I cannot recommend them enough. This was the easiest FFL transfer ever. My item was delayed because of the recent storms, and I was a bit worried, having never used them before. But all my worries were put to rest the day of delivery. I received a text that they received my shipment, and informed me of their hours of operation for transfers. Park in back in the north lot opposite Central as that's their own lot. Walk around to the front door on Central and ring their doorbell. The paperwork was quick and easy, and she clearly pointed out everything I had to fill out. Background check only took a few seconds. I was in and out with my package in 10 minutes. $30 per transfer and your 7th one is free. As for the training, etc. I cannot comment. If/when I take any classes, I will update. read more

I used Check You 6 as my FFL for my first firearm purchase, and the experience was excellent. The team is professional, knowledgeable, and very personable--Sam was especially helpful. Their hours are convenient, and their FFL fee is the best I found in the Chicagoland area. My background check ran as "pending," but they gave me great advice to make future transfers much smoother. This will definitely be my go-to FFL! read more

I've done MANY transfers with Sam and Joyce. 100% professional, great with communication, and always available with advice. They are the BEST FFL in Illinois, period. I recently made the mistake of buying a firearm from cabelas (I had a gift card) and had them do the background check and paperwork. 2.5 hours. At check your 6, you're in and out in 10 minutes. Also, Sam's CCL class is hands down the best you will take. read more

Sam is a great instructor and does a good job of keeping the class engaged. He shares a lot of great info and I would recommend his class if you're looking to exercise your right to conceal and carry. read more

Sam's class has EVERYTHING you need to feel confident and knowledgeable on not only how to wield and operate a firearm, but of the laws and possible scenarios you may encounter. Sam, a retired police officer and pilot has a laid back personality. As a woman and first time shooter, it was intimidating to walk into a class full of men who already had some experience with firearms. Thankfully, Sam's inclusive, humorous and welcoming personality helped put me at ease. In this class you learn the current laws in place for the state of Illinois, what other states your Conceal Carry License is valid, the importance of being able to defend yourself/your family should the need ever arise, when it is appropriate to use your firearm, how to operate and troubleshoot any problems with the firearm and so SO much more (we even acted out different scenarios)! When I stepped into class the first day, I was afraid. Afraid of what I didn't know about guns. After going through the class, I now have a better understanding that yes, it should always be handled with care and only drawn when a life is threatened -- it isn't guns we should fear, but instead those who intend on using them or any weapon to harm us. Thank you Sam and Check Your6 for giving me this invaluable lesson, your professionalism, attention to detail, and for giving me the confidence I needed to better protect my family. read more

Check Your 6 - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Arlington Heights, Illinois

Excellent service. They have great knowledge of applicable laws. Very reasonable prices.

I usually get my guns transferred to FFL by my house since cook county has lovely ban on so called "assault weapons" bans, meaning a lot of businesses will not ship your typical ar-15 to cook county. But stripped/complete lowers, I get them sent over to Check your 6 so I can pick them up on the way home. They are Lovely people to deal with, easy and painless transaction for all your firearm transfer needs. $30 per transfer which is about $20 cheaper than a lot of difference FFLs and your 7th transfer is totally free. Will do business again for sure. read more

Pure professional, like coming here, because he knows what he's doing. Will continue to use his services

Sam and the rest of the team did an amazing job coordinating the CCW class, making it enjoyable despite long hours of presentations & information, and overall creating a great environment to learn in. They provided tons of help with regards to the basics of a firearm- grip, stance, decision making in various scenarios, etc. Overall, would without a doubt recommend the CCW course (and FFL transfers, their price is the cheapest around. No joke.) with Sam & team to anyone. Absolutely loved my experience with them and I hope to do future business with them! read more

Sam is awesome. The CCL class is just what you want: informative, complete, and topical. Sam takes the class seriously, but his presentation style is laid back and comfortable. His experience as a police officer gives a great perspective. I took my original certification through him and used him for the re-cert. Highly recommended! read more

The course was super helpful, and I enjoyed the entire leaning experience. I would highly recommend this course !

Not the easiest place to find, But let me tell you it's a great find. The location isn't at all anything to brag about. If anything it was a bit out of my comfort zone at first. What makes this business so special is the dude that runs the show. Sam is the nicest person ever. I came upon this business for a FFL transfer and once I started talking to Sam I couldn't believe how helpful he was. I decided not to transfer and actually buy from here. He not only got me a great deal, he made the process way easier than it has ever been before. This is my go-to from now on. Give Sam a call and I'm sure you will understand quickly. read more

Took the weekend CCL class with Sam and it was one of the best classes I have ever been to. Time flies so fast in his sessions and even found ways to keep us entertained and engaged throughout the 16 hour class. Sam provided 1 on 1's as needed with all the students and did not ever get mad if someone needed a bit of extra time or help. Would highly recommend his classes if you are thinking about taking a CCL class even if you don't have a lot of knowledge on firearms or shooting. read more

I have gotten several handguns and ammunition sent to Sam and Joyce at Check Your 6. Could not ask for an easier experience. They are great to work with and communicate quickly! Definitely recommend them, and will utilize Sam's CCW class in the future as soon as I get enough friends together!!! read more

Sam is THE MAN!! Witty, knowledgeable and one of the best in the business. His CCW classes are well constructed and his students benefit from his years in law enforcement read more

I have gone to Check Your 6 for a number of firearms transfers and recently took their concealed carry class. I've taken a few different firearms classes from other shops and this was by far the best one. The class is not only helpful for someone who has never handled a gun before but as a seasoned gun owner I also found it very helpful and learned a few things myself over the course of the day. I would recommend this course and Check Your 6 for all firearms related items. I don't think they do any gun smithing but you can certainly ask. read more

Love the level of service and professionalism that Sam provides. One of the best FFL transfer outfits in Chicagoland. Will be back soon!!

I took my CCW class with Sam and he was great! He made the class enjoyable and the time seemed to fly by. He is very knowledgeable and very eager to teach. I have referred several people to him since I have gone. Thanks Sam!! read more

Sam is a great and engaging instructor, who was able to tailor our CCW class for a very mixed group of people (some were very experienced, others were complete novices and bit intimidated). His experience as a former police officer was invaluable in explaining the legal and practical implications of various CCW scenarios. If you have a big enough group (like we did), he will do the class at your house, which is incredible and something I don't think many other instructors do. Sam also has great price and service on FFL transfers. read more

Sam is the man. This CCW class is well worth your time and money.

Just completed my conceal carry class. Sam is a great instructor with experience as a former police officer. The classes were broken down to keep us interested and the content was well prepared. His gun instruction was a great for me as it helped me feel more comfortable with handling of the guns. I would recommend him for this class, I also am using him now for a transfer. Very easy to deal with. read more
