We educate responsible Americans on firearm safety. We currently have 6 different curriculums to offer the public including the required training for those who want to conceal carry. Our instructor is an ex-military Staff Sgt. from the Alaskan Air Command, a retired Police Officer and he is a certified NRA Pistol Instructor, an affiliated USCCA firearms instructor and he is certified by the Illinois State Police to teach the Illinois Concealed Carry Class. We firmly believe that our classes offer the best training available in convenient and comfortable environments. All of our classes consist of interesting Power Point presentations and a lot of hands on firearm exercises. We also accommodate those with disabilities with easy access in both the classroom and the indoor range. We offer discounts for veterans, law enforcement and for couples. We keep our class size small for a better learning experience.

The owner of Badge 553 is a strong supporter of the second amendment and recognizes how sharply crime has fallen since responsible Americans have begun to arm themselves to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Meet the Business Owner: Mark H.

Badge 553 was founded by Mark B Heller who enlisted at the age of 17 into the USAF. At the height of the Vietnam War he was assigned to the 36th Medical Service Squadron of the Alaskan Air Command attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant in just 6 years. He then left the military and joined the Wilmette Police Department and yes, his badge number was 553. He served in the patrol division and later became an evidence technician. After nearly 14 years he retired from the department and went into civilian life as an entrepreneur. Mark is a Certified Firearms Instructor with the NRA, an Affiliated Firearms Instructor with the USCCA and he is an Approved Illinois Concealed Carry Firearms Instructor with the Illinois State Police. He now educates and trains responsibly armed Americans to exercise their second amendment rights and to use firearms safely and responsibly. Be prepared to protect your loved ones.
