays biased opinions being unprofessionally gossiped to Sara the director, which influenced her reactions and decisions in this matter... even worse is that I called Carla the director about these transgressions and she did absolutely nothing about it, stating that she didn't think her teachers were sharing personal info about parents between each other and that in NO way effected Sara's reaction.... it's no coincidence that before being moved to this location where April Kay works, there wasn't ANY problems with me, in fact I took time and money out of my pocket to volunteer at their 10th street location to upgrade the play pits with more pea gravel. I thought Carla would be a smarter and a more compassionate owner, she has proved to me that she is not willing to address this in a way that questions her employees personal and social ties outside of the workplace and how that might effect the decision making process. I will be trying my hardest to get my son out of her schools, I would NOT recommend these schools to Anyone, your kids deserve way better than her "schools" offer. PS. her schools are basically old trailer homes converted into a school.... not the safest environment for kids.

When we first brought our son to this daycare, we were so happy. Our son loved it there but sadly…read moredue to the Cristy and her husband Shawn with how they treated us and talked gossip about other families is not a professional place. I've walked in several times of Shawn yelling at his own kids in front of the daycare children and myself as a daycare parent. In the last couple months it has gone down hill with their attitude. They made a big deal about a payment issue and raising the price for some families and lowering the price for others when I brought it up, we had no problem paying the difference but wanted to make sure they were being fair and not having other families cover the extra cost of other families. Cristy had brought it up when I drop my son off the next following daycare day, her husband Shawn was so disrespectful and started yelling at me and after that moment I didn't trust him around any kid. Cristy continued to leave the children unattended in his care while he is not certified to be allow with the children. He is only registered to help while she is there with him. When we mentioned that, we continued to be treated poorly again. Cristy had ask us to provide a two week notice before we decided to leave the childcare, but picking my son up Cristy had handed me a termination notices claiming I had brought my son to daycare sick when he has allergies. Don't trust this daycare because they will cancel care and not provide a refund and take away from families. They are not the christians they claim to be. If I knew this is how they run their business, I would have went to another daycare. Beware they act all friendly but they are horrible people and will tell the other families your business. They try to have family members and their own children make reviews to cover up the truth about what is going on in their home. Cristy had a infant that was scared at the daycare, the child would cry if she walked away. Instead of her trying to help the child adapt to the new surroundings, she had told me she had to let that child go because they baby had cried so bad and had not took a breath when she walked away and ignored the baby. When she finally returned, they baby was purple!!! BEWARE if you are thinking of taking your child here!! Always ask your child how their day was if you are currently with this daycare. I will speak the truth so families are aware of what goes on when you leave your child in their care!
