. We were excited to book a lane but upon arrival we were ultimately ignored, disrespected and talked to like children by the Hispanic men up front. They were on their phones the whole time and each time we asked a question it was met with a sarcastic response. They did not want to be there and truthfully were not needed. On top of that we were overcharged and when I asked him to go over the charges and remove the extra ones he got upset, the bigger Hispanic male next to him made a rude comment under his breath saying "this is how we make our money" (What establishment brags about ripping customers off????) with that being said, you will be over charged for EVERYTHING so bring your own things if you choose to go. In most cases I would have no problem paying for an experience but it's sucks to spend your money somewhere get ripped off and mistreated. Moving on to the actual range... The MOST INTENSE RACISM IVE EVER FELT & WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. In the the back there was a large white male in both height and size. If he could've told us to leave because of our skin color he would've but instead he just talked to us like subhumans with no knowledge and tried to find ANY reason to make us leave with no refund. A family member of mine came in with his weapons disassembled, unloaded, and in brief cases. Despite this he was treated like a criminal. He asked multiple times in a aggressive and condescending tone if the guns were loaded, obviously they were not. He continued to ask this while he checked each one for himself. After not having a reason to be upset by the unloaded guns told us he'd kick us out if we thought about doing anything he didn't like. Luckily, the men in my family have great patience and self control, they ignored his comments so we could continue to the range. After his brief "I'm going to kick you out for any reason" speech we were led to the back. It was overcrowded despite having the room to space us out, he intentionally put each group right next to us to limit our space and make us uncomfortable. He would walk in periodically right past us, and give other customers tips on how to better shoot or just give plain encouragement. It was weird to see given the rude introduction we got. Unfortunately for us the ONE time he came to speak to our group it was a pathetic attempt to try to kick us out for "rapid fire"... This happened to be the sound of the semi-automatic next to us. Luckily I was outside of the range when this happened, I saw that he in fact did not see ANYONE shooting but only heard noises and stopped him in his tracks. He agreed that he didn't see it but still ran in to yell at the 2 black men in our group to tell them he'd still be kicking us out if he even thought it was us again. Pretty discriminatory and ignorant in my opinion. Just to add and finish off, we had a member that stayed behind and didn't want to shoot. She watched and cheered us on behind the glass. In the middle of shooting I took a break to talk to her and happened to throw out my headphones. I went to the front to purchase another pair quickly but instead of just accepting my money the Hispanic man stopped me and accused me of "buying another pair just to sneak my friend that didn't pay in" I was dumbfounded by this more so because were grown adults that don't have to scam places to have fun but also because the back of the range was severely patrolled at the time by the racist man I described above. It would've been impossible to "sneak someone in" I also felt this was discriminatory and plain rude. Unfortunately that was NOT the final straw for this place. In the car discussing how this would be our last time coming to this establishment, the family member I mentioned that stayed behind told us how the man randomly started speaking to her, only in an attempt to make her uncomfortable sharing his political views on George Floyd and mentioning how he was preparing for the verdict for Derek Chauvin to be "not guilty" so he could get ready with his loaded guns. I felt it was absolutely disgusting of him to force his views on this person during the political climate but luckily for us it confirmed that we weren't being hyper sensitive and he was in fact guilty of discrimination towards the black men in our group :(((( It really sucks that people still can't be nice and respectful of humans of any race. If the establishment does a sweep of their employees I believe they could be ok. We won't be returning but if you do have patience for rude employees and beware of your safety!!! read more

I was on the phone with someone working there and asked what the restrictions were for the range during the COVID pandemic & they never mentioned that every person in the shooting booth needs a FOID. I've came here numerous times with a friend that didn't have a FOID and never had a problem, everything was great! My friend and I drove 45 minutes only to find out we both needed a FOID to shoot during this pandemic. Absolute waste of our time. After trying a few times to go shooting here on weekends, I finally had a weekday night free and decided to check it out with a friend to break in his new 1911. So load up the range bag and hit the door! I lucked out and actually found a parking spot! This was a huge win because their parking situation is a major problem. When I walk up to the door, I am greeted with a few signs that I feel I should read because I have not been here before. The poorly handwritten sign that basically says "No ski masks" was... well... encouraging? The rest of the signs, not so helpful. "Range Users: See The Front Register" Ok, great... which is considered the front register? Enter the ever-so-helpful staff that the other reviewers have mentioned. Oh wait, they all must have been off that night. So here is the first tip, the front register is to the right when you walk in. I go up to them and I am greeted with a stare. Finally one of the employees decides to speak to their customer with the always heartwarming "What do you want?" Well I want to spend some hard earned money in your establishment sir! Please allow me to do so! After I pay, I am then left to figure out where and what to do next. Here is Tip #2, make sure to keep your receipt and then walk through the double doors to the range. You will then see the range officer, present your receipt, and then put your name on the list. It's not a hard concept, but something that the person taking your money could tell you in about 10 seconds. While you wait, in what appears to be their storage room, you are able to view the other shooters on the range. There are some seats available, all seats donated from the Salvation Army as they didn't want them. I will say that the range officer on duty during my visit did his best to get me in ASAP. That said, I still waited about 40 mins. Luckily the time was broken up by some excitement that occurred. One of the other people waiting decided that this would be a good time to remove his firearm from his case and also take (what ended up being an empty) magazine out and start to mess around with them. The RO was all over this guy and the situation was resolved in a calm manner. So with two empty ranges inexplicably closed, wait times approaching an hour and staff we'd rather avoid dealing with, the two of us decided to take turns at one lane. For a new range, I swear it's been open for years by the looks of it. My target carrier was supposed to give a distance read out. No, it was broken. It would have been nice to have a broom to sweep the brass out of the lane. The lane itself was ok, but you do not have much room in there. Shooting with two people sharing a lane was a little tough, but the lane is long enough that you are not on top of each other. Just no place to put your bag that it won't be in the way. The lighting on the range was really good actually. The HVAC was ok. There was someone shooting something with dirty ammo (most likely Wolf) and it created a slight haze. The temp on range was hot and I did have to step out to cool off. As a place to shoot a piece of paper with your firearm, this place will work. It's close to my house and you can shoot anything (for the most part). Those are the positives. There are many areas that could use a major overhaul. Start with the staff. Poor customer service is the worst thing a business can be known for. This was not my first visit to a range, but a little instruction goes a long way. I feel bad for anyone that has never been to a range before. Being left to their own devices here would provide them with a bad experience and potentially turn them off to this hobby all together. The opening of this range has been very anticipated by many people in the area. Maybe I was setting the bar a little too high, but with all that time to get their act together, one would think they could provide a better experience. This review is coming from a casual shooter perspective, i don't own a handgun and I'll go to a range once or twice a year. I'm just looking to have some fun without a headache. TL;DR version: The shop people are fine. While the range is well equipped, the range staff are a bunch of dicks. DO NOT GO HERE. FULL version: ------------------- The range is large, 4 zones with 8 lanes each for a total of 24. They can handle a lot of people but at the same time the wait will be long due to a large crowd. We came in on a weekend morning and there was no wait. As we left around lunch time we overheard the parking attendant inform incoming cars that the wait was approx. 1 hr. You'll quickly notice that this place attracts the hard core white gun-nut/redneck crowd. Not a knock to law abiding gun owners, but it's comical to see people bring so much equipment that it looks like they are moving into the tiny shooting stalls. I don't know if being a minority makes you a second class citizen, but the older woman handling rental/range customers was a Grade A Bitch. Here I am bringing new shooters spending north of $150 and she's unleashing a torrent of condescending attitude. We're your perfect customers, renting everything and paying that massive markup. EVERY gun range i have been to before has been patient and shown me the functions of the gun before letting us shoot. This woman? She throws a test at us demanding proficiency and not even offering a tutorial. Do explain how new shooters are supposed to start without any guidance? I've shot a half dozen times at other ranges but fumbled a little through her pop quiz, all the while getting talked down to. Not quite sure what kind of troubled life one needs to have to become like her, maybe it is me who should have pity for her. At the end of the day, I'm not related to her so I'm blessed after all!. Pricing = excessive. $20 for the first person and $12 for each individual sharing a lane, ouch. $12 for a rental? Ouch. Ammo is on par with other ranges. I've come to the conclusion that this place caters directly to the gun owning enthusiast and doesn't even want rental customers. Why else would you make the pricing and service so undesirable? So you've made it this far, thankfully the experience gets better from here. You proceed to the range officer and get assigned a lane. He was rather disinterested and sleepy, but cordial enough. Once inside the shooting lanes it's business as usual. Once you finish you retrieve your foid cards and GTFO. Conclusion --------------- I will never ever come here again. Anyone who wants to shoot casually should never come here. I can give a lukewarm recommendation to folks bringing their own guns, ammo, protection, targets etc and only paying the range fee. Honestly though I would never want to interact with their staff again. It is unacceptable to be rude to customers that want to pay you for services. I understand guns are serious business, but every other range I've been has been serious and polite at the same time. It can be done. I went to this place awhile ago after buying a Groupon to take my brother to a shooting lesson for his birthday. I called in advance, since it was a Saturday, and they said they were pretty busy but we shouldn't have any trouble getting in if we come a little later in the afternoon. So we drove almost an hour to get there (we live in Chicago) only to find out they were too busy with "fully paying customers" to fulfill a Groupon that day! Are you kidding me?! So I basically pleaded with one of the guys behind the counter to get us in any time that day because we had driven so far and it was my brother's birthday. He said he'd try to squeeze us in...an hour of waiting later, he said there would be no chance we'd get in. We were pretty furious, but we left and decided to try another day. Finally we were able to redeem the Groupon a few weeks later. It was a complete waste of money! We had to wait 30-45 minutes past the time that we reserved because the instructor was with "fully paying customers" who had been coming for awhile. Once we finally sat down for the lesson, the instructor seemed very annoyed by having to teach novices. He rushed through explanations and seemed very disengaged. Finally it came time to shoot. I can't remember the exact guns that we shot (2 different guns) but the instructor was very impatient and particularly frustrated with me because I wasn't hitting the target consistently. At one point he looked at me and said "are you even trying? or are you really just missing all those shots?" EXCUSE ME? We had a 15 minute lesson, thank you very much. And let's not ignore the fact that prior to that very day, I had never even held a gun. So no, I wasn't hitting the target very well. It was probably a combination of inexperience and nervousness. But how incredibly rude is it to say something like that, especially to a beginner? If you're teaching introductory courses, you'd better have the patience to work with people like me who are completely inexperienced. Every employee at this place seemed to act superior to the customers. I consistently felt like I was being mocked or talked down to for asking questions. Here's a hint, guys: if you want people to care about guns and your right to have and own guns, maybe don't act like such pretentious jerks. You're pushing away customers, especially people like me who just wanted to learn the basics. Oh. And they also lost my FOID card application and I had to pay another $20 to re-file it. Thanks! First experience: friend reserved lane, enjoyed banter with staff. Enjoyed he older gentleman at the front door who wanted to help. Is the range the super Super most modern? No.....but enjoyable. Second experience: website showed no lanes. Called to see if any lanes would be open for walk-ins....got some guy (deep gruff voice) who answered as if he was annoyed. I explained the website showed........interrupted that I spoke too fast.....obliged.....the website is showing there are no spots available for......interrupted that I didn't clarify what website (really??)....I clarified again that it showed there were no slots on the website for the range......the response was: "don't come here without a FOID, lanes might be open". Now I totally get there are some old timers that don't have the patience for stupidity (I actually enjoy them a bit). As dumb as I think I am, I was actually being as to the point as possible...sucks that they may be missing business for people who don't know how to handle people. Would love to see this improve, and have a thriving place close to home. Unfortunately, I think old habits die hard. One more random try, and that will be my last attempt to giving my hard earned money to a place that doesn't appreciate customers. My cop buddy has bought guns from here before (and they botched the order but that's besides this post). I've shot here for free numerous times before and the gentlemen behind the counter has the nerve to charge for range fees. Very high prices coupled with very bad attitude. I tried to haggle...he tried to lie about FFL fees to make his prices seem more reasonable. (He said that FFL fees are frequently around $100 when they are actually $20 to $40 most everywhere in illinois) furthermore he did so with such a abrasive attitude. I guess that he was doing me a favor by talking to me. There is a smaller, friendlier and more sanely priced gun shop in the same town...find them. Their initials are N.A.F. I saved $150 on a gun by driving 5 minutes from the nightmare that is Article. And N.A.F. is run by a very nice lady and her son. I would not go back to Article for any reason whatsoever. read more

Since the last time I was here, things have gone downhill. The electronic systems are now simply a switch and some guesswork as to how many yards out you are and everything seems to be falling apart. If you don't buy a pack, the range price is pretty high, and if you DO buy a pack you can't return it (after seeing the decline in this place I don't want to come anymore but I can't get my money back). I went for their Grand opening and while I was in my booth shooting at my target I felt something burn my arm and thought it was too hot to be a discharged casing so I looked and my arm was bleeding and burning, I looked down and there was a curled piece of steel on the floor. I picked it up and it was still hot. I showed it to one of the employees and he said that is why you wear safety glasses. I said so I wear safety glasses so I can get shot in my arm? In all of my years of shooting, I have NEVER taken shrapnel before or know anyone who has and this was during their grand opening. Another employee came by and asked if I was the one hit and I said yes. He asked for the bullet and walked away. As I was packing up employees kept coming to me looking at the wound and the round that hit me but no one even offered me a bandage. As I was leaving, one of the guys behind the counter asked if I was the one that got hit and I said yes. I believe it was the owner standing next to him, he looked at me did not say a word and walked into the back. Since there is no other range anywhere near me, I went back dozens of times. Never got hit again, but the place deteriorated further and further each time I went. A lot of the carriers are broke, the ventilation system is no good anymore, it is way too hot in there, but the only thing that I cant tolerate is how rude the people are. Especially behind the counter by the range...you ask them for the targets you purchased and they act as though they are forced to go out of their way to do you the favor of giving you the targets you already paid for. I bought a few 10 pass tickets because I kept forgetting the ones I had so I kept going back hoping once all the people know me, maybe they will be less rude. Although their range is only a couple years old, it seems like it is ten times as old, but I did not care. It is only a dozen miles from my house and although the lighting is weak, it is lit and carriers work once in a while which is good enough for me...when mine breaks, I call someone over or move to a free one. What I cant get past is how freaking rude and indifferent they all are. I cant give that kind of establishment my money! I dont remember the guys name, I thought it was George, but he was a great guy, friendly, said hi when I walked in, but I stopped seeing him there. Maybe they fired him because he was too friendly? The last time I went, it was with a few people and I spent about $400 there and the entire time I was embarrassed by how extra rude everyone was to us this time and I have been there at least 20 times in the last year and a half. Even the woman who works the register was extra short...what a shame!!! Although, anyone who thinks this place will have to change or go out of business is soooooo wrong! Until someone else opens another range in the area which is probably impossible to get a permit for and then allows rifles, this place will have a line out the door at all times! It seems easier to smile and say hello once in a while than to be rude all the time, but what do I know! What I am certain of is that I will not go back again. I will drive to Bass Pro in Gurnee or Mega Sport in Plainfield which both have much nicer, brighter, better air circulating, climate controlled range's anyhow. I can work around lousy equipment, poor ventilation, and sound damping cushions falling on my head, but being courteous does not cost any more than being rude! So this was my first time at this particular range, the guy I spoke with on the phone was kind of a spaz, he was really stressed out and did not seem to have the proper knowledge about products or services offered. That notwithstanding I still decided to go anyway. Let me first say I am not a novice shooter, and have been to many many ranges. This was by far the dirtiest, most unorganized place I have ever shot at. The carpet was stained, the inventory was in no particular order, and there were way more people there than the space could hold. In a word it was filthy. Safety, or lack thereof was amazing... I'll explain... When u walk in you are supposed to sign a ledger if your using the range, I saw more than a few people walk in, skip all the required signing and go right to the range. By that I mean they were able to walk into the range with out anybody ever checking for an ID or FOID card. I'm sad to say how disappointed I was with the entire experience, I will, in the future drive the extra way to GAT Guns. read more

Like most gun stores and public ranges I've ever experienced, they have little competition and therefore little reason to make any effort to maintain the facilities, train employees in basic customer service, or generally do anything you would expect of any other public business. The only pro to this range is that it's indoor, they allow centerfire rifle cartridges, and they won't give you crap over Russian/steel cased ammo. So if it's winter, you don't like the cold, and you want to put a few rounds through your AR from a standing position at 25yds, this place will function for that purpose. I've been to this range dozens of times, both for public shooting and some hosted training courses on the flat bay. Every single time: The place is very disorganized, dirty, and piled with random junk everywhere. The ventilation is poor. The lighting is dark. The bathroom is always flooded or in some other way disgusting. The employees do not wear a uniform of any kind and typically have the attitude that they are a 'buddy' just hanging around the store with no interest in actually interacting with customers. When they do interact with you, they are rude, lack the ability to answer basic questions about prices, products available, etc. They have a frighteningly retarded grasp of safety. I kid you not, I had one employee tell me how he caught a shooter violating safety on the range (pointing a rifle away from down range into the safe area). This is of course, very dangerous. His response to this? He slapped the rifle out of the customer's hand, causing it to fall to the ground. That is an extremely dangerous thing to do because if the customer holding the rifle had his finger inside the trigger guard, he could have caused the rifle to discharge into the safe area. Not only that, he was actually PROUD that he damaged the rifle when it hit the concrete floor! The employee should have simply told the customer to watch his muzzle, make sure the weapon was clear, and escorted him out because he clearly had no business shooting around other people. Oh yeah, and the parking is awful. The building is located in an industrial park and was clearly not intended for the crowds of people that cram inside the place every week. Parking is tight and you can easily be blocked in. They even have people park on the grass in front! Make no mistake, the place is a giant cluster f***. But, like I said above, competition in the area is minimal. Despite the shortcomings, it's probably your best bet short of a private club. read more

My review is only for the range. That being said, I've been to better places. There was a fairly thick haze from all the spent propellant generated by several active lanes. Perhaps this is normal for older ranges, but the two I frequent feature much better air handling. If you have respiratory issues, you might need to be wearing MOPP gear when shooting. If you have a reservation, be prompt or else it will be forfeited. You may be able to be put on a waiting list for the first available lane. read more

The owner and sales people are extremely rude not to mention the conditions of the facility are sloppy and messy to the point of being unsafe for anybody who enters. I asked to wear my GoPro on a chest harness (no danger at all) and was told that the owner doesn't want people copying his companies ideas. What a joke, they just don't want people to see how horribly set up it is. I hope that the Lombard fire marshal randomly visits them, as they surely will temporarily be shut down and fined a great deal. We have been to this range several times over the last two years, and if we didn't have plans already with our nephews tomorrow we would not be returning. There was a fire incident on one of the lanes the other day so I called this afternoon to make sure that the range was still operational and that our time slot for tomorrow was still good to go. The "gentleman" (and I use that term very sarcastically) I asked on the phone told me he couldn't understand me, didn't know what i was talking about, and that I needed to speak differently. After repeating my question to him several times ("Hi, I heard there was a fire incident on the range the other day, I wanted to just see if everything was still open and our range time was good to go for tomorrow") He still apparently didn't understand me. So, in "caveman"speak as I like to call it I said "WAS. THERE. A. FIRE." him: "Yes" me: "IS. THE. RANGE. OPEN." him: "yes" me: "I. HAVE. TIME. TOMORROW. IS. IT. STILL. OKAY? " him; "yeah" me: "THANKS. BYE." We've had some moments of rudeness from staff there but usually brushed it aside, but today I'm just done with it. It was basically the 'straw that broke the camels back' so to speak. read more

Although this range is close to my house, I will not go there anymore. For a while I was able to tolerate the absolutely terrible customer service from "Bob", but I can't ignore it anymore. When I say terrible customer service, I really mean it. It's almost comical how inept Bob the range master's customer service skills are. I said almost, because I can laugh off Bob's rude comments and distasteful disposition, but it's sad range ownership overlooks Bob's significant short comings. Bob might be a great guy and have other wonderful qualities, but it's obvious he shouldn't be dealing with people. So obvious other customers were talking about how a groupon deal (which I didn't know about) was going to bring in customers and Bob the greeter was going to chase them away. After I heard Bob tell a customer he should go to GAT Guns instead of Article II. I think I'll take his advice. Article IIs range is dimly lit and though I'm sure ventilation is up to whatever code a range is held to, it's not enough. There is always residue in the air and the following my range time I can taste and smell the powder for hours afterwards. I have found that eating a chilli pepper after my range time will make my nose run and clear my sinuses. Sorry to be gross but I have to get the black gunk out of my nasal cavities, I'm sure that's not good for you. Gatt is clean, very well ventilated, the range guys are very friendly and I don't need my chilli pepper after a visit. Considering I can go there, maintain my health and not get verbally assaulted by Bob, my mind is made up. Thanks but no thanks Article II, I'm going to Gat. And by the way, raising your range lane price to $42.00 just to be berated by Bob the greeter and get lead poisoning isn't worth it. It's not all bad, the guys at the gun counter seem to be friendly and knowledgeable. Parking is difficult at best, but they do have someone stationed out side telling you to park down the street if the lot is full. read more

Granted there aren't a whole lot of these places in the Chicago metropolitan area, Article II (Gun World) is my preferred place whenever I feel like taking my guns out for a fireworks show. The range is pretty big, but don't let that fool you. Unless you show up early on a week day, you're likely going to experience a wait. Their waiting area is relatively large so there are plenty of places to sit along with vending machines and a television; but what you'll likely end up doing is talking guns or making fun of Piers Morgan with the other patrons. I find that the gun owner community in Illinois is an overall friendly group. Once you're on the range, you'll find it pretty comfortable. The booths are well lit and there's ample space for you and your stuff as well as another person if you want to give them some instructions on how to handle a particular firearm (It's unethical to have an uncased gun outside a booth even if it's not loaded. And you'll catch hell from the staff and the patrons if you do it). They limit two people per booth so no gun range booth raves I'm afraid. You don't need a FOID to shoot there, but you do have to be accompanied by someone who does. Also, you're allowed to shoot just about anything there provided you're not using incendiary or tracer rounds. The staff is overall helpful and friendly. There are a few guys there who are curt or just plain cranky, but I guess they have to be since, you know, everyone who walks in is holding a deadly weapon. But as long as you follow the rules, which are more than reasonable, and you don't go in there acting like a wild cowboy, you'll hardly have to deal with them apart from paying at the register and showing your receipt stub to the range officer. As a store, the selection is pretty good. I've even found that they have a decent selection of ammo more often than not, although it's not a good idea to go there with the expectation that they'll have the ammo you're looking for. They have plenty of pistols, revolvers, shotguns and rifles for sale so if there's anything specific you're looking for, you very well might find it. My only pet peeve is that the prices usually aren't visible on their guns. I feel like an ass when I want to see a gun and then realize that it's $200 more than I'd be willing to pay for it. Overall it's a great place to shoot or perhaps to learn how to shoot. Just remember to bring a root beer and some reading material if you plan to go on a weekend or week night. The old, ignorant, codgy guy who "helped" us before we took our lane spent 2 minutes yelling at us about damaging things before we even got into the range. He was extremely disrespectful. Because this range is a newer one, I expected better. Instead, I encountered many conditions that I felt were inconvenient, unprofessional, and unapologetically ghetto. Due to all the snow Chicagoland experienced this winter, many parking lots have been inundated with mountains of impenetrable ice. Article II is no different but parking conditions were especially haphazard in their parking lot. It was difficult to park my compact car in a space without mashing my bumper into the ice mountain in an attempt to leave enough space for other vehicles to pass through behind me. Of course the vehicles parked against the wall of the building behind my car didn't make things any safer. The front area is occupied by the retail area and is well lit with ample signage directing people to the correct location to pay for range time. There seemed to be a more than sufficient amount of employees behind the counters ready to answer any questions. These employees were polite and eager to help. After paying for range time up front, I moved to the rear section where the range is located and was immediately met with dripping ceilings, soaking wet carpeting, and fans to help dry up the wet floors. Okay, I guess they had a few leaks. After buying some paper targets, which was an unnecessarily second transaction, I was curtly directed to a range number. After donning eye/ear protection, I proceeded inside the range only to be met with even more dripping ceilings and large puddles of standing water. This made for a dangerously slippery combination of spent brass and water: not exactly safe condition for people of any experience to be handling live ammo. A few of the stalls were closed due to malfunction so I chose a vacant and functioning stall only to discover there was a constant drip of water directly above the bench. Great, there were no other available stalls so I made my way back out to talk with the RSO. I politely expressed my concern with a large bearded older gentleman wearing an RSO hat who very quickly and rudely told me to find a dry one or leave. Stunned by his ridiculous response, I again politely explained that there were no other vacant stalls so I asked if I could check the other ranges. He seemed to have realized that I wasn't there to complain and quickly changed his tone and gave me permission to check the other range. I say range because range 3 was closed due to flooding. I was there to complete my qualifications for IL CCL so I didn't bother expressing my concern with that RSO's attitude. I finally found a vacant stall and completed my qualification while standing in a 1/4 in. of water. I'm glad I was wearing winter footwear or my feet would have gotten soggy. Needless to say, I didn't feel comfortable staying much longer to get some practice in because of the unsafe conditions. The last thing I wanted to be a part of was someone slipping and accidentally discharging their firearm in my direction. I was very disappointed by my experience and hope that the management decides to improve the conditions soon or I will not be returning to Article II. read more

I received a msg on Yelp from "Barry S., Owner", but signed "Leo Fasciana". It included this quote: "one comment you made was you had to adjust your aim point very high together to the target area, this may be a training issue that is quite common. A 9mm is a powerful firearm and learning to use one properly" (sic) Did you even read my review? It was a BRAND NEW GUN. THE SIGHTS WERE OFF. I have been there multiple times, I have shot other 9mms, in fact I own another 9mm that I have no problem shooting accurately because the SIGHTS ARE ACCURATELY ADJUSTED. I spelled all of this out in my review, so I am not sure why you would think this is a "training issue". I am well aware that a 9mm is powerful. All firearms are. I have shot much more powerful guns than a 9mm with no problems as well. Assuming that I do not know how to "use one properly" seems incredibly condescending to me. You have pretty much solidified that I will not be returning to your range or your store. Ever. read more

First time at this gun range, let alone any gun range. I was excited, nervous, unsure. Upon walking in we were in a gun shop with handheld guns, rifles, gun accessories, the whole nine yards. The gun range was located behind the shop and upon realizing this and asking the 2 employees sitting back there we learned that you had to pay at the front for the gun range. For 2 of us we paid about $34 for all day shooting, no time limit. Anyways we go back to the gun range give the employees our paid stub and we are quoted about 30-40 minutes. Since you can stay in the gun range all day it's hard to estimate a time people will be done. We paid $1 for 4 target sheets and about 20 minutes late a lane opened up. Got our headphones and protective goggles on and Scott (the bf) proceeds to show me how to properly load the 9mm. A bit nervous at this moment with all the loud gun shots and shells everywhere. So I told Scott go first. After a few rounds it was my turn. Cold hard metal, heavier than expected. Amazing how such a small weapon can cause so much damage. I lock and load (like a pro, ha) and aim and fired! Boom! My shoulders and upper body is pushed back a bit. Shocked! What power! I get an adrenaline rush and pop a few more and then we proceed to switch back and fourth a few more times. (Bullets ain't cheap y'all.) On my second round I hit 5 out of 6 head shots, yeah, your girl is a badass or at least I felt like one. Although I pray that I would never have to use the 9mm on anyone, ever. Article II Range is a basic place. A warehouse turned into a gun range, nothing fancy or anything crazy, simple and basic. For a first timer, I definitely enjoyed it. read more

Went here with my husband after buying a Groupon. I was dumb and didn't read the fine print, so we just walked in not knowing we needed a reservation. They were able to get us in a couple of days later, so it was no big deal (only that what was a surprise for my husband was no longer a surprise..again, not their fault though!). I was worried about this informational session that we needed to take before we could learn to shoot but it was really just a safety briefing. So, on to the good part! The guy let us each shoot a couple of different types of guns (the revolver was definitely the best!) and talked to us about how to improve our shot, etc.). We got to shoot each gun for a full round twice (so four full rounds each). We had a really great time and had a chance to experience something new! read more

YES Article II aka Gun World is finally fully open!!! After over a year of emails getting our hopes up, all inspections have passed and equipment installed and Article II does not disappoint! Range is $20 to shoot all day, $150 for a 10 use pass. I opted for the annual membership for $225. Ammo is typically priced for a range in this area. Of course eyes/ears/targets are available to rent/buy. Pros - courteous, helpful staff - Large amount of lanes all on a electronic controlled system. Punch in the distance you want and it goes there! All lanes well lit and they go to 75ft. You can even shoot practically anything including rifles (slugs for shotguns though). - nice selection of antique/old/used firearms that you wouldn't normally find at other ranges. - on sight training with classrooms Cons - not a large rental selection. About a dozen firearms but the staples are there (1911, Glock, Rugger MKIII, etc) - a bit of a drive from the city (good though because it keeps out the shady characters that you would find at Midwest Guns or IL Gun works). - small parking lot if it gets too busy (you can park at another business across the street) - still working the bugs out in the new electronic range. Don't be surprised to have a cease fire called. Overall this is the best place to shoot in the area. You won't be disappointed! read more

Range is: - great lighting - great ventilation - setting up targets is a cake walk - booth is ok for 2 people to relax and shoot in shooting the a/r & a/k was nice here no buck shot when shooting the shotgun but that's understandable firearm & ammo selection is moderate NO rapid firearm (they were nice about the warnings tho) i HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go there when they open if not the wait can get ridiculous, note i came on a weekend might not be bad weekdays location is nice and secluded, good crowd, parking well not a lot of it but like i said get there early an that shouldn't be a problem for 20$ to shoot any caliber w/ no time limit LOVE IT BUT now i love shooting so when i go sum where i could careless about everything else except 2 things GOOD RANGE & CUSTOMER SERVICE the staff can catch more bee's with honey...lets leave it at that to sum it up good range to shoot at i'd grin and bare it & visit again read more

First time visitor and I will definitely be back. Contrary to some of the reviews, I found the staff to be helpful and courteous. My 16 year old son had a blast. Rented Glock, 150 rounds of ammunition, numerous fun targets, and time on the range was about $100. Money well spent for some great enjoyment with my boy. Can't wait to do it again!! read more

I recently attended my Groupon class with Robin and she did an excellent job explaining the basics of gun safety. She took the time to answer all my questions and was very patient and was very encouraging in the gun range. After the class, Robin and Jessie answered all my questions regarding my desire to purchase the "right" firearm for my needs. They showed me several pistols and explained the differences. A big thank you to Jessie for sharing his experience, expertise, and knowledge of the various pistols. There's nothing more valuable than getting first hand information and testimonials from someone knowledgeable on the subject matter versus just read random people's opinions on the internet. I'm definitely leaving towards a particular firearm that Jessie recommended. I'll definitely come back to Article 2 and highly recommend everyone to come check them out. read more

My boyfriend got me an hour worth of lessons (guns, ammo, instructor and boyfriend included). It was clean, organized and very friendly. Andy was the one teaching me proper stances and how to hold different hand guns. He ended up throwing in a free bleeding target of a zombie woodchuck. (pretty cool) I would recommend this place for sure! If you don't mind the drive. They let you rent guns and their space in a variety of increments. Expect to spend around $100 but walk away feeling like you got your moneys worth. They lost a star because they have a leaky roof when it rains. read more

My favorite gun range for indoor practice. It reeks of smoke and gun powder clogging your nose that sticks to your clothes. The glorious sound of semi-automatic fire blowing your ears out. Make sure to wear double hearing protection and safety goggles. Grab a broom-sweep up your casings to tidy up your lane and be a good sport. A great place to also buy guns and ammunition. read more

Range: Got a family pass and have been making good use of it. Great range - the only place I have ever shot at indoors where I didn't feel like I was breathing in gun powder and smoke all day. It nice that there is no time limit on how long you shoot for so don't feel rushed or like you need to watch the clock. No place better to shoot at in the area. It's nice to be able to shoot rifles or anything else you have indoors. Store: It looks like they are getting in some new inventory and the cases are filling up. It would be nice if the prices on the guns were more clearly labeled as it seems stuff from the old store they need to go to the old book to find the sale price. They have a lot of different guns and both new and used guns to choose from. Staff: They have been very helpful and friendly to me. I have heard that other have had some issues but if I had to guess it would be because they we not following the rules on the range (rapid file). The gunsmith (Glen) is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He was very quick in doing some work for me and even came onto the range to make sure that everything was working as desired and provided some really good tips to improve my shooting. Other staff members have also been very helpful and even let us shoot guns from their personal collection. (An item was not currently available for sale but could of been order if desired). Other vendors and classes on range #4: When I got back into shooting a group of us took a class with http://www.exceltraininggroup.com. TD and Bill are both great instructors and run a number of other classes and events at the range. You can learn a lot in short amount of time from both. I have been to several of the "Action Pistol" nights since then and really enjoy it. Even if I don't shoot as well as I would like to that night I know that if nothing else there are always great treats/cookie provided by TD. The skills and drills nights are really good for people that are not yet ready for competition and just want to try or have the option to try moving and shooting or shooting something other than the usual paper targets (Steel Plates / free standing targets with obstacles on range). I have also taken classes with http://www.2learn2shoot.com/ with Keith Gerue and Ed Bryant The Utah CCW class and the Personal Protection courses. Both class were very interesting and helpful in understanding the laws and best practices. Part of one of the classes included a discussion with Joel Ostrander who is both an attorney and instructor that clarified all of the laws and expectations for owning, transporting and use of firearms in Illinois. I would highly recommend taking these classes for anyone that owns or is considering the purchase of a firearm. This class also include some of the most interesting drills on the range I have had. That experience of moving and shooting was worth it on it's own. It is what really got me interested in doing the additional "Action Pistol" shooting. I highly recommend this place - I can't tell you how happy I am that they are finally open. read more

Hard to find parking sometimes. Weekends are busy so expect to wait or go on weekdays. You can also make reservations for the range. Staff is hit or miss. Some are nice, some are not friendly. Pretty nice facility compared to some of the other ranges I've been to. They have a lot of shooting stalls and the range itself is pretty clean for what it is. The Pro's You can shoot pretty much any type of gun here, not just handguns. Clean and up to date range stalls. Electric target caddies You can reserve a range stall online before you go there The Con's It gets very crowded sometimes The parking lot can get a little frustrating because its small and they are usually pretty busy. I purchased the Groupon which seems to be one of the biggest draws to this place. I totally see where other people are coming from when they say point out some of the customer service complaints. The staff here can be very hit or miss depending on their mood that day and your receptivity to sarcasm and humor which may be construed as "smart alec". As for me I was ok with it, I didn't love my instructor, but he was still helpful... enough. The deal consisted of a pre-range safety talk and orientation followed by 2 rounds of revolver firing and pistol firing. You kind of wanted more at the end, but at least you got a chance to shoot without needing a FOID card or experience. On one final note, there is something quite amusing about a gun range called "Article II". ARTICLE II of the constitution is the section that establishes the Executive Branch of the United States government and expounds on the roles, responsibilities and structures included within that particular branch.
