In the two years my sons have been with her, their social skills, creativity, and knowledge have blossomed in ways that anonymous, big-name childcare centers never would have been able to foster. My five-year-old loves reading and my three-year-old can name plants and insects I didn't know existed. They know the water cycle, the life cycle of frogs, and how tomatoes grow, all because of time spent with Stacy and her skilled, excellent staff. They play outside, learn how to tumble, use sign language with their pre-verbal "school" mates, and care for animals in a safe, loving home. I'm moving to Portland; if I could bring Stacy with me as my nanny, I would. I don't know how I'm going to find anyone even half as amazing as she has been.

They deal with conflicts appropriately and use them as learning opportunities to continue to educate children in socio-emotional development. My son loved going here every day and has learned so much in every subject there is. The teachers pay close attention to each child's development and interests and form the classrooms around what the children currently are into. This school is only one of the three centers in Lane County that is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and rated 5 stars by Oregon's Quality Rating and Improvement System, and it shows! I've walked in several times of Shawn yelling at his own kids in front of the daycare children and myself as a daycare parent. In the last couple months it has gone down hill with their attitude. They made a big deal about a payment issue and raising the price for some families and lowering the price for others when I brought it up, we had no problem paying the difference but wanted to make sure they were being fair and not having other families cover the extra cost of other families. Cristy had brought it up when I drop my son off the next following daycare day, her husband Shawn was so disrespectful and started yelling at me and after that moment I didn't trust him around any kid. Cristy continued to leave the children unattended in his care while he is not certified to be allow with the children. He is only registered to help while she is there with him. When we mentioned that, we continued to be treated poorly again. Cristy had ask us to provide a two week notice before we decided to leave the childcare, but picking my son up Cristy had handed me a termination notices claiming I had brought my son to daycare sick when he has allergies. Don't trust this daycare because they will cancel care and not provide a refund and take away from families. They are not the christians they claim to be. If I knew this is how they run their business, I would have went to another daycare. Beware they act all friendly but they are horrible people and will tell the other families your business. They try to have family members and their own children make reviews to cover up the truth about what is going on in their home. Cristy had a infant that was scared at the daycare, the child would cry if she walked away. Instead of her trying to help the child adapt to the new surroundings, she had told me she had to let that child go because they baby had cried so bad and had not took a breath when she walked away and ignored the baby. When she finally returned, they baby was purple!!! BEWARE if you are thinking of taking your child here!! Always ask your child how their day was if you are currently with this daycare. I will speak the truth so families are aware of what goes on when you leave your child in their care!

I am saddened to say that this YMCA no longer prioritizes protecting the youth in its care, nor the staff they employ. Their new facility was poorly built and threw them into not only debt, but an urgency to make money back above all else. They throw people under the bus to protect the "organization" and no longer prioritize people over profit. Disappointed that it has strayed so far from a place of community. I would not recommend a membership here, and would especially not recommend you work here or enroll your children.
