He presented the curriculum in a way that made the class flow naturally and kept everyone engaged. He made the material interesting by sharing real-life experiences from both his students and his own life. He also has a great sense of humor, which made the long weekend enjoyable. Thomas thoroughly prepared us with the knowledge necessary to legally conceal and carry in Illinois. He did an excellent job getting us ready for the shooting qualification, including proper holster draws and safe firearm handling. I hadn't shot a firearm in years, and my wife had never shot one before -- yet we both passed. As long as you follow directions and prioritize safety at both the range and in the classroom, anyone can succeed. I researched multiple concealed carry classes in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, and Alpha Koncepts was by far the highest rated. I took a long time to research a place that was good and close to Chicago. I'm glad I stumbled upon Alpha Koncepts. I thought I had a decent shot and technique but I was wrong. Instructor Kral has taught me so much more than I thought was possible. His class was very informative, eye opening, and even fun. No matter what your skill level is, I suggest taking a conceal and carry class here because I know there is stuff he can teach you. I got my FOID ages ago. So long ago, I thought it had expired. CCL class was always on the list but had been on the back burner for even longer. Admittedly, it's a big decision & a personal one. Choosing the right place/instructor & taking the time out to go - it can be overwhelming. Truth be told, I found out about this business/instructor from Reddit. To my surprise, the location was very convenient for me & morning classes were offered over 4 days. This was a no-brainer & I scheduled immediately. The time I spent with Thomas was great. I learned so much - wasn't bored even for a second, & he was personable, understanding, & patient with all of us. This wasn't a class of just someone talking AT you. You were encouraged to ask questions, relevant discussions were had, & all important issues regarding safety, the law, & firearms were covered. I was really surprised at all the misinformation that is spread regarding firearms, self-defense, & what we see & watch in the news & media. I'm generally not an early bird but I found myself looking forward to going & enjoyed my time. Even when I struggled a bit at the range, we were reassured to take our time & given helpful instruction. By the time I got my certificate, I felt more knowledgeable than I ever was, & looking forward to more training. As Thomas mentioned, it shouldn't end here. I plan on taking more classes offered & spending some time at the range as well. The next morning, our class did receive an email thanking us, but also providing additional information, & even a video walking us through how to submit our applications. I recently moved back to Illinois from New York and decided to upgrade my FOID to CCL and needed to take the state mandated 16 hour class. I was told by friends that it didn't matter, they're all the same, just get the cheapest one to satisfy the requirement. I decided that since I hadn't fired a pistol in over 20 years, I might as well get something out of it and look for an instructor that cares about teaching good procedures through instruction as well as practice. My research brought me to Alpha Koncepts and I'm glad it did. Thomas has the gift of story telling and making an audience feel at ease coupled with decades of real experience handling firearms and the ability to explain things in laymen's terms. He also shared personal experience where applicable so that we could learn from his mistakes. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience that I would have been glad to go through even without needing the 16 hour instruction requirement. I just completed their CCL class, and it was a great experience! Thomas is very engaging, an excellent listener, and a great teacher! You will not fall asleep in his class, unless you get food coma. I will admit the second half of the second day was long, as it was all about the various jurisdictional laws to be aware of, but, he summarized the key points, and answered any questions that may have arisen from the law. He will take the time to listen and answer your questions, and will pay close attention and guide you to the proper stances to handle the practice firearms. The class is a tremendous value; he will show you how to maintain your firearm (he showed what products he uses and what not to use) and he also shared his experiences when he first started practicing on the range and when he first obtained his license. It was very real life and reassuring. His team was tremendously helpful at the range, and they will stay with you at your booth to ensure you take the proper steps to pass the live practice session of the class. Needless to say, he is very passionate about what he taught, and his enthusiasm was contagious! Again, this class was a tremendous value, and I will absolutely take more classes and instruction from him and his team! I took concealed carry training here and it exceeded my expectations by far. The instructor Thomas is very knowledgeable and has excellent presentation skills. For sixteen hours he held our attention. There is a good balance of participation lecture and hands on. I thought this class was an obstacle to overcome to get certified, but it is much more. I definitely recommend this CCL training for anyone that owns or is planning on obtaining a firearm, even if they don't plan on carrying it. This guy is the full package. He covered everything and more. The two days went by like a bang. Funny, knowledgeable, encouraging and patient. Did I say funny? Great chairs and coffee too! I would suggest you not do what I did and make sure you hit the range before you try to qualify with a new firearm. I took the defensive pistol training class and i loved it. Very informative and at the same time entertaining. You are taught and have an opportunity to try and practice drills you would not be able to do in a regular "stare straight at your target" range stall. The instructors were highly knowledgeable in the subject of what they teach and professional in how they teach, while providing a safe environment for both students and teachers. In class, you go through realistic drills that are essential to practice and perfect in case they are to be used in real life situations. This class would be perfect for someone who is new to handgun ownership as well as those who need to brush up on their response time and accuracy. This is a great investment and you walk away at the end of the day packed with new information and learned muscle memory already thinking when and what kind of class you can take next. read more
