A couple weeks ago we were stranded at the Denver Airport and we were chatting with other passengers waiting for the plane. We got to talking about where we live and restaurants, and this nice guys Josh mentioned Artisan 179 is a great place with amazing food. Flash forward a couple weeks and we are looking for a place for our grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary and we remembered Josh saying it was so good. So we called for a reservation for 10 and they were happy to work with us. We got this great little alcove so we felt like the party was intimate while still being able to hear the live music. It literally could not have been better! The service was excellent. The food was exceptional and the atmosphere was sophisticated without being stuffy. We happened to be in the area and didn't know where to get lunch. I found this place on Yelp. It was fantastic! We had the scallops mushroom soup and berry salad with salmon. The waitress, Paris was very friendly and did a great job. I will make it a point to visit again. read more

Food - Everything I tried was very good. The plates are thoughtfully put together, the ingredients were very high quality and the portion sizes were perfect. I would strongly recommend the Sausage Arancini small plate for an appetizer or even a small meal. Service - I made reservations online though yelp, and everything worked really well, even though we showed up a bit early. All of the servers and people we interacted with seemed to not only know the menu and history of the restaurant but also to be very proud of it. There was a mistake with one of our orders, but it was immediately taken care of without any delay or issue. Atmosphere - The dining area was cool (on a very hot day across from the beach), well lit and quiet enough that conversations were very easy. Craft cocktails were tasty, however not worth the wait of 30 minutes per drink and absent condescending waitress for the price. We were ready to walk out the door when another waiter came and grabbed a new drink order . He was friendly and added comedic relief to a frustrating experience . It's sad to see such poor service in such a great location with outdoor sea ***update I recently sat at the bar and was served by the waiter who was our knight in shining armor during our last visit. Not only did he remember our group but remembered our drink order as well. I will absolutely go back and request service from Phillip, who makes the experience pleasurable! Summary: Exceptional wine, each food dish was fantastic, and great service. A great meal. My wife and I weren't in the mood for anything too pricey or fancy, but we stopped in to look at the menu (my wife is a vegetarian). The owner was by the front door and told my wife he could do a number of diff options for her that would be vegetarian, "we can take care of you". We decided to stay and maybe a glass of wine and maybe a couple of appetizers. I asked the waitress to recommend a Pinot Noir for my wife and something a bit heartier for me. She brought out two great glasses of wine (Oregon Pinot and Prisoner Cab). They were excellent. The Brussel sprouts appetizer (chorizo on the side for me), was fantastic. I could just eat this all night. The salmon entree was absolutely perfect, and my wife loved her flatbread appetizer (can't remember the name) as her entree. Service was perfect; honestly everything was perfect. The views don't hurt and we have some fun patrons sitting next to our table. Highly recommended. Yes, agree the prices were a little high when first looking at the menu, but after experiencing the quality I get it. You get what you pay for. Went on Valentines Day, arrived early, but we were taken to our table immediately. Brussel sprouts...best I've had, but at $18 overpriced. Had a salad with salmon..very good and hubby had risotto. I'm not a fan of risotto, but this was delightful! A chocolate mousse dessert was perfect before the diet started again the next day! Really tasty. My drink...i think it was called Just in Thyme...something about Thyme...went down like koolaid. So good. Service was spot on. We will be back. It is seldom I have the opportunity to order a salad with something I've never had on a salad before. Artisan 179 has a honeycomb salad that is DELICIOUS. I had to ask my waiter to repeat specials because he was talking so fast I couldn't keep up. Still didn't know half of what he said after the second repeat. The place is lovely and the staff was wonderful. Great place for beach dining had the food and drink lived up to the atmosphere and name. We went for lunch. The drink menu is phenomenal however both our drinks, yeah baby and about thyme, fell way short of their descriptions. Really fun names and the ingredients sound divine but both our drinks tasted only of the main juice ingredient and the garnishes were nothing special. Such a disappointment at $12 each. We both ordered burgers at $16 each and once again the descriptions sounded amazing. They arrived with perfectly cooked homemade fries and a small portion of ketchup. I'm thinking some kind of aoli offerings would have been way more suited for a place like this. The burgers had beautiful bakery buns but the bacon blue cheese mousse was very scarce and cold. So cold that it made the entire burger seem cold. Now I'm not saying the food was bad, it looked and tasted pretty good. BUT the food and drinks did not live up to the descriptions and certainly not the price. Update: gave it another try because out with a friend and the menu plus craft drinks sounds sooo good. If it were not for the atmosphere and fantastic service I would delete another star. I had the hibiscus margarita and although I could taste the hibiscus, we both agreed the drink was sickening sweet. It was difficult to drink. My margarita flat bread was soggy and loaded with what tasted like jarred sauce instead of fresh tomatoes. It was not even close in quality to the $16 price tag. It gets worse. My friends philly cheese steak was filled with what appeared to be and tasted like ground beef mixed with cream of mushroom soup. It was really bad also with a $16 price tag. I travel a lot. I visit many restaurants around the globe. One thing I notice from many restaurants in US is that food is too salty and overly sweet. This restaurant make all most of its i gradients by the chef. My family loved each dish and tasted like well prepared home meal. No doubt feeding my kids. Great wine selection. I never comment on things like this, but in this case I just have to include it in my review...the chairs were so uncomfortable. When we were sat, our table was so cramped against a wall it was hard to slide into the seats. Then we noticed 2 out of the 6 chairs were broken...mine was missing the leg rest bar (it was a high top) so my legs just had to dangle the whole time. It made it very hard to enjoy the meal. The meal itself was mediocre. Cheese curds were good but everything else was unimpressive with very little meat included. Overall I was not pleased with really anything. read more

Let me start by saying it is a little bit pricey. Maybe 20% high. Guess you are paying for the location and the beautiful lake view. It is friendly, and the menu is eclectic Italian and farm to table. Cheese and charcuterie board were impressive. Great wine list. Great bar stock. DeLeon tequila, which is excellent and can be hard to find. Miranda and Ari are a heck of a great service twosome. All are good, but they are even more personable and happy to help make a great meal. My wife and I were lookin for someplace to enjoy lunch on a beautiful fall day. We saw this place had good reviews and that it has outside dining so we decided to give it a try. We couldn't have picked a better day because there was a downtown truck or treat event going on so we got to sit outside and watch all the kids go by in their costumes. When we walked in, the place was very trendy inside and had a nice feel to it. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful and attentive. I could tell right off the bat that this was going to be a pricey lunch but to be expected knowing the location. They had a nice variety on their menu which make picking something s not of a challenge. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and my wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich, both came with fries. My cheesesteak was very good and the portion size was nice. My wife's pulled pork sounded really good on the menu because it had a peach bbq on it but wasn't as good as we thought it would be. Not that is was bad but it was just an average pulled pork sandwich. Neither of us were a big fan of the fries but neither of us like thicker French fries. I also ordered a cup of cream of tomato soup that was really good. I would eat here again mainly because there was a couple other menu items that sounded really good and I like the outside dining over looking the main strip and the lake is a neat combo. Not sure how soon we will return because $45 for lunch is a bit more then I like to spend. read more

Excellent meal tonight .... as usual, at Artisan 179! We both had the cioppino ... the mussels were flavorful and the scallops were so sweet and tender. And of course Ted, in his usual hospitable way came and greeted us like old friends... he makes all of his patrons feel special and appreciated... and the meal would not be complete without the Rumchata bread pudding!!! The maple creme was delectable as well... so smooth and light. Our server Danea was perfect and finally... the guitar player was quite talented ...we thoroughly enjoyed his music. I wish I could give a better rating but our first experience there was just not good. We showed up at 1pm for lunch and a quick drink. Ordered food by 1:15. Food did not come out by 145 so we asked what is the ETA for our food. Bam 10 minutes later it finally arrives. 40 minutes after ordering. And it was wrong. For what they charge it seems crazy to have to wait 40 minutes for a cheesesteak, grilled cheese and a chicken sandwich. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

This restaurant has a beautiful location across from Pewaukee Lake, and a great ambiance. The bartender ably poured some wine for us, which we happily paid for and tipped well on before closing out our bar tab and moving to our table at 7:25pm. But beyond that, I really can't say how their food was because we never received any. We ordered shortly after being seated, since we had looked at the menu while at the bar. But the salad and burger that we ordered never wended its way to us in the next hour and a half. After having waited an hour at the table, we first ventured to ask our waitress when we might expect our meal. Until this point she had been great, but on us inquiring about our food she rolled her eyes and said she would check with the kitchen. In the next 30 minutes after asking that question, we never did get an update from her on what the kitchen happened to say about that burger and salad. A gentleman who acted as though he was the owner did stop by our table about fifteen minutes later to say that the kitchen was a bit backed up. But when we left the restaurant at its closing time of 9pm, still with no food, all he had to say was that this sort of thing happens in his business from time to time. I recommend you make sure this doesn't happen to you, and stay away from this restaurant. Head straight to the Park Avenue Pizza Company down the corner--where we ended up--and ensure you receive something to eat. read more

Went for our anniversary and it was so good! Everything was cheap for how much food you got and the quality. it was delicious, cocktails were good and i am overall happy. Our server was Ian and he was great. so friendly and was happy to answer all of our questions. It was in the middle of a huge rainstorm as well and the window behind me was dripping just a bit, and the Owner came over and cleaned it up and put napkins down to help absorb it. I'm not sure what was going on tonight. They might have been understaffed or something but we had to wait 20 minutes with open tables inside and outside. Who knows. When we were seated the waitress didn't introduce her self, we felt she was very rushed and we could tell everyone was on edge. I had the signature burger and it was nothing to brag about. It was a normal burger with no "signature" flavors. My wife had the southwestern burger but again, nothing special. I'm sure the $35+ dishes would be amazing but the type of restaurant you would have assumed the place would be much better. You can't beat the view, beautiful location in the summer and seriously a great place to eat outside. So much of me wanted to like it more but I just couldn't get past a 3 star feel. read more

Couldn't decide how to rate this restaurant. I wished that I could rate things by category vs an overall rating. The food, location, and decor of the restaurant I would definitely rate it a 5. As a solo patron, this is where I think service could improve. I only saw my server a total of three times. First was to take my order, once during my meal for a refill on a soda, and the last time to pay the bill. I'm glad that I also had a glass of water with my soda otherwise I'd have no beverage to drink in the mean time. The third time that I saw my server, I had to ask another server to locate " my server ". Just because a patron comes in alone doesn't mean that the patron should be overlooked. I will try again in the future as a solo patron and will keep an open mind knowing that multiple patrons at a single table will given attention first. read more

Great experience! We are in town from NYC and searched for a place on the water that had great food and lake views in the Waukesha lake country(how many lakes? OMG!) This checked all the boxes as Paulina was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Katrina made us feel at home as well as she checked in with us twice and we shared a few laughs; classic Wisconsin as even at great restaurants, they are family friendly sans the uppity attitude I have experienced in Chicago Dallas etc...........Aren't we all getting too old for that predictable and snobby game while overspending for "ambiance" and "name dropping"? Great place as one has many seafood, pasta, meat choices with a nice mix of homemade risottos/pastas and customized vegetable offerings. Wine list is expansive yet not over the top snobby or expensive as many decent wines were moderately priced. The red zinfandel I had by the glass was excellent (and they could charge much more for that wine!) We selected a wine, she came back with a different one, said we would like this one much better, opened it, poured it, then said it was a higher price.... I would have pushed back but was in a large group and did not want to make a scene. If it was a really good wine I might have let it pass, but it wasnt. Charged us $55 a bottle....
