Normally I don't write reviews like this but I'm compelled to write this because everyday I look at my nails and it's a constant reminder of the damage that was done by Kerri. This salon was my regular salon, and before the new owners took over, I really enjoyed coming here. This past December, my usual nail tech was unavailable so I saw Kerri for a gel manicure. From the moment I walked in it was a disaster. She panicked and said out loud that I was 15 mins early to my appt and she was running behind. I assured her that it was no rush, I came from work. If you could see anxiety and stress as a cloud around a person, she was the epitome of it and right away it made me uncomfortable. When it was my turn, she was very quiet when she normally is talkative and pleasant - i even initiated conversation to give her an opening to maybe vent. She was working unprofessionally quick and aggressively, which upsets me because I value nail health and handling my thick nails with care. When filing my nails, she actually jerked my finger so hard and aggressively at the joint that I yelped in pain. I'm never one to complain, even if my nails are filed crooked. When it came to painting my nails, she was almost done, and the top coat she used destroyed the work she did which required her to redo my nails, filing off ALL the polish. which again she did aggressively and it really thinned my nails. As she was doing so, she (right in front of me) was aggressively saying to the owner how she wants to go home and how tired she is. I was extremely uncomfortable. At the end of the day, my nails were done but the experience was awful. I decided I would never go back. I went to a new place a few weeks later to have my nails done and they were stained a horrible highlighter yellow color and so badly damaged from all the filling she did to removed the polish. It is now almost the end of march.... It's been three months and the yellow and damage is still here, still growing out. read more

I went here a few days ago and I was very disappointed in the outcome of my nails I went in with a friend specifically so I can hang out with her and talk while getting her nails done together and they separated us and when I asked to be sitted with her she said no in a very rude tone despite that while I was getting my nails done she started eating which was VERY unprofessional and my nails took forever just for regular manicure and the nail polish didn't even last that long and maybe lasted a day or two highly disappointed in this place 3/10 would not recommend read more

Honestly not sure why this place doesn't have better ratings considering I had a great experience. I went here after work one day because my cuticles were destroyed so I decided to make the most of it and do a manicure and pedicure. For just basic nail polish, my nails lasted more than a week. I called at 6:45pm to confirm it wasn't to late to get a gel manicure. I was told they weren't closing until 7:30. I got there at 6:56pm...and everyone looked annoyed. My manicure was rushed...my nail technician handled my hands in an aggressive manner. He was moving so fast he messed up and when I showed him the line of demarcation he got upset. My gel manicured came out sloppy which is unfortunate because I like the color. We finished at 7:32 and I got to the door and no one said goodbye. This is the ONLY nail salon I will go to. It's recently been taken over by a super nice woman, and the whole vibe of the place is great. They've recently updated everything - it's clean, bright, and it's not an understatement when I say that CeCe gives such a great pedicure that I no longer have to go to a podiatrist for my painful ingrown toenails. My first time in the nail salon, I got a pedicure and a color change on my hands. Everyone was professional and skilled. I had a lovely time sitting in the spa massage chair. The pedicure is reasonably priced and included a foot and leg massage. While my nails were drying, I even got a free shoulder rub. Many people in the salon were on a first name basis with the staff. Clearly this salon has a lot of regulars. When I left they said, "See you next time." And they surely will. I have been going to this place for years ... each time leaving more disappointed than the last- I had a gel manicure done two weeks ago and needed it off. I went in just asking to have this done and I was told that it would be $5. The woman said "your nails will need a manicure" "just do clear or a light color, ok". I agreed to a clear manicure, as I don't usually get gel... What a Sucker After the sweet girl who removed my gel was done, the boss lady booted her out of the seat and asked me to move to another station occupied by a new young man- this unfriendly manicure stealer continued the process. As he put a squirt of cheap lotion on my arms, and began prepping my nails,.. I changed my mind about getting any polish- figuring I'd let my nails breathe, and they talked my out of my original plan! You would have thought I killed someone by the look on their faces. After discussing my nerve in Korean, ...They said it would be $15 because they gave me a manicure! I held out my unpainted nails and untouched cuticles and said "what manicure" and was told that Polish doesn't make it a manicure and that my nails were still prepared for polish??? Peter did an amazing job they were patient with me. When I first walked in wanted crome than gel than SNS. They were patient with me didnt feel rushed like I did at the other shop down the block. Previously I had gotten my toes done somewhere else but didnt like service so I said hell nah I aint gonna get my nails done here. I am very impressed with my first trip to this salon today. First impression-there was no wait-I was greeted and seated within the first 30 seconds. Everyone was very kind and they were very patient with me while I tried to decide on my color. I got a UV gel set that surprisingly took no time at all. Most salons I've been to will take over an hour and a half. My whole set took about 40 min. I want to upload the pictures of my nails because I'm so incredibly happy with everything. I went with a lilac color with the chrome on top, which turned out better than I could have imagined. Highly recommend!!! read more

I just don't care for this salon. The problem is the staff - It's the great divide. They have a group of Spanish speaking women and a group of Asian speaking woman. (Pardon me, if i am not being politically correct ) who have separate agendas. If you pay attention to the dynamics, it can get very uncomfortable. The last time I was here, I was disappointed with my pedicure and the two groups started battling it out. Never again! There are so many other choices in Merrick. I don't have the patience for this nonsense and parking is just awful! read more

My daughter and I recently went there for a manicure and pedicure. I must say we were disappointed. My pedicure was not great. It was super quick and the man was just going through the motions. Usually when I go somewhere for a pedicure, my feet feel great but not this time. He scrubbed the bottom of my feet for literally 20 seconds and the foot massage was about one minute per foot. It was a very short pedicure. To make matters worse, it chipped quickly. My daughter got a gel manicure that was also very fast and chipped in under a week. They took me late for my appointment, then the nail tech (Emi) took many phone calls and looked around while working on me. She was so careless that she nicked me with the drill causing several injuries and gave me a set of crooked thick nails with bubbles. When I complained she claimed I had crooked fingers! This salon is very clean and they give great manicures and pedicures. Also they do massages, facials and waxing. Mostly women but they do have some male regulars and male staff. The staff greets you with a smile the moment you step in the door, they answer questions about products and services clearly and politely, and they do work hard to do a good job. I have seen them literally bend their backs and really put in physical effort to give clients good massages. They also take great care to make sure your nails are truly dry and protected from getting messed up or broken prior to you leaving, since they put care into what they just did for you. I appreciate the work ethic and so I always thank them. There are lots of local regulars at this salon and they are almost always busy and crowded so an appointment is recommended especially on weekends. Even with an appointment walk ins are frequent and there may be a wait so come in a little bit ahead of the appointment time. I agree that time management is an issue. The prices are on the higher end however they do a good job. They do have a bonus program for regulars... if you come in a certain number of times the next one is free. You can also buy your own tools for hygienic reasons if you prefer. This is common in many nail salons. They do always try to sell you more expensive products, because after all, its a business. I just say no thanks and then everyone moves on. They ask every time, and that is just them trying to make a sale not trying to harass me. I note that when people do spend lots of money there, or if you were just a nice customer but only got the basic mani pedi, they do give the client extras. For example a lavender pedicure or a hot stone leg massage, or a neck and back rub will be issued unexpectedly and free of charge. I once got a free full 30 minute back massage while I waited for my nails to dry. They remind you before leaving what you can do to maintain your nail work especially if for example you got gel or extensions for the first time. If you are a regular customer who treats staff with mutual human respect and tips appropriately they will truly bend over backwards for you. They recognize your face and your child's or relative's face if you become a regular and they always talk with you, laugh about things on the TV at the salon, try to get to know you, which is nice. The entire staff speaks clear English and understands it well. No one has to translate at all and they Q&A in proper English although it may be with an accent. I speak Spanish (and do not look like I do, nor have I ever spoken it at the salon) and most of the comments I hear the staff making are shop talk and passing conversation between coworkers not gossip about customers or problems with the Korean management. I have not seen any negative dynamic between the Hispanics and Koreans at this business other than occasional disagreements or work stresses that occur on any job. I have seen that they do deal sometimes with very biased, difficult customers or their misbehaved and rude kids and so they do sometimes complain in another language with the customer there which I agree is bad business practice. No matter how difficult the situation they should be professionals. It comes with dealing with the public. I always go with my teen. When I first brought her they asked her age because they do have a lower price for kids under 12 like most other businesses in the area. They did not try to sell her anything or do anything she asked beyond the initial agreement without clearing it with me first. Some salons will cajole or pit mom against kid to make a sale but they were honest and respected that I was both the parent and the paying client. I have seen that some teens come in and ask for a certain color or tips and they do it then the mom calls or comes by and complains so I do think they prefer a parent to be there with a minor. Also sometimes little kids do not behave in the salon and mom is busy getting her pedi and I can see how that would be nerve wracking to both the business owner and the other clients. I would say that I have never been dissatisfied. I am a regular now and look forward to coming by. Olga is awesome with massage and pedicure and the manager usually does my manicure and does an awesome job. When my teen comes in with someone other than me they now know she is my kid, they ask for me, and treat her and whoever she is with like princesses. If something breaks they have fixed it for free or minimal charge even if it was not their fault... my teens wrap got ruined in gym class and they fixed it free, only charged for a color change. Other than better time management and being more patient with difficult customers, I would say the waxing services are not that great. For the price they should do better. Most clients do not really go there for waxing or facials. If anyone has gotten a facial there I would love to know how it went. read more

I really love this nail salon. I Have visited several other nail salon and will definitely say this is one of the best. The prices are pretty reasonable but the service is exceptional.
