The solar panels were removed by a licensed contractor. The crew who did the roof repair work were completely professional. Totally prepared for the job. After the work was completed, you could not tell anyone had been there except for the professional workmanship and appearance of the new roof. Their pricing fair and competitive. Artisan removed my 30 year old roof, replaced any rotten plywood, and installed the new one. Tearing off an old roof can be a messy job but their workers left my property in pristine condition. Other than a beautiful new roof one would not know they had been at my home. Their salesman Justin was not pushy. He was thorough, and made a professional presentation, addressing each aspect of the job. As an older customer I valued the explanation of the job. We replaced our roof 3 years ago and we had a leak with Th e new roof. Called Artisan and was told that it wasn't under warranty (even they said 10 years). The quote another $12000 to fix the problem. We found someone else to fix it for $2000. 3 years later we got fined by the town because they never finalized with Th e paperwork to closed the permit. We had Tando Stone Composite siding and lights installed on our home. We have lived there for 46 years. Chris and Billie employed with Artisan did a beautiful job. No complaints and all our questions and concerns during the remolding process were answered and acted upon with no hesitations. My wife and I married for 61 years highly recommend Artisan Building and Remodeling. This was the second job that they have done at our home. Tando Stone composite siding and light were installed on our home in Windsor CT. I downgraded my original 5-star rating to 2 because of the final charges for work and material that were never done and estimated to be $1000.00 of the total cost of $8200.00. I ended up paying a reduced price of $200.00. I felt that $500.00 - $750.00 would have been a much fairer discount. They revised the second payment of the original contract to say the amount is TBD which I signed. I took it to have meant that both parties had to agree on the final payment, not just the seller. read more

Our experience with Artisan went south very quickly. A representative contacted me after I filled out the online request form and Michael came to assess my roof later that week. The consult was just under 2 hours long and included a presentation with unnecessary information and him taking 90 photos of my property but none of the damage our roof had sustained, which I pointed out to him multiple times. His sample materials left significant scratches and marks on my kitchen table. He repeatedly asked when my husband (whom he referred to as the "homeowner") would be home. He wanted me to sign a contract that day, said they would go through insurance and get our roof completely paid for due to storm damage. He said his boss was on vacation and he did not know when he was returning, but that the price would increase once he was back. I said I would contact him after I reviewed the quote and once I had made a decision. He called, texted and emailed repeatedly for three days following the consult, even though I continued to say I would contact him when ready. He sent me a very general/non-specific report with an updated estimate, which was the same as the original.. He texted me and asked when I would be giving him an answer. My husband called him about the quote to get clarification and to ask him to stop calling/texting me. He purposely hung up on my husband twice, forwarded his calls to voicemail and made incredibly rude and unprofessional comments. He insinuated to my husband that I was not the homeowner because I am a woman and he needed both of us to be home for the consult (this was the first time we had heard of this). He sent me a text telling me to delete his contact information, throw away his company's material and have a nice day. The text was unnecessary since I had already made the decision that we would not consider using this company or referring them to anyone. The wildly unprofessional behavior and treatment was appalling, and we will be taking our business elsewhere, to one of the other three locally owned small businesses that handle roofing in a much more professional manner and provided us with specific line-by-line cost estimates. None of these companies have reached out to us, let alone harassed us with repeated contact. It is clear that Michael, despite claiming to have done this job for 10 years, has a lot to learn about salesmanship and that Artisan Building & Remodeling should invest in customer service training, estimate/mathematical support and guidance on report generating. read more

The roof repair was scheduled, we had to change the date - no problem, and the old roof was removed, additional plywood was needed, and the new roof was on all in one day. Bad experience with Artisan Builder Roofing. There were two things that I asked for assurance on. 1) someone in charge always available that speaks English 2) tarps on my driveway near the house to catch nails I made the mistake of not writing that into the contract. First day. Team appears at 7 am - no leader on site that speaks english. I call to ask where is he and told he is in his way. He shows up at 9:30. I reiterate that nails are a big concern, he tells me no problem. Then he is only there for a short period of time. Next day - no leader - no tarps! I call the office and they said they would speak to the team. Still no tarps. I finally get through to site manager and he rudely says. "I've told you three times there are no nails!" I explained to him that I just stepped on one that went right through my shoe ! And I'm staring at a bunch of them. I called the office and asked for a new manager. Meanwhile still no tarps. I downloaded a translator app and tried to talk to one of the workers in Spanish. I was very polite, asked if he could put down some tarps. He understood me, but gave me a defiant look, and just went back to work. I put down the one tarp I had. No tarps appear until the new site manager shows up at 2:30! I should have also stipulated in the contract that no work starts until the site manager is on site. (#3) On top of that, they underestimated the amount of plywood so I had to pay 10% extra! My attic BTW is now a disaster. A professional company would have known that and put down tarp in the attic and cleaned it up afterwards. Now I have to pay people to help me clean that up. The team did work hard and pictures were taken to show me what they did. Keeping my fingers crossed that the new roof holds up. BTW, I had my guests who visited that weekend park at the church next door. We spent an hour combing my gravel driveway and here are the nails we found (see picture). read more
