So be patient and leave a message, he'll get back to you. He came out to give me an estimate the same day I called and was on time. I felt his quote for the removal of 2 large trees with stump removal and 3 bushes in my front yard was pretty reasonable. Matt and his crew also came out on time to my property to cut down the trees. He has his own equipment to do the job and completed it all on the same day as well. All and all, he was very professional and made sure everything was cleaned up before he left my property. Found this company through family as he came and saved a cat from a tree. Decided to hire him for quite a few trees we need taken out. The first one was supposed to come down yesterday, got a call that he would be here at 8:30am today instead. Today is here and he rolls up 30 minutes late and says his back hurts already looking at it and that it's a big tree. Ok well we've been waiting and you said you'd handle it no prob so let's get it done. He and his two employees proceed to spend an hour sharpening chainsaws, thinking maybe that should've been done before the job 9:45am he tells us he can take the tree down but he cannot haul it out despite that being the deal. We get a land clearing company out within 30 minutes; that company agrees they can get it all out this weekend and to just get it on the ground. So tree-man comes down in price $1,000 due to the fact he can't complete the job and we have to pay another company to haul away the tree. It's now 10:45-he lets us know he has gone down the street for lunch. Asked for a copy of his insurance policy, no reply. 11:45-12:30 multiple texts sent; no replies. We gave him numerous opportunities yet he flaked without even a response while we sat at home and waited for him to return. Sure he'll save your kitten out of a tree but don't expect any actual work to be done. read more

I am sad to say I have been using Matt for 6yrs. He had always done a fantastic job. However, I had him out to give an estimate. We agreed on a price, set up a date to have job done. Then I received a text saying that he under bid the job and now wanted double the price. I told him I couldn't afford the new price. So we agreed that he would do half the work for prior agreed price again we set the day for work to start. He never showed up, never canceled. I sent multiple text. He finally answered and said he couldn't do it for that price. I think it's really sad he didn't honor the quote he gave. The worst thing is just not showing up for a job. read more

I have to give Matt and crew 5 stars. I had about 10 large pine trees that succumbed to the beetle problem here on my disc golf course in the foothills and have had a few folks come out to take a look...none were very interested in the job for some reason. I was referred to Matt by a buddy who has done some work with him so I gave him a call and received a call back soon thereafter. I described the situation and he had no hesitation in setting an appointment for that same day to bid the job, even though he had to drive up here an hour away AND it was Memorial Day. After a tough negotiation, we decided on a price and he and a 4 or 5 man crew were here that same week. There were some slight modifications to the agreement we had to re-negotiate day of but no big deal. They completed the job before dark, ground up all the trees into mulch, left some and hauled some away per agreement. I gave him and all the employees a tip for such a good performance. I'm sure the beetles will bring him back some day. read more

My kitten got stuck in our very tall liquidambar tree (70ft) in our backyard and was stuck up there all night. The fire department had come earlier that morning and said if she came down lower they might be able to get her (nice/s), she had climbed all the way to the top in a span of 24 hours. Matt was up the tree and had her within 20 minutes. He was so sweet to her, and I could tell he really wanted to help! If this ever ever happens to us again, I'll call him as soon as she goes up. I recommend you do a background check before thinking of hiring this company to come on to your property. My neighbor actually hired these guys to remove about 10 Texas Privets which the trees were located on my side of the fence, In the process of removing the trees, this company managed to break FOUR sprinklers, bust TWO pvc pipes, break branches off my cherry blossom (damaged while bringing down the privet trees). I had a Major job. 5 large trees, 1 medium, and 3-5 stumps. The trees were not watered well for decades, and the roots were everywhere in the lawn. Matt and his team did exceptional work! They had to remove some fence to access the back yard, and replaced it like original. They were meticulous about cleaning up all the debris, and removed all the extra chips and leaves. I couldn't find any attached roots, and there thousands of feet before they started. They left the soil ready for me to till in topsoil and lay new sod. Had a 25 ft tall Chinese Elm tree come down in the Oct 21 'Bomb cyclone.' I called around and in 24 hours had 5 quotes ranging from $750 to $3,500 with lead times of up to 2 months. Matt came by that day, and had a very competitive bid for next day service. I said "go" the next morning, and all was gone and cleaned up by the end of the day. Remarkable service. Apologized for arriving 5 minutes late - can't remember the last time any service person was so prompt and courteous. Had all the necessary tools, chippers, etc. and a crew of three. Covered our huge pool with a tarp to ensure no mess. Did an amazing job of trimming hard to reach branches on a number of large bushes that a neighbor had let grow wild for years. We can see the sun again from our pool. Despite removing a lot of growth did so very selectively - more an arborist than a "hacker." Responded to requests to do a couple of small additional areas with a "no problem." Absolutely the best we have ever used - highly recommend. read more

Subsequently, it was extremely difficult to get Matt to return calls and when he did finally do so, he would schedule an appointment and not show up. As a result of several no shows and his inability to return calls or texts, I have finally decided to find a more reliable person / company to do the job. Needed to remove 9 40ft plus White Birch trees in my backyard. Lot of concern as there is little room, fences, swimming pool, redwoods all in the way. Matt gave me a very reasonable quote and took time to really understand what was needed. He showed up on time, got right to work, and was safety minded. Job was done on time, and instead of having all of it hauled away we agreed to his team cutting 16" length firewood and stacking it for me. At the end of the job the pool and yard was all cleaned of all debris. Could not be more pleased with the job and the cost. Great tree trimming service. We have a very large tree in our front yard that needed some serious trimming, as the wind kept breaking off large branches. It was less than 30 seconds into our conversation, when I asked what the name of his company was, and again asked about the "All Tree" after Artisan. I was having a hard time understanding what he was saying on the phone. I'm glad I will not be working with an owner as impatient as this. In an industry categorized, "the deadliest civilian occupation in the world" per 100,000 workers, communication is a key element to performing the job safely. A person unwilling to clarify the name of their company to a potential new employee, is likely unwilling to communicate well in stressful situations on the job.
