Squash soup: good but little watery and under flavored Cranberry Orange loaf: yummy buttery flavor with limited cranberries and hard to detect any orange. Ancient grain salad: very good cold salad with assortment of healthy ingredients like pumpkin seeds & cranberries Hot tea: only one option which was earl grey; high quality but would like plain black as an option. Tried Arthur's public market today, very cute place selling tons of local and small business products. We got breakfast and it was very tasty. The quiche was good but a little heavy for me but had amazing flaky crust. Hubby got the breakfast sandwich which was good he said. I was very impressed with the shop and atmosphere and there was even seating outside in front and back. They had a window you could order from if you had dogs with you. Thought that was an awesome service. Honestly worst part was trying to find parking. Last time we tried we gave up after a few laps around the block. I stopped by Arthur's Public Market on a recent trip to Schenectady and had a wonderful experience. Arthur's Public Market sets just the right coffee house vibes with comfortable seating, knowledgable baristas, and delicious espresso beverages. My hope was to get a latte and get some work done and I was able to do just that. They have small tables as well as a communal table and outdoor seating to boot. I was able to get a table right by the window which made for a lovely morning of working and sipping in the sunshine. I ordered a pumpkin latte from their seasonal menu. The espresso was rich and lovely and the pumpkin spice was pitch perfect. It was a delight. The service was fast and friendly and the prices were reasonable. Get to it! read more

In a delirious state of mind, I decided I would try to stay awake for 24 hours and coffee hop. I drove over to Arthur's, and it was a blustery, cold day with sunlight reflecting off the snow. The inside of the shop was warm and cheery, with people socializing and studying. The cashier recommended the almond croissant since it was only available on the weekends, and I got a caramelized honey latte. The almond croissant hurt my pockets a bit, it was $6.25 and it was good, but I've had better :( The latte was amazing though! There was a deep, satisfying aroma and the latte was very rich. It's a little out of the way for me, but if I ever have a free morning I would go back and try some of their other drinks and pastries! read more

Such a cute cafe/grocery store to do work or have a hang out with friends! Arthur's has such a great open space for work with communal tables that are great to share! Be sure to come with devices charged since outlets are limited but the windows and ambiance are great! I love the local products of honey, crackers, jams, eggs, nut butters which were so cool to see. This Stockade market offers a comfortable retreat for a coffee social hour or lunch. The food offerings I repeat are the ham and gruyere sandwich, quiche, every flavor scone and cappuccino. Recently the coffee drinks have been served in disposable cups which is tragic compared to a cup and saucer when dining in. My typical visit is a weekend morning and apparently alot of others pick this time too. The seating is family style with many reading and completing assignments on laptops. The market section revolves frequently with cookbooks food items and beverages. The Market also hosts food and drink events advertised on Eventbrite. I suggest saving time to walk through the stockade when you visit Arthur's. It's a beautiful visit year round. read more

After searching for a coffee and breakfast place my son and I landed here. It's in a lovely spot in the historic district with quiet streets and well kept buildings. Their coffees and pastries are fantastic, and the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches are the best I've had. English muffins are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and tomato aioli adds a special touch. We brought home a great vegetable quiche for my wife (warmed up right before we left). Another amazing spot that we visited while passing through for a wedding! We came here for breakfast this morning and we had a great meal. The inside sitting area is small, but in my opinion, perfect sized and comfortable. The coffee was delicious, and we had a variety of light brew and lattes. The baked goods were fantastic! The bacon, egg and cheese on English muffin was amazing, my only regret is that we didn't buy an extra for the road! We also tried their almond croissant, and the raspberry lemon scone, also incredible and fresh. There was minimal wait time for us, and even when the line started to form, it moved fast. The service was great and the servers are very knowledgeable about the menu. I am so sad we are leaving today because we would love to come back for breakfast tomorrow! I think I'm a little obsessed with this place. My first visit was for the Pizza Night cookbook signing and samples. I immediately fell in love with the building and the atmosphere. I've tried a few types of cookies, a cinnamon roll, and my mom got a hand pie once. The handpies and cinnamon rolls are available on the weekend only and the cinnamon rolls sold out the first 2 times I tried getting some. So definitely arrive early if you want to try one! It's a fun spot to sit and have tea and a treat, inside or out. I don't normally find sitting in a coffee shop relaxing but I really like spending time here. It's a great place to get a gift for a goodie or a treat for yourself. I've gotten some packages of shortbread cookies and a chocolate bar. I like the blood orange iced tea. Yes, it's pricey and it's not exactly staple grocery items but I like supporting a local business that's been around for so many years! I have been a fan of Arthur's for some time now. I love everything about this place. As soon as you walk in you are immediately greeted with a cheery vibe and welcoming atmosphere. Most often I'm in and out but today I decided to order myself a lavender latte and a bacon chive scone. My purpose for the visit was to pick up some ramp quiches that they have for a limited time. I couldn't wait and had to have a taste of the quiche and I'm so happy to have done so. The quiche, latte and scone were all so good and really made my morning. As a longtime Seattleite, I've been to a lot of coffee places, and Arthur's is top 5 ever for me. The staff is wonderfully friendly and attentive. The whole vibe is welcoming and not at all pretentious. And that goes for the patrons too - I've been here 4 days in a row while visiting and the people are always just super chill. Their baked goods are great - and they have gluten free options as well. And then there's the small market with a great selection of stuff, including a good selection of non-alcoholic beverages. Usually my reviews involve me expending a lot of words to explain why some weird, grungy little place I like is really, truly worth five stars IN MY HEART, but that won't be necessary here, because Arthur's is a place that should be pretty clearly recognizable as Good to any thinking person. I'd never been here pre-recent renovation and triumphant reopening, but its current incarnation reminds me of a lot of some of the beautiful NYC-expat-owned cafes down in Columbia County, with the 200-year-old hardwood floors matched with solid wood furniture and hand-lettered signage, the lovingly house-made pastries (they even bake their own English muffins for the delicious breakfast sandwiches), the locally-roasted coffee, and the bottles of Battenkill chocolate milk in the cooler. This might sound like I'm saying that I think Arthur's is copying other places, but really I'm just excited that someone has expended as much obvious love and care (with everything from the shade of green paint on the walls to the brand of chocolate they use for the cookies) on a cafe in Schenectady as they do in towns that run on the money (and the preferences) of wealthy weekenders. The grocery selection of mostly staples is fairly limited but probably very welcome to the local residents, and there's also plenty of Rose Apothecary-style items (attractively-designed cloth bags full of lavender bath salts, designy boxes of matches, etc) for people looking for gifts. Also, I spied with my little eye on their website that they're working on being able to serve beer and wine soon as well. If anyone needs me, I'll be there hogging a table from open to close. read more

I was so happy to find this place. I was visiting my son who lives near by on a rainy, dreary day when I happened upon this cozy cafe/market. Little did I know it had historical significance. It is supposedly the oldest continuously running market in the area. The interior is warm and inviting. I ordered a coffee which was delicious to this self appointed coffee snob. I was pleased to see lots of pastries in the case and ordered a large ginger/molasses cookie. They have a freezer case with prepared meals. I chose 2 portions of chicken with lemon and capers. It came with 4 large dark meat portions of chicken, potatoes and onions with lots of capers and lemons. Our family of 3 had plenty to eat with some leftover. We enjoyed the meal very much. It came with lots of the flavorful sauce. The cookie was delicious and deeply flavorful. In addition to pastries they serve soup,salad and sandwiches. They are also a market selling a variety of provisions including cold items such as yogurts. While I was there people were seated at a few of the tables enjoying some food and beverages.
