I've walked in several times of Shawn yelling at his own kids in front of the daycare children and myself as a daycare parent. In the last couple months it has gone down hill with their attitude. They made a big deal about a payment issue and raising the price for some families and lowering the price for others when I brought it up, we had no problem paying the difference but wanted to make sure they were being fair and not having other families cover the extra cost of other families. Cristy had brought it up when I drop my son off the next following daycare day, her husband Shawn was so disrespectful and started yelling at me and after that moment I didn't trust him around any kid. Cristy continued to leave the children unattended in his care while he is not certified to be allow with the children. He is only registered to help while she is there with him. When we mentioned that, we continued to be treated poorly again. Cristy had ask us to provide a two week notice before we decided to leave the childcare, but picking my son up Cristy had handed me a termination notices claiming I had brought my son to daycare sick when he has allergies. Don't trust this daycare because they will cancel care and not provide a refund and take away from families. They are not the christians they claim to be. If I knew this is how they run their business, I would have went to another daycare. Beware they act all friendly but they are horrible people and will tell the other families your business. They try to have family members and their own children make reviews to cover up the truth about what is going on in their home. Cristy had a infant that was scared at the daycare, the child would cry if she walked away. Instead of her trying to help the child adapt to the new surroundings, she had told me she had to let that child go because they baby had cried so bad and had not took a breath when she walked away and ignored the baby. When she finally returned, they baby was purple!!! BEWARE if you are thinking of taking your child here!! Always ask your child how their day was if you are currently with this daycare. I will speak the truth so families are aware of what goes on when you leave your child in their care!

They deal with conflicts appropriately and use them as learning opportunities to continue to educate children in socio-emotional development. My son loved going here every day and has learned so much in every subject there is. The teachers pay close attention to each child's development and interests and form the classrooms around what the children currently are into. This school is only one of the three centers in Lane County that is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and rated 5 stars by Oregon's Quality Rating and Improvement System, and it shows! My daughter attended NDS for four months, during their summer program and the first six weeks of…read morefirst grade. I believe that the teachers at the school are passionate and truly want to teach kids and love the ones that are at the school. However, I feel that due to the way the school is structured, there is an utter lack of continuity and communication between the staff. Very little communication happens between any of them. On three different occasions I had to have a family member or babysitter pick up my child. Every time I told her teacher assuming she could pass the information to the pertinent people, every time the aftercare provider both did not know and really didn't care who was picking up my kid. In the morning before school starts there is only one person watching the kids and it is utter chaos. Children are running around in a hallway, the lunchroom and in another room. Unless you seek out the person in charge of them all, she would have absolutely no idea who was there or not. There are way too many kids for one person to watch. I find this to be true after school as well. There is only one phone for the whole school, which is in the preschool room, it gets monitored by the owner and teacher of preschool kids when he can check the phone. If you have an emergency or need to talk to them right away, your best bet is to go down there. Field trips are a mess. Aside from myself having issues with the two that happened while my daughter went to school there, I know several other parents who don't allow their kids to go unless they can go as well. Overall I find the education program is probably decent and the small class size cap is obviously a bonus. The price is much much lower than what you would pay at other private schools in town as well, but now I think you get what you pay for. I believe that there is a lot of possibility for the school if NDS would get a bit more organized. For my family, the safety concerns at the school outweighed the much reduced cost of their program and we ended up going to another school that costs twice as much and getting twice as much for our money.

The quality of care is the highest I've seen at any preschool (we've tried four others in the area), and my kids have been there for the past two years. There are always at least two teachers in the room with the kids. They offer nutritious snacks, and are sensitive to food allergies. There is a lot of outdoor play time, even in foul weather because they have a covered place for the kids to play. The kids learn lots of songs, social-emotional skills, and academic skills.
